Go Into Your Heart Episode 3 Recap
> Go Into Your Heart Recap
The sea breeze was too cold, prompting Sheng Jingchu to offer to walk Cheng Liao home. Cheng Liao, however, aware of the recent gossip, felt it was a delicate time and they should maintain their distance. She quickly left, promising to return his coat later. Upon returning to Pinecone Video, Cheng Liao was given a new task by Ms. Liu: to follow Sheng Jingchu at all times during the upcoming Go Elite Tournament semifinals and finals in Suzhou.
Ms. Liu stressed that this assignment was crucial for Cheng Liao's full-time employment and that she shouldn't disappoint her or her sister, Cheng Yi. Reluctantly, Cheng Liao accepted, and a colleague was instructed to brief her on the tournament details. Cheng Liao then called Qi, Sheng Jingchu’s assistant, to get permission for the follow-up filming.
Qi, already annoyed by the persistent rumors surrounding Sheng Jingchu and Cheng Liao, complained to Sheng Jingchu, calling Cheng Liao a "fly" who had already damaged their reputation. To Qi's surprise, Sheng Jingchu simply told him that he wouldn't be needed in Suzhou.
At the airport, Qi passed on all of Sheng Jingchu's care instructions to Cheng Liao, along with a pile of clothes for ten days, including a premium suit for the competition, and a copy of "Song Xue: Tao Te Ching" which Sheng Jingchu reads before every match. He meticulously detailed Sheng Jingchu's dietary restrictions, such as no mustard, onion, garlic, or even coriander.
Qi claimed his wife was in the hospital, about to give birth, and he needed to be by her side. Cheng Liao protested, asking why she had to take over his duties when others could have been prepared. Qi bluntly stated that if she didn't agree to be Sheng Jingchu's assistant, her filming permission would be revoked.
Faced with this ultimatum, Cheng Liao, despite her frustration and feeling Qi was calculating, had no choice but to accept, silently noting that she'd do anything to secure her full-time position. On the plane, Cheng Liao tried to tell Sheng Jingchu about Qi’s antics, but he offered her candy and asked for her phone. He promptly added her on WeChat, making her promise not to block him again.
Throughout the flight, Qi bombarded Cheng Liao with messages about Sheng Jingchu's comfort, from avoiding direct air conditioning to ensuring he had a blanket and 45-degree warm water. Cheng Liao, feeling like Sheng Jingchu was being treated "beyond a national treasure," dutifully asked a flight attendant for specific temperature water. Sheng Jingchu, noticing her efforts, subtly hinted that it didn't have to be exactly 45 degrees.
While researching, Cheng Liao discovered that Sheng Jingchu had been colorblind since a car accident at age six, only seeing in black and white. This revelation filled her with sympathy for the seemingly proud and isolated "Legend." Lost in thought, she fell asleep, only to wake up mortified to find herself leaning on Sheng Jingchu’s shoulder, chastising herself for such familiarity with the "Legend."
Upon their arrival in Suzhou, Sheng Jingchu’s junior brother, Cao Xihe, greeted them, immediately calling Cheng Liao "sister-in-law." Cheng Liao was flustered, trying to explain her role as a cameraman, but Sheng Jingchu simply told her to get in the car. Cao Xihe continued to tease her about sitting in the "best seat," which, as the driver later clarified, was actually the safest spot in the car, a thoughtful gesture by Sheng Jingchu.
During the ride, Cheng Liao received a call from Xu Chi, who mentioned sending her new cakes and a "double reward," much to Cao Xihe's amusement, who then remarked to Sheng Jingchu that he seemed to have a rival. Cheng Liao clarified her full name was Cheng Zhi Liao, having been born in July. At their destination, Ding Lan, another of Sheng Jingchu's junior disciples, rushed to embrace him.
She immediately confronted Cheng Liao, accusing her of causing Sheng Jingchu to be late for a previous competition and stirring up scandals. Cheng Liao apologized for the past but asserted she was there not just to film but also as Sheng Jingchu's assistant. Ding Lan grew angrier, questioning why Sheng Jingchu, who never accepted interviews, made an exception for Cheng Liao, even suggesting Cheng Liao had toyed with his feelings.
Cheng Liao, in exasperation, told Ding Lan to focus on the paparazzi instead of her. Meanwhile, Cheng Liao had a phone conversation with Yan Xiao, her colleague. Yan Xiao revealed Ms. Liu's true intentions: to create a scandalous love story between Cheng Liao and Sheng Jingchu to boost Cheng Liao's fame and Pinecone Video’s trending topics. Cheng Liao was dismayed, confiding in Yan Xiao that she was already in love with someone else, her "big brother."
Yan Xiao then warned her that Lisa was also there. Later that evening, Lisa appeared at Sheng Jingchu’s room, having prepared a lavish Western dinner for two, hoping to seduce him. Sheng Jingchu remained cold and aloof, showing no interest. As Lisa attempted to undress, Cheng Liao arrived at the door. He promptly invited Cheng Liao to dinner, treating Lisa like a waitress. Lisa, trying to save face, claimed it was a prank she and Cheng Liao had orchestrated.
Sheng Jingchu, however, curtly dismissed her, insisting that Cheng Liao could relay any information. After Lisa left, Cheng Liao playfully remarked on how Sheng Jingchu was the first man to resist Lisa's charms, despite her expensive outfit, to which Sheng Jingchu simply stated he had only wanted Cheng Liao there. Cheng Liao tried to clarify the interview schedule, explaining that she was assigned to interview Cao Xihe, and Lisa would interview Sheng Jingchu.
The next day, however, when Cheng Liao went to the restaurant for her appointment with Cao Xihe, she found Sheng Jingchu there instead. Sheng Jingchu explained that Cao Xihe was busy and that he had changed the plan to avoid Lisa. He firmly stated that he would only accept interviews from Cheng Liao, finding her "sincere." As they walked through Suzhou for the interview, Cheng Liao learned about Sheng Jingchu’s unique relationship with his masters, Xie Han Zhou and Jiang.
Sheng Jingchu shared a story of how his master used a "trick" to secure him as a disciple before Master Jiang could. They then encountered an old man with a Go stall, offering money for solving a "life-and-death game." Sheng Jingchu, seeing Cheng Liao’s interest, decided they would play as a team. He explained the complexity of such games, which train calculating ability and awareness of Go formations, emphasizing the need for caution.
Ding Lan and Cao Xihe, secretly observing from a distance, were embarrassed by Sheng Jingchu seemingly "toying" with an old man to entertain Cheng Liao. With Sheng Jingchu's guidance, they quickly solved the game. A crowd gathered, demanding the old man pay up. Cheng Liao, wishing to avoid trouble, quickly pulled Sheng Jingchu away, outrunning the pursuing paparazzi, Yan Xiao and Lisa, as well as Ding Lan and Cao Xihe.
Cheng Liao worried about potential scandalous headlines, but Sheng Jingchu clarified that the old man was merely surprised by his skill and those shouting were simply looking for a restroom, leaving Cheng Liao comically embarrassed. Later, while enjoying grass jelly and brown sugar boba tea, Cheng Liao shared stories about her past working in a milk tea shop.
Yan Xiao and Lisa, still following, tried to snap pictures, but Cheng Liao spotted them, and she and Sheng Jingchu made another swift escape. This time, Ding Lan and Cao Xihe intercepted Yan Xiao and Lisa. Ding Lan furiously accused them of being paparazzi and threatened to call the police. Yan Xiao attempted to de-escalate the situation by flattering Ding Lan and Cao Xihe, reciting their detailed profiles.
However, when she revealed that she worked for Pinecone Video, the same company as Cheng Liao, Ding Lan and Cao Xihe became even more suspicious and angry at Cheng Liao, believing she was in on the paparazzi scheme. Back in a restaurant, a female fan approached Sheng Jingchu for an autograph. Cheng Liao offered her book, "Sheng Jing Chu's Quotes of Life," but Sheng Jingchu denied having said any of the quotes or even publishing a book.
Cheng Liao, realizing the extent of the misinformation, advised him to clarify facts to avoid being misrepresented. Taking her advice, Sheng Jingchu announced he would clarify on Weibo that Cheng Liao was not his girlfriend. After returning, Cheng Liao learned that Yan Xiao had been caught by Ding Lan and Cao Xihe, and had revealed their company's background information to Ding Lan, making Cheng Liao even more upset, especially since Ding Lan already had a negative impression of her.
Shortly after, Cheng Liao was relieved to see Sheng Jingchu's Weibo post, which clarified that Cheng Liao was merely a reporter and not his girlfriend. She decided to reply, commenting that she was an ordinary girl, unworthy of "Legend's" attention. Moments later, Sheng Jingchu replied directly to her comment, stating, "I think you're special," causing Cheng Liao's heart, which had just settled, to flutter once more.
