The Eternal Love 2 Episode 25 Recap
> The Eternal Love 2 Recap
That night in the Crown Prince's study, Mo Jingkang reported to Mo Yihuai that the Royal Command token had been easily retrieved from the Eighth Prince's palace. The theft occurred while the Eighth Prince's soldiers were in disarray, having left their posts to aid him after his recent attack. Mo Yihuai, satisfied, declared this a crucial step in his plan. He then inquired about the investigation into the Emperor's assassination attempt.
Mo Jingkang produced a secret letter, written by Dugu Yan to the assassins, which proved her intent to frame Mo Liancheng. Mo Jingkang explained that the assassins, members of the Hongshun Party, were captured by Dugu Yan's henchman, Eunuch Hu. They initially lied about destroying the letter to protect their leader, but Mo Jingkang uncovered their deception and obtained the evidence.
Mo Yihuai, holding the letter, affirmed his resolve to complete what Dugu Yan started and bring down the Eighth Prince. At the Eighth Prince's palace, Qu Xiaotan tearfully cradled the severely wounded Mo Liancheng while the guilt-ridden Eighth Prince stood by. Mo Liancheng reassured the Prince, stating that he was someone who did not belong there and that this tribulation might set things right. His only remaining wish was for the Prince to protect Qu Xiaotan.
As Mo Liancheng lost consciousness, Yu Hao arrived with unsettling news: someone had stolen the Royal Command token during the chaos. He also reported that Liu Qianshui, the only one who could save Mo Liancheng, was waiting outside and would only enter if Qu Xiaotan personally invited him. Once Liu Qianshui arrived, he sent Qu Xiaotan away to rest and began transferring his spiritual energy to Mo Liancheng.
As he did, the Eighth Prince experienced vivid flashes of Mo Liancheng's memories, seeing their past lives' joys and sorrows and the complex events of their modern existence. Tears streamed down the Eighth Prince's face as he became fully convinced of the time-traveler's identity and story. The next morning, a recovered Mo Liancheng was chatting with Qu Xiaotan in the Snow Courtyard when the Eighth Prince arrived.
He inadvertently revealed that he had seen everything about their past and present lives, leaving Qu Xiaotan feeling completely exposed. The Prince then asked about her calling Mo Liancheng "Si Niang Pao" and her constant demands for a divorce letter. Mo Liancheng mischievously fabricated elaborate explanations, claiming "Si Niang Pao" was a term of endearment meaning "the person who greatly satisfies the mother-in-law."
He then alleged that her requests for a divorce were a unique hobby, as she wanted him to "keep marrying her repeatedly." Annoyed and amused, Qu Xiaotan stormed off to cool down, but as she turned a corner, a figure holding a bell drugged and abducted her. Yu Hao returned to report Qu Xiaotan's kidnapping. The Eighth Prince blamed himself for teasing her, but believed the Crown Prince wouldn't harm her.
Just then, Eunuch Xue arrived with an imperial edict summoning Liu Shang to an audience with the Emperor. An uneasy Eighth Prince could only watch as Mo Liancheng departed for the palace. The Emperor, with Mo Yihuai, led Liu Shang to a stone bridge. Suddenly, a black-clad figure appeared and threw the unconscious Qu Xiaotan into the water below. Without hesitation, Liu Shang leaped in to save her.
Although he rescued her, the water dissolved his human-skin mask, revealing a face identical to the Eighth Prince's. Mo Yihuai confessed to the shocked Emperor that this was a trap he had set to expose the deception. He argued that since the Eighth Prince had previously established his alibi by showing he had no new wound from the assassination attempt, a substitute must have been used.
He proposed that checking both men's chests for the real prince's distinctive old arrow wound would reveal the truth. Mo Liancheng, realizing they were caught, stepped forward. He declared the assassination was a setup to frame the Eighth Prince and unbuttoned his garment, revealing the tell-tale wound on his chest. Enraged by the deception, the Emperor ordered his arrest. The Fourteenth Prince tried to explain, but was silenced. The Emperor then demanded the Royal Command token.
The Eighth Prince, now exposed as the substitute, replied that it had been stolen. This news further infuriated the Emperor, who ordered both men to be taken to the Celestial Prison and forbade any visitors. Qu Xiaotan awoke to Jingxin, who explained that the Crown Prince had used her to expose Mo Liancheng's true identity, leading to both him and the Eighth Prince being imprisoned.
Frantic, Qu Xiaotan wanted to break them out, but Jingxin calmed her by revealing that the Fourteenth Prince was already seeking help from the Empress Dowager. In the imperial court, officials demanded the death penalty for the Eighth Prince for treason. Mo Yihuai, however, strategically suggested life imprisonment to neutralize him as a political threat. Meanwhile, in the Celestial Prison, the Eighth Prince and Mo Liancheng were surprisingly calm.
Mo Liancheng broke the tension by cheekily asking if the Prince had seen his and Tan'er's "wedding night" during their soul connection. A flustered Eighth Prince insisted he only saw "fragments." On a serious note, the Prince expressed his gratitude, finally understanding that Mo Liancheng had given up a chance to return to his own world to save Dongyue. He vowed to trust him completely.
Mo Liancheng sighed, admitting he could disappear at any moment, and made the Prince promise to protect the naive Qu Xiaotan if he was gone. They agreed they had to escape and find the real assassin to prove their innocence. As the Emperor was about to sentence the Eighth Prince to life imprisonment, the Empress Dowager arrived. She argued that since the prince had entered the palace under an imperial summons, he was likely framed.
The Emperor relented, ordering Mo Yihuai and the Fourteenth Prince to jointly reinvestigate the case. Later, the Empress Dowager visited the prison, bringing Mo Liancheng food. She expressed her deep disappointment in him for deceiving the Emperor with a substitute, regardless of his reasons, and told him she could not help him further.
