Su Yi brought Li Jiasang his favorite Red Velvet cake at the Lee Group office. While he ate, Su Yi received a message from Luo Manni, after which she left with a terrible expression. Shortly after, Li Jiasang received a call from Secretary Jiang informing him of an emergency with his grandfather, Chairman Li Yaohui. He rushed to the hospital, where he found his sister, Li Xiatian, already there and in tears.
Overwhelmed with grief, Li Jiasang felt a profound heartache, though he couldn't cry. Su Yi, understanding his pain, quietly comforted him. Zheng He observed Li Jiasang's sorrow from a distance but did not approach him. As he processed the news, Li Jiasang reminisced about his grandfather's guidance and affection. He remembered his grandpa teaching him to tie a necktie, praising a drawing he made, and sternly telling him that "the successor of Lee Group must not be disgraced."
Li Jiasang silently vowed to work hard and live up to his grandpa's expectations. Later, Su Yi urged him to share his feelings instead of keeping them bottled up. Li Jiasang confided in her, tearfully explaining that he had just realized that after losing someone, everything changes, and what he once hated, he now loved.
He recalled how his grandpa had always kept a drawing he made as a child in a cabinet by his bedside, using his own methods to show love. He confessed, "I miss Grandpa." Su Yi comforted him, assuring him that regardless of where his grandpa was, he would always be in their hearts and with them.
Later, Xia Xiyang informed Su Yi that she had applied for a suspension from work, a decision she made herself and which made her feel liberated. Su Yi then asked about the baby and what Zheng He had said. Xia Xiyang admitted she hadn't told him, reasoning that she felt he wasn't mature enough and was still like a child, with many new things to learn as he managed the hospital.
She feared he wouldn't be able to react well to suddenly becoming a father. Su Yi grew frustrated, telling Xia Xiyang that she barely recognized her, lamenting that the "old Xia Xiyang" she knew was direct and blunt, not indecisive and cautious, constantly thinking on someone else's behalf. Xia Xiyang acknowledged Su Yi's words and said she would think about it. After Li Yaohui's memorial service, Li Jiasang thanked everyone for their help.
The group discussed the circumstances of his grandpa's death. Su Yi noted that Gao Mu had an alibi from Secretary Jiang and Zheng He, the safe was found empty, and the security camera was broken. Li Jiasang firmly stated he didn't believe it was an accident. When asked about the hospital's conclusion, Xia Xiyang confirmed it was due to myocardial infarction and blood loss from a fall, adding that any other hospital would reach the same conclusion.
Su Yi believed the items in the safe must have been leverage against Gao Mu, and Li Jiasang declared that Gao Mu would soon lose control of Lin Zi. Someone then shared that they had gone to Norway to interview a former employee of the Li Mu Research Institute who had taken some materials when he emigrated and recently mailed them. They decided that from that day forward, they would only trust those present in the room.
Meanwhile, Zheng He encountered Xia Xiyang at the hospital and questioned her about resigning, suggesting she did it to avoid him. Xia Xiyang simply claimed she was tired, but Zheng He didn't believe her. She then returned his engagement ring, explaining that the relationship should end, despite her still loving him very much. Zheng He pressed her, asking if she truly wanted to break up and become strangers. Just as they were talking, it started to rain heavily.
They bickered over who should leave first, with Zheng He saying, "We already broke up. Why do you still care about me? Leave now." Despite his words, he pulled her to shelter. He then suggested that breaking up in the rain wasn't a good idea, a sentiment Xia Xiyang agreed with, proposing they postpone it to another day. Both laughed, relieved, and hand-in-hand, ran home. Su Yi later visited Uncle Zhang, who had a bad back.
She applied a medicinal plaster for him and offered for him to move into her place, as she had many empty rooms. Uncle Zhang was hesitant, fearing he would cause trouble. Before leaving, Su Yi gave him a bank card, instructing him to buy whatever he wanted to eat and not try to save money. She then departed after seeing a call from Xia Xiyang.
At a board meeting, Li Jiasang acknowledged that his equity shares were still in the option pool and his grandfather had been Lee Group's largest shareholder, so he chose to sit below the main seat. Gao Mu then entered the room and, to everyone's surprise, took the main seat. Directors questioned his appropriateness, but Gao Mu announced that his father, Li Yaohui, had left him his equities.
He further stated that Lin Zi had recently purchased all the odd lots of Lee Group in the market, and with his nephew's "generosity," he now held the most shares, making him the largest shareholder. Gao Mu declared his intention to set up a dedicated charity fund for cardiology to honor his deceased father. Li Jiasang congratulated him but subtly expressed his hope that Lin Zi's loan would not drag everyone down.
A flashback then revealed the moments leading to Li Yaohui's death. Li Yaohui had angrily confronted Gao Mu, telling him to "withdraw those new products immediately from the shelves and leave Lee Group," promising to settle his deficit. He reminded Gao Mu that Lee Group had never ventured into low-end markets for a reason and threatened to ensure Gao Mu had nothing if he continued to touch "items he shouldn't touch."
Gao Mu pleaded for another chance, admitting he was greedy and stupid, and asked for it for his mother's sake. Li Yaohui, however, lashed out, calling Gao Mu's birth a "mistake" and a "trap," stating his mother had forced him to divorce. Enraged by this, Gao Mu saw Li Yaohui open his safe to retrieve a hard drive. He then snatched the drive from his father, prompting Li Yaohui to call him an "ungrateful son" before collapsing from pain, suffering a fatal heart attack.
