Lin Xichi adjusted her demeanor before answering Xu Fang's video call, trying to hide her illness. However, the severe nasal congestion in her voice and the visible presence of Lin Xi Geng, who was attending to her, immediately revealed to Xu Fang that she was unwell. Despite Lin Xichi's insistence that she was fine and had merely gotten caught in the rain, Xu Fang, keenly aware of her attempts to conceal things, reminded her not to keep secrets from him.

Lin Xi Geng assured Xu Fang that he would take good care of his sister, and Xu Fang also shared his own struggles with the repetitive diet of salads, hamburgers, spaghetti, and barbecue abroad. Meanwhile, Nie Yue was tired of her parents' constant attempts to arrange her life, including a suitable position offered by Uncle Wang. She revealed to them her plan to start her own business by taking over a shop, asking for their financial support.

Her father, suspecting Jiang Zheng Xu's influence, expressed disapproval, citing Nie Yue's neglected studies and lack of career focus since she started dating him. Nie Yue vehemently denied Jiang Zheng Xu's involvement, but her father soon called Jiang Zheng Xu directly, questioning why he had asked Nie Yue's father for money. Jiang Zheng Xu, his pride wounded, asserted that he could earn his own money and pay off his debts, rejecting any help.

Nie Yue apologized for not discussing it with him, admitting she feared his parents would look down on him. She then unveiled her detailed plan: to open an archery club combined with a café. She believed Jiang Zheng Xu, with his café experience and archery skills, could manage it, potentially even offering classes for kids and inviting friends Yao Wang and Yu Tong to help.

She envisioned herself as the lady boss and cashier, allowing Jiang Zheng Xu to pursue archery while earning money to clear their debts. Though impressed, Jiang Zheng Xu reiterated his desire to provide a better life for her with his own earnings, promising to pay off the debt and marry her within three years. Xu Fang’s thoughtful words about her mother's happiness resonated with Lin Xichi.

Instead of meeting at a café, she decided to visit Zheng Fang Fang at her home to eat her favorite spicy chicken, something she hadn't had in a long time. Upon arrival, Zheng Fang Fang welcomed her warmly. Chen Ding, however, remained hostile, telling her mother to mind her own daughter and leave her alone. Lin Xichi, having previously encountered Chen Ding, tried to calm the situation, even playfully recounting exaggerated stories of their past interactions to ease the tension.

Lin Xichi then gifted Chen Ding "Little Watermelon," a tortoise she had been looking after, suggesting that the pet was difficult to handle and required Chen Ding's unique care. Despite Chen Ding's initial coldness, Lin Xichi believed they could bond over the tortoise. As they ate the meal, filled with Lin Xichi’s favorite dishes, Lin Xichi couldn’t help but shed tears, covering her emotions by blaming the spicy chili.

The meal marked a significant step towards reconciliation, with Lin Xi Geng also present, making it a family gathering. Back at the hospital, Lin Xichi was reviewing the dismal PCR test results for a kitten diagnosed with feline distemper, anxious about its condition. Soon after, a distraught woman caused a scene in the hospital lobby, accusing the hospital of negligence and blaming Lin Xichi for her cat's death.

The owner, who admitted she knew Lin Xichi was an intern and had ignored instructions not to feed the cat, was now furious that her pet had died despite the money she spent. Lin Xichi, though saddened by the cat’s passing, silently endured the accusations. Chief Li intervened, calming the owner and explaining the severe, rapid progression of viral feline distemper, especially in young animals.

He affirmed that Lin Xichi, despite being an intern, was qualified to assist with treatments, and her diagnosis and handling of the case were appropriate. Lin Xichi confessed her feelings of inadequacy, but Chief Li reassured her by sharing his own past struggles as an intern and reminding her of the joy and responsibility of being a veterinarian. He urged her to be kind and determined, assuring her that her efforts were crucial for the animals who depended on her.

Later, during a video call, Xu Fang noted Lin Xichi's lingering sadness about the cat, despite her efforts to lighten the mood by recounting how she taught foreign teammates Chinese tongue twisters. Lin Xichi admitted that discussing the incident had brought back her grief. Xu Fang, ever protective, suggested she quit and offered to confront the cat owner himself, but Lin Xichi refused, asserting her love for her job and her growing resilience, stating that people would eventually be reasonable.

She observed that she had grown significantly more independent in his absence, joking that without him, her intelligence had soared since she no longer needed to rely on him. Xu Fang, in turn, found motivation in her progress, resolving to continue his own treatment and training. Yet, as their calls ended, the distance between them left both feeling the pangs of loneliness and worry.

A mishap involving Little Watermelon, who had fallen from a window, provided Lin Xichi another opportunity to connect with Chen Ding and mediate between Chen Ding and Zheng Fang Fang. When Chen Ding couldn’t find her tortoise, she immediately suspected Zheng Fang Fang, who admitted opening the window for ventilation.

Lin Xichi quickly provided a diagnosis, assuring them that Little Watermelon would be fine due to its shell, and even suggested installing a window screen for safety and ventilation, a solution that benefited both Chen Ding and her pet. Lin Xichi also offered Chen Ding empathetic advice on her thesis and life, telling her to let go of the past and not fear the future, and encouraged her to confide in Little Watermelon, asserting that the tortoise would understand.

This act of kindness and understanding melted Chen Ding's previous hostility. She not only thanked Lin Xichi for the tortoise but also warmly invited Lin Xichi and Lin Xi Geng to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival at her home, a testament to her changed attitude. Meanwhile, Xu Fang, deeply disturbed by Lin Xichi's casual mention of a robbery near her workplace, was consumed by worry for her safety, even contemplating abandoning his treatment and returning home.

He confided in Jiang Zheng Xu, expressing his feelings of inadequacy as a boyfriend unable to protect her from afar. Jiang Zheng Xu, now focused on his goal of earning money to pay off debts and establish an archery club with Nie Yue, offered steadfast support. He assured Xu Fang that he would handle everything regarding Lin Xichi's safety, instructing him to focus on his recovery.

True to his word, Jiang Zheng Xu, along with members of the archery team, began escorting Lin Xichi home from work. Lin Xichi recognized Xu Fang’s concern as the reason for their presence, and the team promised to take turns escorting her daily, reinforcing the bond of friendship and mutual support among them.
