The Blood of Youth Episode 31 Recap
> The Blood of Youth Recap
Xiao Se and Xiao Yu made a wager: if Xiao Chong's eyesight was cured and the little doctor fairy Hua Jin remained safe and sound, then Xiao Yu would reveal Wu Xin’s whereabouts. Otherwise, Snowfall Villa would be given to Xiao Yu.
As soon as the words fell, Xiao Yueli charged out of the carriage with a blade in hand, while Lei Wujie and Jin Wei stood guard outside the room to ensure Hua Jin's treatment of Xiao Chong went undisturbed. These assassins moved swiftly and struck ruthlessly. They were not to be underestimated—the frightening part was their immunity to fatigue and pain, something even Su Muyu noticed.
Because drugged assassins could only maintain combat strength for the time it takes an incense stick to burn, Xiao Yu signaled Su Changhe to summon Wu Xin. Not far off, a shadow had long been waiting atop the eaves. Dressed in a black robe with a hat brim pulled low, his face was hidden in the darkness. After a sharp whistle, Wu Xin leapt from the rooftop into the Bai Royal Residence. At that moment, he had lost his mind.
With one palm strike that seemed to blot out the sky, even the combined strength of Xiao Se, Lei Wujie, Jin Wei, and Sikong Qianluo couldn’t gain the upper hand. At the crucial moment, Xiao Se called out Wu Xin’s name, which slightly brought him back to consciousness. Xiao Yu regretted dispatching Wu Xin in such haste.
However, he still had one final card to play: the vicious Lao Jiu, Xiao Jinxia, who had long been lurking at Xiao Chong’s side. Just as Xiao Yu proudly believed himself to be the winner of the bet, Xiao Jinxia burst out of the room severely injured and died after only a few words. Once Xiao Yu and the others had left, Xiao Se and his companions hurried into the room.
Fortunately, Mu Chunfeng was unharmed, but Hua Jin was seriously wounded. Lei Wujie discovered a lotus-shaped hidden weapon beside Xiao Chong’s bed—Tang Lian's signature "Three Inches of Ground. " If someone were attacked in their sleep, the mechanism would trigger and kill the assassin in an instant. The Sword Immortal of Wrath entered from outside, saying that he had long felt something odd about Xiao Jinxia and had even personally written a letter to warn Xiao Chong to stay alert.
Unfortunately, Xiao Chong valued brotherhood and didn’t heed the warning. Meanwhile, Xiao Yu returned to his residence in a rage. Despite his careful planning, he was outmaneuvered by Xiao Se. He immediately sent someone to contact Grand Monitor Jin Xuan for help. Soon after, the Scholar Sword Immortal Xie Xuan visited Qi Tianchen to share his experiences in the martial world and news about Wu Xin. Just then, Xiao Se and Lei Wujie arrived at the Astrological Bureau.
Upon hearing that Hua Jin was severely injured, Xie Xuan hurried to the royal residence, while Xiao Se stayed behind to speak with Qi Tianchen. Xiao Se revealed Wu Xin’s recent troubles and suspected he had fallen victim to the dark sorcery of the Western Chu drugmen. Before the fall of Western Chu, mysterious alchemists would refine people into weapons with medicine. Today, only three people from Medicine King Valley might know the secret—most likely the Ghost Doctor Night Crow.
Qi Tianchen revealed the method of breaking the spell: all drugmen have a master, and the alchemist uses blood as a guide. This blood must come from a close relative—usually a parent. Upon hearing this, Xiao Se immediately thought of the Declared Consort. As Xiao Se and Lei Wujie left the Astrological Bureau, they ran into Li Fansong and Fei Xuan. The four exchanged greetings and mentioned that Su Changhe had appeared in Tianqi.
Li Fansong was now studying Confucian swordsmanship under Xie Xuan, to Lei Wujie’s admiration. Li Fansong swore to avenge his master Zhao Yuzhen. Thanks to Xie Xuan’s treatment, Hua Jin finally stabilized. The news reached the palace, and Ming Dedi learned what had happened at the Bai Royal Residence. Xiao Chong was heartbroken over Cang Ming’s sacrifice of his eyesight, and shocked by Xiao Jinxia’s betrayal.
However, he did not want rumors to spread that the Xiao imperial brothers had turned on one another, so he had Jin Yu pass a message to Xiao Yueli: publicly announce that Xiao Jinxia’s death was due to accidentally triggering a trap. Xiao Se encountered Xie Xuan outside and expressed his thanks. He then met with Xiao Yueli to discuss obtaining a drop of the Declared Consort’s blood—he would do whatever it took to save Wu Xin.
Meanwhile, Mu Yumou discovered the assassins had become drugmen, and couldn’t understand how Su Changhe had grown so cruel. But Su Muyu believed his ambition had consumed him, and now that the Dark River was entangled in the chaos, there was no turning back. Since it was a grave offense for a prince to enter the palace uninvited, Xiao Se and Lei Wujie disguised themselves as maids with Xiao Yueli’s help to sneak into Jingtai Palace.
They explained their purpose directly. The Declared Consort, willing to save her son, offered a drop of her blood. But just as Xiao Se and Lei Wujie left, Xiao Yu appeared, drawing his sword and forcing his mother not to interfere with his plans. Outside the palace, a black-robed figure blocked Xiao Se and Lei Wujie’s path. From the mask, Xiao Se recognized him as the one who had crippled his martial arts.
Even after all these years, Xiao Se was no match for him. Jin Yu arrived in time to cover their escape but ultimately died at the hands of the black-robed man—Jin Xuan.
