After lunch at Shen Luo's house, Zhou Buwen and his sister, Zhou Buyan, departed. While Zhou Buyan waited for Zhou Buwen to buy her water, she encountered Zhu Yiyang. Struck by Zhou Buyan's beauty, Zhu Yiyang lost control of his vehicle, overturning it, smashing watermelons, and falling hard to the ground. When Zhou Buwen returned to witness the chaotic scene, he pulled Zhu Yiyang away to help Shen Luo find a job, disregarding Zhou Buyan's repeated requests to go out.
Shen Luo later received a call from a company called "Ocean Tide Culture Company," offering her a secretarial position. She dressed nicely and went to report for work. Wu Julan found the offer suspicious and decided to look up the company on the computer. As he suspected, this seemingly generous media company was a setup arranged by Zhou Buwen through Zhu Yiyang, purely to help Shen Luo.
Zhu Yiyang attempted to take advantage of Shen Luo while teaching her to dance, which resulted in Shen Luo giving him a thorough beating. He was forced to confess everything. Meanwhile, Wu Julan discovered that the "Ocean Tide Culture Company" was completely fictitious. Seeing Shen Luo upset and disheartened by the deception, Wu Julan initially wanted to comfort her. However, the ever-optimistic Shen Luo quickly regained her cheerful demeanor.
Zhou Buyan grew increasingly irritated by Zhou Buwen's evident concern for Shen Luo. In a fit of anger, she slammed her spoon, spilling coffee, and warned her brother against harboring a secret crush on Shen Luo, which only made Zhou Buwen more impatient. Wu Julan crafted a beautiful guqin from wood. Meanwhile, Shen Luo was constantly worried about her substantial debts.
Wu Julan instructed Shen Luo to prepare bowls, chopsticks, and side dishes for over a dozen people, leading her to believe he was inviting friends over for dinner. Despite her limited funds, she diligently made the preparations. To everyone's astonishment, Wu Julan had retrieved a massive "Sea Phoenix" from the ocean. The island residents were thrilled, as the creature hadn't been seen for many years, and everyone eagerly sought to buy a piece.
Wu Julan carried the "Sea Phoenix" home and announced that anyone wishing to eat it must pay 1,000 yuan. Everyone readily agreed. With a small knife, Wu Julan's incredible knife skills were displayed as he swiftly prepared plates of sashimi, reciting ancient seven-character poems as he worked. The onlookers were mesmerized and spontaneously applauded. Zhou Buwen and Zhou Buyan also joined the crowd.
Zhou Buwen, however, found the situation peculiar, knowing that a "Sea Phoenix" inhabits the deep sea and should not be so easily caught. A large crowd gathered at the door, and Wu Julan further entertained them by playing the guqin. He performed the song "The Starry Night, The Starry Sea," which happened to be Shen Luo's favorite song.
Shen Luo was utterly captivated by Wu Julan's charm and talent, and some people in the crowd immediately offered large sums to hire him. Receiving a large sum of money, Shen Luo felt as though she was dreaming. Delighted, she fetched some wine to celebrate, and Wu Julan also smiled happily. Shen Luo, with her low tolerance for alcohol, quickly became intoxicated. Leaning on Wu Julan's shoulder, she gazed at him with hazy eyes.
Though she claimed not to believe in love, she desired to kiss him, only to fall asleep. Her actions left Wu Julan in a state of confusion and longing. Zhou Buwen observed this entire intimate scene clearly through a crack in the door.
An Zuo was furious, chastising his subordinates for their incompetence when they reported that while Wu Julan appeared weak, he was a strong fighter, and the woman with him was "particularly strong," which led to the failure of their mission. An Zuo dismissed them as "useless things." During a video call, An Zuo instructed Zhou Buwen to find a way to kidnap Wu Julan, promising him rich rewards.
Later, after discovering his lost iPad was accessed multiple times, An Zuo made another video call to Zhou Buwen, revealing his true identity as a wizard and threatening Zhou Buwen's life if he didn't cooperate. An Zuo also instructed Zhou Buwen to focus on acquiring Shen Luo's old family house, promising him many benefits once the task was complete. Wu Jingjing was deeply concerned by Wu Julan's unusual behavior, fearing it would draw suspicion and expose his true identity.
She had sensed his growing affection for Shen Luo and warned him not to develop feelings for her, reminding him that Shen Luo was a descendant of Du Xiaolin, Wu Julan's old enemy. Wu Jingjing also wondered why, after Du Xiaolin and his associates went to such lengths to steal the spiritual pearl, it had mysteriously gone missing.
She continued to suspect Shen Luo and her grandpa of collusion and reminded Wu Julan that the fifteenth of the month was approaching, after which they would leave if the pearl was found. However, Wu Julan had developed genuine feelings for the strong and innocent Shen Luo and was reluctant to depart. After Wu Julan awoke, Shen Luo vividly recounted how they were ambushed by two sturdy "troublemakers" in the forest while returning home.
She claimed Wu Julan had fainted easily, leaving her to bravely fight them off and then carry him, "as heavy as a pig," back home. Wu Julan, having experienced the effects of poisoning, apologized to Shen Luo, stating that he would never suspect her again. Shen Luo demanded more than just an apology for the mental and physical torture she endured. Later, Wu Jingjing visited Wu Julan, bringing him medicine specifically formulated for his condition.
She questioned if Shen Luo had prepared the wine, implying Shen Luo might have poisoned him. Wu Julan firmly denied this, asserting his trust in Shen Luo. He argued that if Shen Luo intended to harm him, she wouldn't have saved him in the forest, believing her sincerity.
Wu Jingjing, however, pointed out that only someone who knew about Angel's Trumpet would use it to poison him and suspected the Black Wizard's men were responsible, plotting against him on the island. Wu Jingjing reassured him she would investigate them quickly, despite their sly and specially trained nature. Upon waking, Shen Luo remembered her drunken antics from the night before and felt embarrassed. She quietly sought out Wu Julan, only to accidentally bump into his arms.
Blushing, she covered her face and rushed out, running straight into Jiang Yisheng, who immediately teased her about her discomposure. Zhou Buwen and Zhou Buyan strolled around the island. Zhou Buyan was drawn to the items in the roadside shops and asked her brother for his opinion as she browsed. Zhou Buwen, however, walked ahead, lost in thought. Zhou Buyan, observing his distracted demeanor, immediately assumed he was thinking about Shen Luo and became visibly jealous.
