Yang Kang and Mu Nianci hurried all the way to Niu Family Village. To save money, the two tightened their belts. Mu Nianci was already used to this kind of life. She worried that Yang Kang might find such a life undignified. Yang Kang told Mu Nianci not to worry about him; he said they wouldn't feel undignified earning money through their own efforts. Huang Yaoshi missed his wife Feng Heng.

Since his wife's passing, his daughter Huang Rong became his sole reliance. He accompanied Huang Rong in practicing martial arts and studying. Later, Huang Rong always secretly ran to her mother's grave to talk about her worries, and Huang Yaoshi knew he couldn't keep his daughter anymore. Guo Jing came to Peach Blossom Island alone to find Huang Rong, but he was trapped on Peach Blossom Island and couldn't find a way out.

He unexpectedly walked into Qingyin Cave and met Zhou Botong. Zhou Botong pretended to be Huang Yaoshi and told Guo Jing to try and walk out of the Peach Blossom Formation, but Guo Jing tried dozens of times according to the method but couldn't find a way out. Finally, Guo Jing realized he was being tricked and also learned that the person before him was not Huang Yaoshi.

Zhou Botong said he had been trapped on Peach Blossom Island for fifteen years. Guo Jing learned that Zhou Botong knew Huang Rong, asked him to help find Huang Rong, and said he would also help Zhou Botong leave the island. Yang Kang and Mu Nianci performed in the streets to earn money for their journey home. Officers appeared and demanded official permits from the two.

Mu Nianci didn't know that street performances required permits, but Yang Kang thought they were deliberately making things difficult for them. Mu Nianci originally wanted to give the money they earned to the officers to settle the matter, but the officers became lustful and wanted to take her away. In anger, Yang Kang injured these officers. Mu Nianci didn't want trouble and persuaded Yang Kang to leave. Huang Rong talked about her worries in front of her mother's grave.

Yang Kang saw that Mu Nianci liked a jade hairpin on the street. He specifically used a jade pendant from the prince's manor to exchange for the jade hairpin and wanted to give it to Mu Nianci.

Guo Jing originally wanted the people delivering food to help him send a letter to Huang Rong, but these people feared Huang Yaoshi and naturally wouldn't agree to help. Zhou Botong told Guo Jing that these people were villains from outside the island, captured by Huang Yaoshi and had their tongues cut off.

Guo Jing found a note from Huang Rong inside a steamed bun, but it was snatched away by Zhou Botong and destroyed. Zhou Botong thought that if Huang Yaoshi knew Huang Rong and Guo Jing were secretly in contact, he definitely wouldn't let Guo Jing off.
