> The Blood of Youth Recap

During the chaotic era, Emperor Tianwu, Xiao Yi, rose with his sword and founded the Northern Li Kingdom. The nation endured for over two hundred years, reaching its peak under Emperor Mingde's reign, where the country was strong and admired by all surrounding states. Emperor Mingde had a son named Xiao Chuhe, the sixth in line, a prodigious talent and the best candidate for crown prince.

However, four years prior, Emperor Mingde’s brother, Lord Langya, was accused of treason and sentenced to death. Xiao Chuhe pleaded for him in court, enraging the emperor, and was demoted to commoner status and exiled to Qingzhou. Now the position of crown prince remains undecided, and the rest of the imperial sons are embroiled in power struggles, destabilizing the court and unsettling the realm. As for Xiao Chuhe, who was exiled, he had long changed his name to Xiao Se.

The world is unaware of his whereabouts, but in truth, he lives in seclusion on the frontier, running a place called Snowfall Villa, which serves as a must-stop inn for travelers. However, in recent months, guests had stopped coming to Snowfall Villa, even wages became tight, and the staff suggested the inn needed renovation. Xiao Se refused firmly, simply because he couldn't afford it. He sat alone by the window watching the snowfall, sighing deeply in a truly desolate scene.

Just as Xiao Se was considering selling the inn, a flamboyantly dressed young man in bright red suddenly arrived, shining like the blazing sun and radiating the heat of wealth. Xiao Se quickly got up to greet him with a cupped fist, but the youth ignored him completely, walked past, sat at a table, and boldly ordered a bowl of plain noodles and the cheapest wine. Already in a bad mood, Xiao Se was thoroughly unimpressed by him.

Then, dozens of rugged, bandit-like men appeared at Snowfall Villa. Though the red-clad youth seemed stingy, at least he paid for his food, unlike the bandits who clearly came to stir up trouble. Before Xiao Se could act, the youth introduced himself as Lei Wujie from the Lei Clan Fortress, an unknown figure in the martial world who firmly believed he would eventually become famous.

Naturally, the bandits dismissed him as a naive rookie, but the youth astonishingly defeated them all. Sparks flew and blades clashed as the bandits fled in panic, leaving the inn in ruins with tables blown to pieces. Xiao Se demanded compensation to no avail. Upon hearing that Lei Wujie was heading to Xueyue City and remembering that he had the same destination, Xiao Se proposed they travel together.

In the autumn of the twentieth year of the Mingde era, the abbot Wang You of Hanshui Temple passed away. Tang Lian, the top disciple of Xueyue City, was ordered to escort the golden coffin to Biluo City. Along the way, he faced numerous martial artists trying to intercept him, but he dispatched them with ease. On a snowy night, while passing an abandoned temple, Tang Lian encountered a white-haired man wielding a jade sword and possessing exquisite qinggong skills.

At that moment, Xiao Se and Lei Wujie entered from outside. Tang Lian quickly extinguished the fire and hid in a corner to observe them. Lei Wujie, unaware of the situation, chattered away while warming himself by the fire. Soon after, he smelled the fragrance of roses. A man and a woman appeared at the door—the man was tall and expressionless, wielding a blade; the woman was alluring and seductive, smiling subtly.

They were Moon Ji and Lord Ming, tied for ninth on the League of Assassins. It was said that Moon Ji delivered the death invitation with a smile, and Lord Ming followed with a fatal strike. Those who received their death note invariably died. Lei Wujie felt no fear, but rather excitement. Tang Lian, seeing his foolishness, intervened, landing between Lei Wujie and Moon Ji.

Unfortunately, Tang Lian had yet to recover from an old injury and was no match for Lord Ming. Moon Ji revealed her Shuyi Sword and pressed forward using her Shadow Mimic Technique. Lei Wujie finally realized the dire situation and transformed into Red Hair, unleashing the Lei Clan Fortress's Fiery Scorching Technique. Just as he was about to display his might, Moon Ji and Lord Ming suddenly retreated as if following an order.

Xiao Se leaned lazily against the window, watching the scene until it ended, mocking Lei Wujie’s youthful recklessness—challenging Lord Ming knowing he was no match. Sikong Qianluo sneaked out only to be caught by Tang Lian, who wanted to report to their third master, angering her. She mounted her horse and rode off.

The next morning, the red-clad youth drove the carriage through wind and snow while Xiao Se and Tang Lian sat inside, ignoring his silly chatter and discussing the golden coffin. Rumor had it that the coffin contained immense wealth or martial arts secrets capable of dominating the world. But to Xiao Se, it most likely held the corpse of Master Wang You.

Upon reaching Sangu City, a must-pass en route to Biluo City, they found it had grown from a small village into a commercial city due to its location on the border and open trade policies. The liveliest place in the city was Belle's Manor, filled with beautiful women and wealthy patrons splurging freely—truly a den of luxury. The owner of Belle’s Manor, Fairy Rui, was breathtakingly beautiful.

Her red ribbons always arrived before she did, flower petals fluttered through the air—an impressive sight. Fairy Rui was the Xueyue City contact here and also Tang Lian’s confidante. To outsiders, she appeared to flirt playfully with Tang Lian, but in truth, she was passing on critical intelligence. Xiao Se watched calmly until Fairy Rui let go of Tang Lian and turned to ask if he was willing to gamble—trading Snowfall Villa for ten baskets of pearls.

Fairy Rui ordered the place cleared, angering a merchant in a golden robe who was almost killed by her blade. Her actions silenced the crowd, asserting her dominance and warning that Xiao Se’s gamble wasn’t just for pearls—it was a real life-and-death wager.
