At Yu Shihai’s birthday banquet, Wu You confronted him about the rank-selling case. When Yu Shihai, misinterpreting Wu You's concern as being for the imprisoned Wu Yu, offered to have the Crown Prince intercede on Wu Yu's behalf, Wu You coldly refused. He declared that all wrongdoers must be punished and revealed his true intention was not a pardon, but Yu Shihai's head.

Wu You then unveiled the ten scrolls he had gifted, which contained the names of everyone involved in the rank-selling scheme. He asserted that while Yu Shihai could silence Li Zhiyuan, he could not eliminate the thousands of witnesses Li Zhiyuan had documented. In response, Yu Wenjie drew his sword, threatening Wu You with the safety of the teahouse mistress, Rong Le.

Wu You signaled Leng Yan, who, with an insider's help, quickly located the trapped Rong Le and moved her to a safe location. Unaware of this development, Yu Shihai believed he held leverage over Wu You. Seeing that Rong Le was secure, Wu You furiously stated that no one could threaten him. When Yu Wenjie persisted with his provocations, Wu You swiftly disarmed him, enraging Yu Shihai.

Just as Yu Shihai ordered the doors sealed to deal with Wu You, Wu Yu burst in with the Imperial Guard and an imperial decree. The decree stripped Yu Shihai and his son of all official positions, confiscated their property, and awarded their manor to Wu You. After the arrest, Wu Yu complained to Wu You about his seven days in jail, to which Wu You retorted that he had been resting with good food and sleep.

Wu Yu then agreed to stay at Wu You's new manor. In the imperial prison, a wounded Yu Wenjie asked his father if there was any hope. Yu Shihai rebuked him for acting rashly and antagonizing Wu You. Unrepentant, Yu Wenjie blamed his downfall on Wu You's cunning. Yu Shihai planned to offer his entire fortune to the Emperor to spare their lives, noting they also had to guard against the Crown Prince silencing them.

He revealed that he possessed detailed records of all funds sent to the Crown Prince's palace, including a backup copy, which he believed would compel the Crown Prince to secure their survival. A moment later, a guard arrived with the Crown Prince's jade pendant, instructing them to admit nothing during interrogation and to wait for rescue. The next day in court, the Emperor, furious over the rank-selling case, berated the Crown Prince for his poor judgment.

The Crown Prince adamantly denied any involvement. Minister Sun advised patience, stating the truth would surface with the Yu family's testimony. However, a eunuch then announced that Yu Shihai and his son had committed suicide in jail, much to the Crown Prince's visible relief. The Emperor confined the Crown Prince to the Eastern Palace for his misconduct.

He then commended Wu You for his success, granting his three southern states a five-year tax exemption and decreeing that they could report directly to Wu You's manor instead of the court. This move greatly increased the Crown Prince's animosity towards Wu You. Upon returning to his residence, the Crown Prince received a report from the Creed of Vengeance, confirming they had eliminated the Yu father and son as instructed.

They also presented an account book, personally written by Yu Shihai, found in a separate courtyard. The Crown Prince immediately burned the book. Now having lost a key ally, he recognized his urgent need for more powerful supporters to oppose Wu You. With the Yu manor under his control, Wu You tasked Wu Yu and Master Xin with finding the secret room built by Qin Yong.

Master Xin speculated that Qin Yong, known for his clever designs, would have placed the entrance in a conspicuous yet unexpected location. After two days of fruitless searching, an exhausted Wu Yu complained they had found only Yu Shihai's secret armory and torture chambers, openly questioning Master Xin's methods. Late that night, Rong Le and Long Yue, disguised, infiltrated the manor to search for the secret room.

They observed Wu Yu also searching for "The Book of Mountains and Rivers" without success. As Rong Le explored, she felt an overwhelming sense of familiarity. Distracted, she made a noise that alerted the guards, forcing them to flee. During the escape, a flash of memory enabled Rong Le to guide Long Yue through a hidden passage in a rockery and navigate a mechanism. Later, Long Yue asked why she didn't just ask Wu You for help.

Rong Le explained that as an amnesiac, she felt it was better to keep her distance from him if she couldn't be truly honest, to avoid causing future pain. Princess Zhao Yun, disguised as a man, visited the Moon Embrace Teahouse to confront Rong Le. Rong Le saw through her disguise immediately. Exposed, Zhao Yun demanded that Rong Le stay away from Wu You, who was engaged to a princess.

Rong Le countered that she was already trying to avoid him and suggested that if Zhao Yun spent more time with Wu You, he would no longer seek her out. To continue her search, Rong Le used the pretext of delivering new tea to visit Wu You at the Yu manor. Delighted by her visit, Wu You noticed her interest in the estate and offered a tour.

He reaffirmed his feelings, offering her the entire manor, but she declined, citing their different statuses. Wu You then questioned her motives for visiting if she wouldn't accept his affection, hinting he suspected she was the one who had saved him by sucking the poison from his wound. Startled, Rong Le composed herself, feigned anger, and attempted to leave, but Wu You stopped her.

Wu You told Rong Le that because life is ever-changing, he is determined to hold on to what is important to him, namely his feelings for her. Touched by his words, Rong Le was caught in a sudden downpour with him. While taking shelter under the eaves, she inadvertently discovered a hidden mechanism. Before Wu You could notice, she quickly reset it but lost her balance in the process.

Wu You caught her just in time, a moment of intimacy observed from afar by Wu Yu. Later, Wu You and Leng Yan discussed the intruders, suspecting they were female assassins from the Creed of Vengeance. Leng Yan confirmed the group was responsible for the recent deaths of several officials, including the Yu family, and was likely funded by the Eastern Palace.

Wu Yu proposed using this evidence to move against the Crown Prince, but Wu You stopped him, indicating he had his own strategy. Master Xin then presented a climbing hook found in the manor, identifying it as a Western Qi tool by its unique knotting method, thus confirming the intruders' origin. Meanwhile, the Emperor expressed concern over his daughter Yali's recent withdrawn behavior. Yali apologized, attributing it to her confinement. The Emperor, not blaming her, tasked her with an urgent matter in Chengxi the following day.
