Shen Luo spent a restless night, unable to sleep after learning that Wu Julan wanted to go on a date with her alone. She mistakenly believed he expected her to offer herself in return for his heroic act of saving her. Meanwhile, An Zuo followed Wu Jingjing back to the hospital, where Jiang Yisheng spotted him. Jiang Yisheng confronted An Zuo, attempting to hit him, but An Zuo quickly overpowered him.
Recognizing An Zuo as Wu Jingjing’s ex-boyfriend, Jiang Yisheng invited him to a bar to talk. There, Jiang Yisheng warned An Zuo to stay away from Wu Jingjing, asserting himself as her current boyfriend. An Zuo merely responded that he enjoyed challenges and found difficulty more interesting. Jiang Yisheng tried to get An Zuo drunk but ended up inebriated himself, and Wu Jingjing arrived to pull him away.
Zhou Buwen, disguised as a doctor, entered the hospital and copied death records, which he then gave to An Zuo. An Zuo soon discovered a record indicating Shen Luo had drowned and died, leading him to deduce that the spiritual pearl was within her, as only the pearl could grant resurrection. Shen Luo meticulously chose outfits for her date with Wu Julan, trying on several glamorous dresses in front of the mirror before settling on a very sensual one.
She then followed Wu Julan with her head down, feeling like a thief, to the Qingmu Inn. Seeing it was an inn, Shen Luo panicked, thinking Wu Julan intended to get a room, and tried to flee. Wu Julan firmly pulled her inside, and she mentally chastised him. However, when he produced a swimsuit and asked her to change, she realized he only wanted to teach her how to swim. She adamantly refused.
Remembering Jiang Yisheng's advice that when a girl says no, she means yes, Wu Julan encouraged her to get in the water. Under pressure, Shen Luo reluctantly admitted her fear of water, explaining that she had almost drowned as a child and was declared beyond saving by doctors before her grandfather miraculously revived her.
Hearing this, Wu Julan understood that the spiritual pearl must be inside her, and that there were only two ways to retrieve it: forcibly with the Black Wizard's lost black knife, or through true love's kiss, which would cause the pearl to return to him naturally. However, he knew that if the pearl was taken from her, Shen Luo would die. He quickly left on the pretext of having something else to do.
He found Wu Jingjing and informed her that he no longer desired the spiritual pearl, as taking it would cost Shen Luo her life. When he realized Wu Jingjing had already known this secret, his anger flared, causing all the surrounding wine glasses to shatter. Wu Jingjing knelt, begging for his forgiveness, and reminded him that if he did not retrieve the spiritual pearl, he would only live for another month.
Following Jiang Yisheng's advice, Shen Luo attempted to make Wu Julan fall for her. She called him, pretending to be drowning and asking for help. Her plan backfired when her leg genuinely cramped, and she actually started to drown. Wu Julan heard her desperate cries and quickly rescued her, bringing her to shore. Shen Luo closed her eyes, leaning in for a kiss.
However, Wu Julan, knowing that taking the spiritual pearl would end her life, turned his head, rejecting her. Jiang Yisheng later found Shen Luo talking to herself, enacting conversations that revolved entirely around Wu Julan. He realized she had developed feelings for him and promptly informed Wu Jingjing. Shen Luo, feeling Wu Julan's growing coldness despite her attempts to charm him, became despondent and went drinking. She quickly got drunk, repeatedly calling out Wu Julan’s name.
Zhou Buwen offered to take her home, but Jiang Yisheng intercepted. Wu Julan watched the heavily intoxicated Shen Luo, feeling a pang of concern. Shen Luo, in her drunken state, embraced Wu Julan, called him a "demon," and tried to forcefully push him onto the bed to kiss him. Wu Julan managed to evade her in time, and Shen Luo eventually drifted off to sleep. The next morning, Shen Luo woke up, remembering fragments of the previous night.
Noticing the red marks she had left on Wu Julan's neck, she feigned dizziness and quickly escaped. Zhou Buwen tried to persuade Zhou Buyan to leave the island, claiming work was busy, but she refused, determined to stay until her brother returned her affections. Upset, Zhou Buyan went drinking, and Zhu Yiyang joined her, consuming much of the alcohol himself. Zhou Buyan cried, expressing her frustration that her brother didn't understand her feelings, and Zhu Yiyang empathized deeply.
Later, Zhou Buwen invited Shen Luo to watch a movie. However, Wu Julan, using the excuse of a big client order, pulled Shen Luo away to the beach to collect shells. While they were there, An Zuo appeared and attempted to strangle Shen Luo. Wu Julan intervened, and a fierce fight ensued between him and An Zuo. Wu Julan, seemingly divinely aided, managed to injure An Zuo.
It was later revealed that Wu Julan had used a drug that caused a sudden surge in adrenaline, with the severe side effect of rapidly depleting his stamina. Consequently, Wu Julan became very weak, and An Zuo, gathering all his remaining strength, managed to stab him. Wu Jingjing rushed to the scene and pulled An Zuo away, taking him back to her home. An Zuo, misunderstanding her actions, believed Wu Jingjing still harbored feelings for him.
Soon after, Jiang Yisheng arrived, bringing Cantonese pastries for Wu Jingjing. Worried that Jiang Yisheng might discover An Zuo, Wu Jingjing quickly pulled him to the beach. Jiang Yisheng, seizing the opportunity, attempted to confess his feelings. However, Wu Jingjing, preoccupied with her thoughts, did not hear him. Mistaking her silence for acceptance, Jiang Yisheng tried to kiss her, only to be met with a slap across the face.
An Zuo later reflected on his fight with Wu Julan, remembering that Wu Julan had told him the spiritual pearl was within his body. Recalling Wu Julan's extraordinary "divine-like power" during their confrontation, An Zuo began to wonder if the spiritual pearl truly resided in Wu Julan.
