Go Into Your Heart Episode 6 Recap
> Go Into Your Heart Recap
Cheng Liao arranged to meet Sheng Jingchu at the beach, a place she frequently visited. Sheng Jingchu arrived, mentioning he chose the location to avoid crowds and not impose by visiting her home. He mused that after spending time with people, he enjoys the scenery, and after getting tired of the scenery, he wants to spend time with people, subtly implying his desire to see her. Cheng Liao, blushing, quickly deflected by saying it was normal for friends to meet.
She then presented him with a special gift: a dish she had re-attempted to replicate the taste of his mother’s cooking. Sheng Jingchu tasted it, suggesting his memory of the taste might be fading due to time. Cheng Liao, however, vowed to perfectly recreate the taste for him, insisting on fulfilling her promise. Sheng Jingchu expressed concern about her effort, but she countered that making one dish was insufficient to thank him for his help.
He simply stated, "But it's enough for me," before she encouraged him to enjoy the meal. Meanwhile, at the Kyushu Dojo, Xie Lao expressed regret to Jiang Lao about the closure of Fangyuan Dojo. Jiang Lao explained that his attempt to turn Fangyuan into a commercial enterprise to expand and train more children had failed due to poor performance in tournaments and subsequent investor withdrawals.
Xie Lao criticized Jiang Lao for prioritizing commercialism over the true essence of Go – respecting masters and passing down the legacy. Jiang Lao retorted by questioning Xie Lao's financial approach and calling him an "old stubborn." Xie Lao countered by calling Jiang Lao an "old muddlehead" and pointing out Jiang Lao's hypocrisy in sending Sheng Jingchu out to find the meaning of life while remaining narrow-minded himself.
Xiao Lan and Cao Xihe observed Yao Ke accompanying Jiang Lao, immediately suspecting he was there to challenge them. Xie Chang An, however, reminded them of their duty as hosts and offered Yao Ke some fruit, but Xiao Lan and Cao Xihe refused, complaining about Yao Ke's past arrogance in defeating them. Xie Chang An admonished them for their narrow-mindedness, warning that their master would send them back to beginner class if he found out.
Xie Chang An later implored Xie Lao to convince Jiang Lao not to close Fangyuan Dojo, but Xie Lao stated it was Jiang Lao's decision. Jiang Lao revealed his plan to retire and asked about the possibility of joining Kyushu Dojo. Jiang Lao then confided in Xie Lao that his biggest concern was Yao Ke, who had been his student since age six.
He described Yao Ke as talented and composed, a former Tianyuan champion who only lost his title after Sheng Jingchu's emergence. Jiang Lao admitted Yao Ke’s resentment towards Sheng Jingchu stemmed from his ambition to be a powerful Go player, and he blamed himself for failing to guide Yao Ke. He earnestly requested Xie Lao to take Yao Ke as an apprentice, seeing him as the only one who could help.
Xie Lao, teasing Jiang Lao for his dramatic appeal, eventually agreed, but only if Yao Ke accepted the position of a junior student, as he hadn't taken new disciples in years. Jiang Lao confirmed Yao Ke was aware and willing. Subsequently, Yao Ke formally became Xie Lao’s student through a tea ceremony, serving tea to Xie Lao and all his new senior siblings, including Cao Xihe and Ding Lan.
Xie Lao instructed Xie Chang An to show Yao Ke around the dojo. Xiao Lan and Cao Xihe remained bewildered by their former rival becoming their junior. As Xie Chang An toured Yao Ke through the dojo, Yao Ke was particularly struck by a wall adorned solely with Sheng Jingchu's numerous trophies, fueling his envy. Xie Chang An explained that Sheng Jingchu was the pride of Kyushu, and their father considered raising him his greatest accomplishment.
Left alone, Yao Ke gazed at the trophies, silently vowing to understand Sheng Jingchu completely so he could eventually defeat him. Later, Xiao Lan and Cao Xihe subtly hinted to Yao Ke that, as a new junior, he should treat them to a welcoming meal, reminiscing about their own past lavish introductions. Catching on, Yao Ke offered to host dinner for everyone that night, including Sheng Jingchu, to foster camaraderie.
During the meal, Xie Lao reassured Yao Ke about his new role, emphasizing the informal atmosphere of Kyushu Dojo compared to Fangyuan, with his students being "playful and carefree." Yao Ke expressed his enthusiasm for learning new perspectives in Go. Noticing Sheng Jingchu's absence, Yao Ke inquired about his independent status.
Xie Lao explained that Sheng Jingchu, having joined the dojo at six and rarely leaving, was sent out to experience life beyond Go, an "assignment" he hoped would broaden Sheng Jingchu's horizons and elevate his Go mastery. Separately, Cheng Yi, a renowned TV host, was informed by her manager that her show’s ratings had declined. The station, in collaboration with Pinecone Video, suggested she co-host the new "Universal Challenge" program with Lisa, a host from Pinecone.
Cheng Yi vehemently rejected the idea, criticizing Lisa's lack of professionalism and stating she would not work with her. She asserted her commitment to "Sincere Conversation" and expressed her hope for the new show's success without her involvement if it meant working with Lisa. Lisa, overhearing the conversation, was enraged by Cheng Yi's disdain and vented her frustration at a boxing gym.
Cheng Liao tried to comfort her sister, but Cheng Yi, accustomed to success, brushed off her disappointment, claiming she had no interest in variety shows, before retreating to her room to cry privately. The "Universal Challenge" broadcast was about to begin. In the makeup room, world Go champion Ke Jie recognized Cheng Liao and jokingly asked if she was "dating Sheng Jingchu." Cheng Liao denied it, but Ke Jie continued to press her, asking if they had broken up.
Cheng Liao reluctantly admitted they were "ex-boyfriend and ex-girlfriend." Sheng Jingchu, who had arrived earlier and overheard their conversation, suddenly appeared. Ke Jie, surprised, asked about their true relationship. Sheng Jingchu wryly stated he was just a "male friend sitting in front of her," while Ke Jie playfully criticized Sheng Jingchu's vague romantic approach compared to his Go skills. Sheng Jingchu countered that Ke Jie's "gossiping level" was on par with his own Go prowess.
On stage, Lisa, the host, welcomed the special judges: psychologist You Jianing and Ke Jie. She then introduced the AI opponent, Bai Ze. The first challenge, "Image Analysis," saw contestant Song Jiachang attempting to find subtle differences in videos but ultimately losing to Bai Ze. Ke Jie remarked that humans could never beat AI in such tasks, even a genius like himself. You Jianing, however, encouraged the contestant to trust his intuition more.
The second challenge, "Voice Recognition," featured Lu Yiting, a London School of Economics and Political Science student. She performed impressively, completing the task faster than Bai Ze, but one error led to another AI victory. Cao Xihe, watching with Cheng Liao, light-heartedly compared his own listening skills to the expert. Finally, Lisa introduced the much-anticipated third contestant, Sheng Jingchu, the recent China Go Celebrity Tournament champion, to wild applause from the audience.
Cheng Liao and Cao Xihe moved closer to the stage. Lisa, making an attempt to flirt, greeted Sheng Jingchu, referencing their previous brief encounter in Suzhou. She challenged him to "Fingerprint Identification," where he had to memorize corresponding faces and fingerprints and then identify three specific fingerprints from a shuffled set. When asked about his confidence against the AI, Sheng Jingchu simply replied, "I don't know."
Despite his terse response, Sheng Jingchu flawlessly completed the challenge, tying with Bai Ze and astounding the audience. Lisa then asked Sheng Jingchu if he could increase the challenge's difficulty, and Sheng Jingchu agreed. You Jianing commented on this decision, noting the competitive spirit of challenging limits. Lisa, seizing the opportunity, unexpectedly called Cheng Liao onto the stage, much to everyone's surprise.
Lisa explained the new, harder rule: Sheng Jingchu had thirty seconds to find Cheng Liao's unique fingerprint from a complex overlay of forty individuals' fingerprints mixed with 200 other profiles. An audience member then provocatively stated that his success would depend on "how deep their relationship is," which Lisa echoed, adding that it would test "her weight in his heart." Cheng Liao was taken aback, but a staff member reassured her it was for "show effect."
Sheng Jingchu accepted the revised challenge. As Cheng Liao's fingerprints were scanned, Ke Jie, amused, asked her what was special about them. Cheng Liao, flustered, could only offer, "I see five fingers." With that, the challenge began.
