The Silence of the Monster Episode 24 Recap
> The Silence of the Monster Recap
Gu Nan takes a break from his work, preparing skewers at Song's shop. Song asks if he would consider becoming a chef, citing the good salary and respected position. Gu Nan expresses interest, noting he thought about it during his time in jail, but shows his injured right hand, explaining he can only handle lighter tasks like preparing skewers.
Song praises his optimistic outlook, to which Gu Nan replies that life must continue, promising to improve his speed by practicing with his left hand. Song encourages him to keep up the good work. Sui Yi sighs, confiding in Chen Xiaoyuan that she believes her boyfriend is keeping something from her. Chen Xiaoyuan, however, quickly discerns that Sui Yi is referring to her own relationship issues. Sui Yi then admits her concern about a love letter.
During their conversation, Sui Yi mentions that Luo Bin informed her it was a love letter. Jia Xiaoguo, also present, questions Luo Bin’s reliability, suggesting he might have been joking and reminding Sui Yi about the importance of evidence in her profession. Chen Xiaoyuan adds that He Chufeng is quite popular and likely receives many such letters, noting that men rarely volunteer explanations. Sui Yi expresses frustration, feeling that falling in love has only increased her worries.
Chen Xiaoyuan advises her not to be overly anxious, to cherish her current happiness, and to trust herself, while also preparing for decisive action should a serious issue arise. Luo Bin presents He Chufeng with a newly acquired invisible ink formula, claiming it's a sophisticated technique used by diplomats. They try various chemicals, including tartaric acid, potassium ferrous chloride, and sodium sulfate, on the anonymous letter, but none yield results. Luo Bin then suggests using fire.
He Chufeng, initially hesitant, explains the chemical process of using sodium nitrate to reveal fire writing, but remains cautious. Luo Bin proceeds to ignite the letter, inadvertently burning a significant portion of the paper without revealing the complete message. Frustrated, He Chufeng leaves the lab. Later, at home, He Chufeng prepares dinner for Sui Yi and asks if she is bothered by the letter.
Sui Yi assures him that it is fine, acknowledging that everyone has their secrets and that she will wait until he is ready to share. Luo Bin finally manages to reveal the hidden message on the letter using a modified Lumino reagent, discovering it is written in blood. The cryptic text reads, "The Gate of Dark Games opens to you." Alarmed, Luo Bin warns He Chufeng to avoid dangerous involvements.
He Chufeng is genuinely puzzled by the letter’s content, stating it's his first time seeing it, but he recognizes the unique envelope, having previously seen identical ones at Gu Nan's place. Later, Gu Nan visits He Chufeng, gifting him an owl sculpture for his upcoming birthday, explaining that owls symbolize happiness, wisdom, and good fortune, and wishes him a long and fulfilling life. He Chufeng considers asking about the envelopes but decides against it.
Luo Bin, learning that He Chufeng didn't question Gu Nan, expresses deep concern, emphasizing the need for quick resolution to avoid future danger, especially now that He Chufeng is in a relationship. Sui Yi overhears their conversation and questions them. He Chufeng reassures her that the letter is not a love letter but cannot yet reveal its true nature.
To convince her, he drags a sleepy Luo Bin from his bed to corroborate, much to Luo Bin's exasperation, who laments his sleepless and heartbroken state. He Chufeng apologizes to Sui Yi for not realizing the extent of her concern about the letters and promises to be more direct if she ever feels upset. Sui Yi admits she is primarily angry with herself for becoming overly sensitive and prone to suspicion since they started dating, a change she dislikes.
He Chufeng reassures her, stating that her concern indicates she cares, and it is his responsibility to provide her with a greater sense of security. Later, as Luo Bin finally attempts to sleep, a female friend calls to remind him of their scheduled exhibition visit the next day, asking him to dress in warm colors to match her outfit. The following day, at the exhibition, Luo Bin acts as a reluctant photographer for his friend, clearly disengaged from the artwork.
He then spots Fang Qi with her fiancé, who is attempting to apologize to her. Overwhelmed by the sight, Luo Bin quickly retreats from the exhibition. Sui Yi treats her colleagues to juice tea at the law firm. Her colleagues commend her dedication and thoroughness as an intern, noting her strong work ethic compared to another intern, Yu, who is criticized for being disorganized and only passing her law exam through an expensive "pass-guaranteed" class.
Meanwhile, back at home, He Chufeng prepares to feed Bean Bun but discovers the cat is missing. He, Sui Yi, and Luo Bin search extensively for Bean Bun throughout the night without success. The next morning, a crowd gathers around the deceased body of a cat, evidently a victim of abuse, shocking He Chufeng, Sui Yi, and Luo Bin.
Community residents voice their fears and speculate about the abuser, with some suspecting Tuda from the market, Old Gao from the skewer shop, or even the new assistant chef, Gu Nan, for whom He Chufeng had vouched. Some residents also hint at He Chufeng himself due to his locksmith skills. Others point to a girl from the milk tea shop known for her strong dislike of cats.
As He Chufeng and Luo Bin begin their search for clues, Sui Yi, despite being at work, is visibly distracted and anxious about Bean Bun's fate, making phone calls to Chen Xiaoyuan and Jia Xiaoguo, urging them to address the escalating cat abuse issue that has panicked the community. Jia Xiaoguo assures her they will do their utmost to help.
