After stabbing Ye Chenyuan, Bai Xiaoying found herself transported into Ye Chenyuan's Divine Sword's realm. Confused about her whereabouts, she observed a vision of the Immortal Lord. The Immortal Lord expressed sorrow for her child, revealing that the child was born to save the Three Realms and that everyone would eventually know of her sacrifice. She then asked Jibai if he was willing to become sword crystal and follow her, to which Jibai readily agreed.

The scene then shifted to a young girl, Bai Yixi, in her solitary residence, the Huiyue Abode. Children outside taunted her, calling her the "Divine Maiden" and demanding she come out to play, intrigued by her appearance that was similar to theirs. However, a mother quickly pulled her child away, warning that Bai Yixi was no divine maiden but a cursed individual, within whom dwelled the most evil Night Deity.

She claimed anyone Bai Yixi touched would die, urging her child never to return to that place. Bai Xiaoying, observing this, realized this was the origin of the deity's vessel and that the Huiyue Abode had once imprisoned the Night Deity. She mused, "So it was her." More children later attacked Bai Yixi, accusing her of killing one of their fathers and calling her a "little beast" and an enemy. When her blood appeared venomous, they quickly fled.

Overwhelmed by being labeled an ill omen, Bai Yixi repeatedly tried to end her life, attempting suicide over 160 times by various means, including hitting her head and consuming poisons, yet always failing. One day, a junior disciple named Wan Guchen, assigned to deliver meals, found Bai Yixi injured. Despite warnings from others about the Night Deity sealed within her and her venomous blood, Wan Guchen expressed concern, asking if she would simply be left to die.

He then bandaged her wounds and introduced himself, or Chen, explaining he had longed to meet her. Bai Yixi, suspicious, questioned his motives, believing him to be like others who came to gawk at her misery and anticipating poison in the food. She ate quickly, only to find no poison. When Wan Guchen promised never to harm her, she remained wary, expecting his true nature to show within days.

Nevertheless, Wan Guchen continued to visit daily, bringing fresh fruits and leaving them for her even when she refused them with a feigned indifference. He told her she was pure-hearted and not dangerous as others claimed. As Bai Xiaoying continued to witness these scenes, she was struck by the resemblance of the girl in the dream to herself, and memories of the young girl flooded her mind, causing her great sorrow.

She invited Wan Guchen to share her meal, and they talked. Wan Guchen described the lives of junior disciples, who mostly practiced immortal arts, but he, being an exception, also performed chores like sweeping and washing clothes. He mentioned that the Immortal Lord was seeking a new Sword Master to protect Bai Yixi after Immortal Zili failed to win the Divine Sword's allegiance. Bai Yixi half-jokingly suggested Wan Guchen would be a suitable protector if she needed one.

Longing to see the outside world, which was forbidden to her due to the spells surrounding Huiyue Abode, Bai Yixi learned that Wan Guchen knew a spatial technique passed down from rabbit spirits. He offered to teach it to her, but she hesitated, fearing she would cause trouble. Wan Guchen, however, had a plan and secretly took Bai Yixi out into the magnificent Nine Heavens.

Amazed by its beauty, Bai Yixi expressed her gratitude, saying she would never have seen such a sight without him. They encountered Immortal Xiyuan, who remarked that Bai Yixi looked familiar. Wan Guchen quickly introduced Bai Yixi as his younger sister, Qi, who was born prematurely and could not speak, clarifying that she was a new disciple and had not met Immortal Xiyuan before. Immortal Xiyuan accepted the explanation, believing she was mistaken.

Later, Bai Yixi noticed Wan Guchen had not come to deliver her meal and learned that other disciples had been temporarily assigned. Fearing for him, she went searching and found him injured. Wan Guchen apologized for not bringing her food, but Bai Yixi was more concerned about his injuries. Wan Zerui, a fellow disciple and Wan Guchen's relative, discovered them. He insulted Bai Yixi, calling her a "lowly maid" and both of them "lowly people."

Wan Guchen, defending her fiercely, demanded Wan Zerui stop. Wan Zerui retorted that Wan Guchen was a "cursed disaster" from birth, a shame to their Wanfeng royal family, and mocked him for being sent to cultivate only due to their grandfather's mercy.

Bai Yixi questioned why his family treated him so cruelly, prompting Wan Guchen to recount how he was branded an ill omen from birth after a Night Clan attack coinciding with his birth led to the death of his parents, the Crown Prince and Princess. This event also left him with a lasting fear of dogs, as others would use them to torment him.

Despite knowing the Night Deity was sealed within Bai Yixi, Wan Guchen confessed he didn't resent her, feeling less alone knowing there was someone else considered cursed and abandoned. He vowed not to displace his hatred onto an innocent person. Moved, Bai Yixi promised to protect him and gave him her mother's only keepsake, a bell, to keep him safe even when she wasn't around. Wan Guchen promised to treasure it.

Once Wan Guchen had recovered from his injuries, he came to visit Bai Yixi again. He presented her with a gift, a beautiful display of flowers, explaining he had secretly learned a spell to make them appear, as her blood caused flowers to wither. Though he had not yet mastered the spell, Bai Yixi adored it and asked him to make such flowers for her often. As they enjoyed the beautiful scene, other disciples discovered them.

They called Bai Yixi "Bai Yixi" and accused her of violating immortal laws and being a "monster" consorting with a "jinx." Bai Yixi defended herself, stating she had lived in the immortal sect for over a decade without harming anyone. The disciples, however, berated her for being the vessel of an ancient evil deity and warned that her wandering could unleash the Night Deity and endanger humanity.

Bai Yixi protested, asking why she had to bear such a burden when she neither wished to endanger the world nor chose to be the vessel. Enraged by her "heartless, selfish words," the disciples declared her unworthy of the Immortal Lord's mercy and attacked, stating they could not let her live. In the ensuing struggle, Wan Guchen was injured while protecting Bai Yixi, and she accidentally killed the attacking disciples.
