During the interview, the reporter asked Su Yi about her decision to leave a higher position in Japan and return to China, to which Su Yi replied that talent shines everywhere. The reporter then inquired if dating her boss, Li Jiashang, felt like being the protagonist of a novel.
Su Yi acknowledged that everyone already knew about their relationship and revealed she was considering resigning. She explained that all business goals for this stage had been met and her plan was to open an art gallery, a long-held dream, as painting was her favorite pursuit. Su Yi mentioned that Li Jiashang's first gift to her was an oil painting, which she cherished.
After the interview, the reporter offered her public relations services to Su Yi and wished Li Jiashang good luck. Once the interview team left, Li Jiashang confronted Su Yi, asking why she hadn't informed him about her decision to resign and open an art gallery. Su Yi stated that she had just decided and that working previously was for livelihood, but her true dream was always painting.
Li Jiashang, though surprised, supported her aspiration, instructing her to focus on wrapping up her current work and selecting art pieces for the gallery, promising to pay for whatever she chose. Su Yi highlighted the significant investment required for an art gallery, including location, human resources, and capital, then dismissed her earlier statement as just something she said casually during the interview.
Li Jiashang, however, assured her he would make it happen if it was her desire, and announced his plan to fund it by releasing 7% of his stocks to the market. Later, Su Yi called Chu Mo, praising Chen Jin's cooperation. Li Jiashang listened as Su Yi mused about Chu Mo's business trips always coinciding with Miss Xiatian's acting schedules. Li Jiashang playfully accused her of gossiping, but Su Yi insisted it was a sign of care.
He then mentioned that the stocks he released had found buyers, though not many. Su Yi realized her "resignation as a ploy" seemed to be working, speculating that if the purchaser was Gao Mu, he might be testing the waters or simply lacked sufficient funds. She reviewed their current situation: Gao Mu, her parents, herself, Li Mu Research Institute, and Zheng Yi, who also had his sights on Lee Group, were all connected, but crucial information was still missing.
Before leaving work, Luo Manni received a package addressed to Zheng He. Su Xiangtai found its contents familiar and immediately recognized it as a part from a medical equipment. Su Xiangtai then came up with an idea for their next step. The team, including Su Yi, Li Jiashang, Su Xiangtai, and Luo Manni, disguised themselves as students to attend a class given by Professor Zhou, which only occurred once a month.
During the class, Su Xiangtai learned that Professor Zhou had imported three such machines to Ocean City years ago: one was at Ocean City Academy, another in a private hospital warehouse, and the third was possibly at Li Mu Research Institute. This discovery suggested that Li Mu's research might be focused on anatomy dissection rather than biology or chemistry, as previously thought.
If their suspicions about Li Mu Research Institute were true and they could acquire the machine's configuration and customer data, they could likely uncover Gao Mu's illegal dealings from that period. Their next target was Chief Supervisor Fan of Luo Group, who was scheduled to leave Ocean City that night. Luo Manni went to a hotel to meet him, aiming to obtain customer information for the medical equipment from six to ten years ago.
Director Fan, initially welcoming, refused to provide the data, citing company policy and his lack of high-level access. Luo Manni, undeterred, resorted to blackmail. She subtly threatened to accuse him of harassment and even exposed a secret about his son living in Switzerland, implying she would inform his wife. Under pressure, Director Fan revealed that only three such models were ever sold, and due to the customer waiving after-sales service, no detailed records were kept.
He explained that he typically kept sensitive documents at home. Meanwhile, Su Xiangtai, worried after Luo Manni abruptly ended a call, went to the hotel. He found Luo Manni outside Director Fan's room, her clothes slightly torn. He was alarmed, but she reassured him, explaining that her disheveled appearance was part of her strategy to threaten Director Fan.
She confessed that her family's patriarchal views made her feel undervalued, her only worth seemingly being a marriage alliance, which pushed her to extreme measures. Su Xiangtai admonished her for taking such risks. As Su Xiangtai drove Luo Manni home, their car broke down on the seaside bridge. While waiting for the tow truck, Su Xiangtai complained about their bad luck.
Luo Manni, however, found romance in the unexpected delay and opened the trunk, revealing a surprising number of alcohol bottles. Su Xiangtai then asked her why she disliked going home, despite Luo Group being her family business.
Luo Manni expressed her longing for a home that offers reliance, respect, and care, none of which she found in her own family, which as the only daughter, only valued her for a marriage alliance and limited her freedom, making her prefer staying in hotels. She also revealed she drank to build tolerance. Su Xiangtai, deeply moved, declared himself Luo Manni's man and promised to cherish and care for her for a lifetime.
Luo Manni, touched by his sincerity, accepted his promise to treasure her, and they embraced. Separately, Su Yi received a phone call from Xia Xiyang, who said she wasn't in a convenient place to talk. Xia Xiyang quickly hung up after assuring Su Yi she would do what she could to help. Zheng He, who was nearby, confronted Xia Xiyang, asking if she felt uncomfortable being caught between him and her friends.
Xia Xiyang denied it, but Zheng He pressed her, questioning her loyalty and reminding her that she was his. Xia Xiyang, asserting herself, told Zheng He to grow up and pushed him away, then ran home. Later, Xia Xiyang was seen at home, seemingly distressed and crying, after receiving a notification related to medical abortion. Zheng He was also seen attempting to call her, but hung up before she could answer.
Back at home, Su Yi surprised Li Jiashang by wearing a high school uniform. He found her beautiful, both in the present and, as he claimed, recalling a memory of her from middle school. Su Yi teased him about the uniform, implying it belonged to Miss Xiatian and that she was merely keeping it safe. Li Jiashang had promised his sister he would go home.
Su Yi then playfully told Li Jiashang not to think of other women when he was with her. She suggested he tell his sister he would be staying at Su Yi's place to finish homework. The two then shared a passionate kiss.
