Just as Lord Bai Xiao Chong was turning back to meet his ninth brother, he did not expect that the Ninth Prince, Xiao Jinxia, had already arrived at Dark River. Walking upstream along the river, he finally encountered a man in black holding a paper umbrella at the end of the path. Under his guidance, Xiao Jinxia met the patriarch of the assassin organization Dark River—Su Changhe—and discussed cooperation under the identity of Xiao Chuhe.

Lei Wujie first brought Xiao Se to Wangcheng Mountain. Zhao Yuzhen sensed the Sword of Listening Rain and mistakenly thought Li Hanyi had come. Unexpectedly, it was just a loudmouthed young brat. Over the years, Zhao Yuzhen had always been waiting for Li Hanyi, not knowing she had come several times but was stopped outside by the elders. The whole Wangcheng Mountain knew, except him, who was kept in the dark.

This time, Lei Wujie came to persuade Zhao Yuzhen to descend the mountain and meet Li Hanyi, and incidentally revealed that the Lei Clan would soon hold a Hero Meeting. Zhao Yuzhen hesitated for a moment, recited a poem, and returned up the mountain. Lei Wujie was utterly confused, having no idea what he meant. However, while passing Dark River, they suddenly encountered a group of assassins—the very organization that occupied the top eight ranks of the League of Assassins. Lei Wujie attempted a sword strike but was quickly overwhelmed. He stepped back and solemnly stated that without Senior Brother Tang Lian present, it was up to the two of them to handle these assassins.

No sooner had he spoken than Xiao Se used lightness skills to flee, his mind full of the principle: “In all martial arts, speed is the key to victory. ” But the assassins' lightness skills were even better. Fortunately, Sikong Qianluo appeared just in time, using a smoke bomb to help everyone escape. Now they didn’t need to worry about food or lodging.

Tang Lianyue of the Xuanwu Hall had received news about Xiao Se and looked deeply concerned. Tang Lian brought Ye Ruoyi to report to their master and unexpectedly learned that Ye Ruoyi had deliberately lied, claiming the Tang Clan had a cure, while actually harboring other motives.

Tang Lianyue understood Ye Ruoyi’s purpose and handed the Xuanwu token to Tang Lian, stating that the Tang Clan had already been bought off by Lord Bai Xiao Chong and would soon betray Xueyue City. Sure enough, right after this was said, many Tang Clan disciples appeared. Tang Lianyue instructed Tang Lian to take Ye Ruoyi away. Just as they exited, they encountered the Grand Elder.

Because of Tang Lianyue's face, the Grand Elder did not trouble Tang Lian and Ye Ruoyi, letting them leave the Tang Clan. Meanwhile, Lei Wujie, strapped for cash, could only order plain noodles for Xiao Se and Sikong Qianluo. Fortunately, Xiao Se didn’t fuss over it. On the contrary, he unusually tolerated Lei Wujie, which surprised him. Lei Wujie talked earnestly about loyalty and responsibility.

Xiao Se couldn’t help but ask what he would do if the person he protected wanted to kill his brother. Before Xiao Se could reveal his identity, Sikong Qianluo and Lei Wujie suddenly felt weak all over. The three of them then noticed the black-clothed man sitting beside them—it was none other than Mu Ying of the Dark River organization, who had mastered the Water Condensation Technique and could combine it with Drunken Finger Style.
