Liu Qing, realizing Mu Wanqing was in grave danger, rushed home while urgently instructing Lei Shuo to pursue the attackers. Meanwhile, Mu Wanqing had just returned to her house, calling out for Mi and Gua, but receiving no reply. She found Li Yuting asleep in the living room, having fallen into a drunken slumber. Unbeknownst to them, an assailant had hidden in the trunk of Mu Wanqing's car and stealthily infiltrated the house, preparing to attack her.
Hearing the commotion, Li Yuting startlingly awoke. Seeing Mu Wanqing in peril, she bravely grabbed a wine bottle and struck the attacker, successfully fending them off and buying Mu Wanqing precious time. In the chaos, she missed a call from Liu Qing. The assailant continued to pursue Mu Wanqing, but just as she faced imminent danger, Feng Cong arrived at the house.
He had been monitoring the Mu family and, after discovering two of Lei Shuo’s unconscious men outside, realized Mu Wanqing was in trouble. Feng Cong courageously intervened, holding off the attacker and urging Mu Wanqing to escape. However, Mu Wanqing hesitated, concerned for Feng Cong’s safety. Liu Qing finally reached home, causing the assailant to flee. Feng Cong, unfortunately, sustained a serious knife wound to his abdomen. Mu Wanqing cradled him anxiously, while Li Yuting instinctively hid behind Liu Qing.
Despite a flash of irritation, Liu Qing quickly called for an ambulance. Concurrently, Lei Shuo and Fu Jundie, tracking the safe, were discovered by sister Mumu. To evade them, sister Mumu killed her driver, took the donation agreement, and escaped, later reporting her success to her boss and planning their next move. Fu Jundie immediately reported the murder to the police. Feng Cong was rushed to the hospital.
Mu Wanqing waited anxiously outside the operating room and expressed her gratitude to Li Yuting for saving her. Li Yuting, curious, asked about Feng Cong's identity. Upon learning he was Mu Wanqing's ex-boyfriend, she directly asked if Mu Wanqing still loved him. Mu Wanqing remained silent, and Li Yuting did not press further. Fortunately, Feng Cong’s life was not in danger. Soon, Mu Jianjun and Mu's mother arrived at the hospital.
Liu Qing, after cooperating with the police at home, also arrived. From outside Feng Cong's room, he observed Mu Wanqing and Feng Cong in a seemingly intimate moment, causing him considerable distress, and he silently departed. Mu Jianjun visited Feng Cong in his hospital room. He spoke of Mu Wanqing's profound suffering and depression after Feng Cong had left years ago, even hinting at her suicidal thoughts.
He explained that he had given her a position as General Manager to help her recover, a challenging role for a "young lady" with no prior experience. Now that Mu Wanqing was finally recovering, he urged Feng Cong to not disturb her current life. Feng Cong acknowledged that the past was unchangeable but vowed to make it up to Mu Wanqing in the future.
Later, on their way back, Mu Jianjun expressed his concerns to Liu Qing about Mu Wanqing and Feng Cong rekindling their old relationship. He also inquired about Li Yuting. Liu Qing explained that Li Yuting was his close friend’s sister, whom he was entrusted to care for, much like Mu Jianjun had cared for him.
Mu Jianjun reassured Liu Qing of his trust in his character, promising that both he and Grandma would support him, confident that Mu Wanqing would move past Feng Cong and return to Liu Qing. Both Liu Qing and Lei Shuo were questioned by the police. Liu Qing explained that he hadn't reported the kidnapping of Wu Fengyu's subordinate earlier due to threats from the kidnappers.
He then informed the police about the contentious relationship between Maoyuan Group and Zhentian Group, describing Yang Zhentian as conniving but lacking both intelligence and appeal, and suggested the kidnapping and the attack on Mu Wanqing were likely connected. Lei Shuo was also questioned by the police. He identified the two drugged security guards at Mu Wanqing's home as his employees, whom Chairman Mu had entrusted to protect his daughter.
Lei Shuo also confirmed his long-standing friendship with Liu Qing and Wu Fengyu from years ago but cited confidentiality clauses for not disclosing further details about their past work. With a survivor's testimony, Wu Fengyu was cleared of murder allegations and released. However, Wu Fengyu was resolute in not abandoning their cause, stating that avoiding the fight would not guarantee his family’s safety; true security only comes when everything is fully resolved.
Mu Wanqing, driving home, reflected on her past with Feng Cong and her present with Liu Qing, feeling a deep conflict. Entering her house, she felt a strange emptiness without Liu Qing in the living room. She then found Liu Qing drunk and sprawled by the bed in her room. Mu Wanqing suddenly asked him why he married her, seeking to understand his intentions.
Liu Qing, in his inebriated state, turned the question back on her, asking if only Feng Cong could make her happy. When she pressed for an answer, he slurred that he gained nothing, but she had been there for him through countless painful nights. Mu Wanqing dismissed this, believing he was too drunk to think clearly.
Liu Qing then took out photos of his grandparents, suggesting they create a composite wedding photo for his grandmother as a gift since they never had one. Mu Wanqing, seeing his state, curtly stated she had already bought a gift and asked him to leave so she could sleep. Liu Qing, as he left, repeated his question about Feng Cong being her only source of happiness, urging her to tell him if it were true.
Later, Feng Cong met with Fu Jundie, hoping she would help him reconcile with Mu Wanqing. He even revealed his knowledge that she had exposed the Feng Group, which led to his separation from Mu Wanqing. As Fu Jundie found herself in a difficult position, Lei Shuo dramatically burst in, pretending to be her jealous boyfriend, claiming she stood him up for Feng Cong. He secretly urged Fu Jundie to play along and then pulled her away.
Fu Jundie expressed her intention to determine if Feng Cong knew about her role in exposing the Feng Group, but Lei Shuo advised her that some things were better left unknown. Meanwhile, Yang Zhentian accompanied his pregnant wife, Yu Lu, to her parents' house. On the way, they encountered Yu’s father. Yu Lu pleaded with her father to take Yang Zhentian to the company, hoping to give him more opportunities, despite her father’s belief that Yang Zhentian was incompetent.
Yang Zhentian, keen to prove himself, promised Yu’s father he would secure the lucrative cooperation with Weikai Group. Yu’s father, though reluctantly agreeing due to his daughter's insistence, warned Yang Zhentian of severe consequences if he ever mistreated Yu Lu. On their way home, Yang Zhentian and Yu Lu unexpectedly met Na Mu. Yu Lu, who had been engrossed in Na Mu’s live stream, was thrilled and asked for a photo. Yang Zhentian quickly pulled her away, citing her pregnancy.
Unbeknownst to Yu Lu, Na Mu subtly slipped a room key into Yang Zhentian's pocket. Later, Yang Zhentian, after dropping Yu Lu home, went to the hotel room to meet Na Mu, embracing her happily. He chastised her for the risky move with the room key, fearing Yu Lu's discovery, but Na Mu teased him, implying he wouldn’t need to see her if he was so worried.
Yang Zhentian explained his need to maintain appearances with Yu Lu to secure financial and material resources from the Yu Group. Na Mu, feeling slighted, then provocatively asked him who he found prettier between her and Yu Lu.
