He said he needed her guidance for an upcoming music video. After some initial work, Zhou Yao started reminiscing about their past relationship, making Cheng Feng uncomfortable. She sternly told him to "Shut up" if he wanted to continue working, but he pressed on, arguing that he wasn't the one who invaded her privacy or deleted messages.
When he started talking about releasing his emotions, Cheng Feng abruptly ended their collaboration, telling him to "Go away!" Zhou Yao then became agitated, questioning why Cheng Feng was so partial to Jiang Dian, claiming Jiang Dian was inferior to him, and asking why she treated him this way after all their years together. Jiang Dian, overhearing, tried to confront Zhou Yao, but Cheng Feng intervened and fell. Jiang Dian immediately rushed to her side, expressing concern.
Zhou Yao also showed false concern, but Cheng Feng again told him firmly to "Go away!" Observing this exchange, Zhou Yao concluded that Jiang Dian and Cheng Feng's relationship was in trouble, and he decided to leverage the potential scandal to promote his new album, reporting this development to Chen Huiyun. Jiang Dian was deeply disturbed by Zhou Yao's provocative words, replaying them in his mind and feeling intense jealousy.
Cheng Feng tried to talk to him, asking if he had anything to say, but Jiang Dian remained silent. Later, Cheng Feng received a call from Dai Baoling, who invited her out for a drink. Panicked, he found a public phone and called Cheng Feng, confessing his love and asking for her location. Cheng Feng replied, "I'm behind you." Cheng Feng joined him, asking if he remembered the promise on his second paper plane about troubles disappearing. She questioned if he was happy with her, then apologized for his recent troubles, including the incident with Zhou Yao, the delay in his physics experiment, and Professor Chen's suspension. Jiang Dian insisted she wasn't to blame.
Cheng Feng then offered to help him get better, to "become a beam of light" and help him "find that passionate, glowing dream-chasing youth" who dedicated his life to physics. Jiang Dian, touched, asked if that person could return, to which Cheng Feng reassured him, "Yes, as long as you want." Professor Chen gently chided him, clarifying that the incident hadn't severely impacted him but emphasizing the importance of balancing his career and relationship to avoid future regrets. He also expressed his understanding and support for Jiang Dian's actions for Cheng Feng. Jiang Dian, recalling a past teacher who abandoned him, expressed his deep gratitude to Professor Chen for never giving up on him. He then promised to bring Professor Chen back to the university.
Jiang Dian proceeded to the Dean's office, taking full responsibility for the experiment's failure and stressing that Professor Chen was innocent. The Dean explained the institutional rules, stating that as the project leader, Professor Chen was conventionally responsible for the losses. Jiang Dian pleaded for one week to correct the error, promising to make up for it. The Dean agreed, stating he would work to reinstate Professor Chen if Jiang Dian succeeded, as the university valued such a capable professor.
Jiang Dian excitedly called Cheng Feng to share the good news, telling her that he would be staying at the school to work overtime and inviting her to visit. Zhou Yao presented Cheng Feng with her favorite platycodon flowers, symbolizing "eternal love," and both the interviewer and Zhou Yao implied that they were a couple who had reconciled. Jiang Dian tried to call Cheng Feng, but her phone was off, causing him deep unease. That evening, outside Cheng Feng's book cafe, Zhou Yao invited her to his new album's celebratory party. Cheng Feng rejected the invitation, but Jiang Dian then appeared, asserting his relationship with her.

Zhou Yao, in turn, brought up Pang Ting's past collaboration with An Yin against Cheng Feng, warning her to cease her "stupid behaviors" driven by emotion. He questioned her competence and advised her not to frequent his apartment to avoid unwanted media attention, emphasizing the limits of his patience. The next morning, Jiang Dian received a call from a lab colleague, fearing another project setback.
Instead, it was a surprise visit from Professor Chen, who had been reinstated and returned to the university. Professor Chen congratulated Jiang Dian and his team for their tireless work in completing the experiment. He noticed Jiang Dian's injured hand, and Jiang Dian confessed that he had hurt it himself and "hurt Cheng last night," but admitted, "I couldn't control myself."
