Qu Jianglin held Qu Xiaotan captive in the Qu residence, locking her in with Jingxin. He menacingly warned Qu Xiaotan that if she dared to play any more tricks, he would make Jingxin’s life a living hell. Qu Xiaotan fiercely told him to come at her instead and leave Jingxin alone. At that moment, a servant announced the arrival of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess.

Surprised, Qu Jianglin ordered more guards to watch the two women before rushing off to greet his guests. Once he left, Jingxin expressed her concern over Qu Xiaotan being caught again and wondered about Mo Liancheng’s condition. Crown Prince Mo Yihuai, claiming to be accompanying Qu Pan'er on a family visit, quickly revealed his true intention to see Qu Tan'er.

Qu Jianglin made excuses, stating that Tan'er was ill from her work in the Eighth Prince's residence and that it was improper for Mo Yihuai to show such concern for his sister-in-law. Hearing this, Mo Yihuai, without regard for Qu Pan'er's feelings, turned and left with her. Meanwhile, Liu Qianshui watched over the unconscious Mo Liancheng, puzzled as to why Qu Jianglin could activate the Soul Bead's power when only its host should be able to.

The Eighth Prince asked Liu Qianshui about the bead's nature and how he and "Mister" (Liu Shang) came to possess it. Liu Qianshui deflected, saying it no longer mattered since Qu Jianglin had it. The Eighth Prince then pressed for Liu Shang's identity and Qu Tan'er's true background. Liu Qianshui admitted her identity was complex, but confirmed she was not the Qu family's second daughter. As for Mo Liancheng, Liu Qianshui said he had already explained himself.

The Eighth Prince confessed he struggled to believe Mo Liancheng's claim that they were the same person, so Liu Qianshui suggested he wait for Mo Liancheng to awaken and ask him directly. To aid Mo Liancheng, Liu Qianshui performed a ritual to connect the Eighth Prince's soul with Mo Liancheng's, intending to transfer some of the Eighth Prince's primordial spirit to him. He warned the Eighth Prince that he would see images from Mo Liancheng's memories.

During the connection, the Eighth Prince experienced Mo Liancheng's heart-wrenching pain and witnessed his history: seeing a modern version of Mo Liancheng leap from a cliff to save Qu Xiaotan, their shared past of deep love and countless trials, and the moment they unleashed a massive energy that twisted time and space, separating them.

The Eighth Prince then saw Mo Liancheng travel to Qu Xiaotan's world, a modern city, where he found a version of her from before they had ever met. He resolved to re-enter her life and win her love again, only to find himself clumsy and desperate. The Eighth Prince then encountered Mo Liancheng's primordial spirit in the mindscape.

He asked if the "Chengcheng" from Tan'er's letter was him and if he, too, was destined to lose Tan'er, expressing his fear of such heartbreak. Mo Liancheng replied that they were the same in their willingness to suffer for the one they love. The Fourteenth Prince, on his way to check on Jingxin, saw Qu Jianglin furtively transporting a large box out of the residence late at night.

Sensing something was amiss, he followed the procession to the Serene Soul Altar, a former imperial retreat for secluded cultivation. Realizing he needed to uncover the truth, he decided to return to the palace and inform the Eighth Prince. At the Serene Soul Altar, Qu Jianglin chained Qu Xiaotan to an altar and demanded to know why there were two Eighth Princes.

When she refused to answer, he smiled strangely, declaring that once he sacrificed her to the Soul Bead, all versions of the Eighth Prince would submit to him. He explained that after confirming the Soul Bead reacted to her, he was certain she was its true host. Qu Jianglin handed her the Soul-Wandering Flute and commanded her to play it to open a sealed jade box. Unfamiliar with the instrument, Qu Xiaotan's random notes failed.

Impatient, Qu Jianglin decided to forcibly absorb the Soul Bead's power, using his dark magic to pull her into the air. In a daze, Qu Xiaotan relived fragments of her past with Mo Liancheng, confirming his stories about their shared history were true. Mo Liancheng awoke to find the Eighth Prince unconscious beside him.

Realizing the Eighth Prince had sacrificed his own energy to save him, and knowing his own fate was sealed, Mo Liancheng begged Liu Qianshui not to transfer any more primordial spirit, unwilling to sacrifice his original self's life. Just then, Yu Hao reported that the Fourteenth Prince urgently needed to see him. Mo Liancheng asked Liu Qianshui to watch over the Eighth Prince and went to meet Fourteenth.

Upon learning Qu Jianglin had gone to the Serene Soul Altar, Mo Liancheng recalled that the altar was secretly built to honor the Qu family's guardianship of the Soul Bead. He immediately deduced that Qu Xiaotan was there and rushed to rescue her. Meanwhile, Qu Jianglin sent Qu Pan'er to deliver food to Qu Xiaotan. Desperate, Xiaotan confessed she was not the real Qu Tan'er and that their rivalry was a misunderstanding.

Pan'er admitted she had heard rumors from her father but lamented that it didn't matter if Mo Yihuai didn't believe it. Xiaotan then proposed a plan: Pan'er would help Mo Yihuai rescue her, touching him with her selflessness. Then, Xiaotan would publicly reject Mo Yihuai for Mo Liancheng, leaving the heartbroken prince vulnerable for Pan'er to comfort and win over. Convinced, Qu Pan'er agreed to the scheme.

Qu Pan'er presented Mo Yihuai with Qu Xiaotan's personal pendant as proof, telling him her father had imprisoned Tan'er in the Serene Soul Altar's secret underground chamber to use her as a sacrifice for the Soul Bead. Horrified but suspicious of Pan'er's motives, Mo Yihuai questioned her. Pan'er tearfully explained that despite her jealousy, they were sisters, and all she truly wanted was his happiness. Though still skeptical, he accompanied her to the chamber.

He found a weak Qu Xiaotan chained to the altar and rushed to her side. Upon waking, she looked at him with disappointment, asking why he had come instead of Mo Liancheng. As Mo Yihuai moved to free her, Qu Xiaotan saw her father approaching and cried out, "Father, don't!" Qu Jianglin appeared, enraged that she had betrayed him.
