Wu Xin stood up and walked straight toward Xiao Se. His gaze swept past Lei Wujie, and he noticed that Lei had a naturally pure heart, immune to the influence of heart demons. When Wu Xin invited Xiao Se to travel together, Xiao Se responded coldly and bluntly. But Wu Xin paid no mind to his refusal; he grabbed both their shoulders and, using lightness skill, vanished with Xiao Se and Lei Wujie before the eyes of everyone present.

In the martial world, Ji Ruofeng, the chronicler of Jianghu, paid tribute to his old friend Wang You, lamenting that this eminent monk eventually met his doom—all because of Wu Xin, perhaps a fate destined by heaven. As he finished speaking, Ji Ruofeng received news that Prince Yong’an, Xiao Chuhe, now going by the alias Xiao Se, had passed through Belle’s Manor and been taken away by Ye Anshi.

Ji Ruofeng pondered for a moment, thinking it might be time to meet this disciple of his in person. Lei Wujie felt like he had become a hostage, repeatedly plotting to escape but always failing, drawing mockery from Xiao Se. Xiao Se never imagined that the renowned Lei Hong would have such a blockheaded disciple.

After all, when Lei Hong was young, he managed to restore the Fire Burn Technique using only a fragmentary manual, and at his peak, his reputation far surpassed that of the sect leader Lei Qianhu. However, the ancestors of the Lei Clan had vowed to abandon the most commonly used weapons of the martial world and focused entirely on the development of firearms.

Yet Lei Hong defied this creed, training in swordsmanship and forging a terrifying sword by combining it with Lei Clan gunpowder. It was said that whenever the Terror Sword was unsheathed, thunder would roar, and flames would blaze across the sky. With this sword, Lei Hong roamed the martial world until he was finally defeated by the Snow Moon Sword Immortal Li Hanyi, after which he disappeared without a trace.

The outside world speculated endlessly—some said Lei Hong had returned to Lei Fortress for closed-door cultivation, vowing never to emerge unless he surpassed the Sword Immortal; others claimed he had been expelled from the Lei Clan for violating ancestral teachings. Lei Wujie, upon hearing all this, could no longer sit still. Just as he was lamenting the injustice faced by his master Lei Hong, he suddenly remembered that he had left the Terror Sword on the roadside.

Xiao Se could only shake his head in exasperation, sighing repeatedly at Lei Hong’s misfortune in taking on such a clumsy disciple. Meanwhile, Wu Xin was seated calmly in the river, regulating his breathing, with memories of the past—his father’s murder, the bond with his master—entwining within his heart. Before long, Xiao Se saw Wu Xin, neatly dressed, standing alone by the riverside gazing into the distance.

Xiao Se was suddenly reminded of a book describing an immortal walking through mist and clouds, clothed in white—very much like Wu Xin at that moment. Lei Wujie agreed at once, noting how Wu Xin had carried them swiftly all this way without any sign of fatigue. If he wasn’t an immortal, how could he possess such otherworldly abilities? At this moment, Wu Xin approached the two.

Upon hearing that Lei Wujie was seriously injured, he lifted him and soared deep into the river. Walking on the waves as if on solid ground, he stopped at the center of the river. Lei Wujie felt a surge of inner energy pass from Wu Xin’s palm into his body. Listening to the sounds of the wind and water, a deep tranquility washed over him.

Then the river began to swirl into a massive vortex, surrounding them until his injuries were fully healed. Fairy Rui finished applying medicine to Tang Lian’s wounds and then entered the main hall. From Monk Wuchan’s account, she finally learned that Wu Xin was actually the Young Lord of the Tianwaitian Sect, also known as the Demon Sect.

Twelve years ago, the Grand Lord Ye Dingzhi had led the sect to launch a war, but he was defeated and killed, leaving behind a son, Ye Anshi. Tianwaitian signed the “Lock Mountains and Rivers Pact” with the Central Plains, handing over Ye Anshi as a hostage. He was renamed Wu Xin, with the promise that Tianwaitian would not step into the Central Plains for twelve years. Now, the twelve-year pact had reached its end.

Tianwaitian wanted to retrieve their young lord Wu Xin, but Wu Xin refused to leave with the White-Haired Deity. Instead, he insisted on taking Xiao Se and Lei Wujie with him to Dafanyin Temple. All of this could be summed up in one word: “Money. ” The saying goes, with money you can travel the world; without it, you can’t move an inch. Wu Xin saw Xiao Se as his money bag.

Unfortunately, the money bag was flat broke, and in the end, had to sell a thousand-gold fur coat just to get ten taels of silver. In truth, Xiao Se had already guessed Wu Xin’s identity. Since Wu Xin didn’t wish to reveal it, Xiao Se saw no need to expose him. After a hearty meal and drink, the three unexpectedly ran into infamous bandits. At the bandit leader’s order, Lei Wujie was surrounded and attacked.

Just as he was about to cry for help, he found that Wu Xin and Xiao Se had already vanished without a trace. When Lei Wujie awoke, he discovered he was imprisoned in a dungeon, where he encountered a mysterious man in the next cell. They shared a drink together. The man boldly declared his intention to become emperor. Lei Wujie paid him no mind, thinking he was just drunk and rambling.

Little did he know, this man was actually Lord Chi, Xiao Yu—the younger brother of Xiao Se and Wu Xin’s half-brother (same mother, different father). As Xiao Yu had predicted, Xiao Se and Wu Xin would return to the camp to rescue Lei Wujie. The two captured a bandit and interrogated him for the dungeon’s location.

Unable to endure the torture, the bandit revealed everything about the camp, including the presence of a mysterious man whom the bandit chief respectfully addressed as “young master. ” When Xiao Se infiltrated the dungeon, Xiao Yu had already left. He had deduced the visitor’s identity from the wine. Later, when Xiao Yu realized Wu Xin was coming to break Lei Wujie out, a thunderous explosion rang outside.

Lei Wujie had thrown several explosives to create chaos and escaped the camp with Wu Xin and Xiao Se on horseback. Using the bandits' hands, they cleaned up their pursuers.
