A tense atmosphere pervaded the royal mansion, as reports circulated about Princess Rong Le's disappearance. It was confirmed that Ling Yue, Rong Le's maidservant, along with a person sent by Prince Zhenbei, were found murdered, but Rong Le herself was nowhere to be found. Suspecting either Prince Li Wu You or Prince Regent Fu Chou, Prince Zhenbei Ning Qianyi dispatched his men to investigate them, while he decided to pay a visit to Emperor Rong Qi.
Upon arriving at Rong Le's chambers, Ning Qianyi insisted on seeing the Emperor, despite Little Xun's attempts to bar his entry. Rong Qi emerged from his bed, allowing Ning Qianyi and his royal physician to check on him under the pretense of illness. After examining Rong Qi, the royal physician appeared deeply troubled, confessing his inability to prescribe medicine.
Ning Qianyi then left, only for the physician to reveal to him that Rong Qi was on the verge of death due to a prolonged medicinal overdose, implying his life would not last much longer. Meanwhile, a letter arrived for Wu You, seemingly from Fu Chou, instructing him to come to Qingtian Chamber for a showdown if he wished to meet Rong Le.
Separately, a report reached Fu Chou indicating Rong Le was impossibly drunk and had gone to Qingtian Chamber to confront Wu You about his abandonment. Both princes rushed to Qingtian Chamber. There, they saw a woman dressed like Rong Le, drinking. As they moved to approach and save her, the chamber walls suddenly collapsed, and the entire building exploded, knocking both Wu You and Fu Chou unconscious.
Watching from a distance, Lin Shen surveyed the chaotic scene with a satisfied smirk, before being informed that Emperor Rong Qi wished to see him. Rong Qi confronted Lin Shen, accusing him of repeatedly endangering Rong Le and questioning if he feared crossing Rong Qi's boundaries. Lin Shen stated he was simply following orders.
Rong Qi retorted that Lin Shen had already used Fu Chou to seize the throne and manipulated Rong Le to incite conflict between the two brothers, asking if that was not enough. Lin Shen coldly explained that for their master, Fu Yuan, the vendetta would remain unfinished as long as any member of the Zongzheng royal family survived. Lin Shen declared that Wu You must die by Fu Chou's hand.
Once both brothers were eliminated, Ning Qianyi's crimes would be exposed to the public, leaving only a child emperor in Chen, and the world would then belong to Rong Qi. Rong Qi sarcastically remarked that in such a scenario, he himself would likely be next to die. Lin Shen swiftly countered, asserting that their master had orchestrated all these events for Rong Qi's sake, attempting to redirect Rong Qi's hatred towards Zongzheng Yunhe.
Rong Qi scoffed, asserting he was not as easily manipulated as Fu Chou. Lin Shen then boasted that Fu Chou was incomparable to Rong Qi, musing aloud what Fu Chou's reaction would be if he knew Lady Yun was his biological mother, and Wu You his twin brother, thus stripping him of all his hatred. Unbeknownst to Lin Shen, Rong Le had been hidden behind a folding screen, listening to their entire conversation.
Wu You and Fu Chou regained consciousness amidst the ruins of Qingtian Chamber. Witnessing the devastation and finding what appeared to be Rong Le's torn clothing, the two men, heartbroken by their loss, began to fight. Fu Chou bitterly realized how foolish he had been to believe their supposed estrangement was genuine. He then challenged Wu You, daring him to fulfill his desire for vengeance by killing him.
At that moment, Rong Le suddenly appeared, intervening between them and tearfully revealing the truth: they were twin brothers, born of the same mother. Lin Shen, who had arrived, tried to interrupt, but Rong Le continued, recounting how Lin Shen and Fu Yuan had bribed the midwife years ago. While Lady Yun was unconscious after childbirth, they replaced one of her twin sons with a dead infant, raising the surviving child, Fu Chou, as a weapon for their revenge.
She exposed their plot to use him to usurp the throne, destroy his own brother, and finally, after his usefulness was exhausted, reveal the truth to him, pushing him into an abyss of grief. Fu Chou, still reeling, demanded if Rong Le's words were true. Lin Shen immediately interjected, attempting to brainwash him by contrasting Fu Yuan's son, raised in the harsh Cold Harem, with Lady Yun's son, cherished by everyone.
Wu You then corroborated Rong Le's story, recalling his mother's account of seeing dragon-shaped birthmarks on her twin sons' forearms before she lost consciousness, and realizing the dead infant beside her had no such mark. Fu Chou vehemently denied having a birthmark, but then remembered a distinct scar on his forearm, a place where a birthmark had once been, which Lin Shen had personally removed.
Lin Shen, still desperate to maintain control, cynically challenged Fu Chou, asking if he could accept that the hatred that had fueled his entire life was a lie. He pointed out the futility of his five years on the run, his decade of battles, and countless agonizing pains, suggesting that if his hatred was baseless, he had hurt his closest kin, turning his life into a complete joke.
Wu You then declared that regardless of how cruel the truth was, it was preferable to continuing to live a lie. He condemned Lin Shen and Fu Yuan as the true perpetrators, accusing them of stealing another's child, killing parents, and building happiness on others' suffering. As the truth settled upon Fu Chou, he stood frozen in shock. Suddenly, a large contingent of archers appeared, surrounding them and unleashing a barrage of arrows. Lin Shen seized the opportunity to escape.
As Fu Chou remained stunned, Wu You bravely shielded him from the arrow rain. Rong Le, distraught, pushed Fu Chou, demanding if he wished to die there. Snapping out of his stupor, Fu Chou joined Wu You in fighting back. As Rong Le began to tire, Rong Qi unexpectedly appeared, stepping forward to protect her. Together, the three of them fiercely defended Rong Le from the relentless attack. Meanwhile, Princess Zhao Yun observed Luo Yan entering Ning Qianyi's study.
She followed discreetly but found no one inside. Moments later, she saw Luo Yan emerge from a secret room, realizing that Luo Yan was actually Chen Yu. Luo Yan explained that her relationship with Ning Qianyi was not romantic. She was originally a citizen of Chen; during a past civil strife, her father was murdered for refusing to align with the powerful, and her mother died protecting her during their escape.
Ning Qianyi had saved her and sent her on a mission to Northern Lin: to kidnap Rong Le and force Wu You to hand over "The Book of Mountains and Rivers." Zhao Yun found this impossible to believe. Luo Yan continued, revealing that Ning Qianyi not only instructed her to kidnap Rong Le but also colluded with the Creed of Vengeance to kill her, aiming to turn Fu Chou and Wu You against each other.
She disclosed that the person Zhao Yun had seen in the study was Lin Shen, the leader of the Creed of Vengeance. Luo Yan explained that an alliance letter between Ning Qianyi and Lin Shen was hidden in the secret room, but she had failed to find it moments ago, and they were scheduled to act that very night. Zhao Yun adamantly maintained that Ning Qianyi was not capable of such cruelty towards Wu You and Rong Le.
Luo Yan admitted her own reluctance to believe it but stressed Ning Qianyi's recent change. She revealed that before she came there, Ning Qianyi had already deployed his Elite Guard to surround Qianlin Garden. She urged Zhao Yun that the only way to save Wu You and Rong Le was to help her find the alliance letter. While searching, Zhao Yun accidentally soiled an item of clothing on a table.
As she washed it, she astonishingly discovered the alliance letter meticulously hidden within. After a grueling battle that left Wu You, Fu Chou, Rong Le, and Rong Qi exhausted, Ning Qianyi finally emerged, observing them. He advised them to surrender to avoid further trouble. Wu You angrily declared that Ning Qianyi had finally shown his true colors.
Ning Qianyi nonchalantly retorted that he had never hidden anything, merely acting as the host to apprehend those who publicly brawled in the royal mansion and destroyed his Qingtian Chamber. Rong Le scoffed at his excuses, exposing the entire scheme: Ning Qianyi's plot with Lin Shen, starting with Ling Yue luring her to Chen, then Lin Shen's men posing as the Seven Asuras to pursue her, and Ning Qianyi "saving" her to bring her to Chen.
This was all a ploy to draw Wu You and Fu Chou into the trap, feigning mediation while actually inciting them to kill each other. She revealed that Ning Qianyi had even used a look-alike, Man Yao, to be bombed in Qingtian Chamber, making Wu You and Fu Chou believe the other was responsible for her death, thereby furthering his goal of mutual destruction.
Rong Le explained that she had been wary of Ling Yue and did not drink the hangover soup, instead overhearing Ling Yue's conversation with Ning Qianyi's subordinate. She had been secretly taken away by Rong Qi, discovered the truth about the twins, and came to stop them. Now exposed, Ning Qianyi intended to kill them all.
Rong Qi then added that he too had been drawn into Ning Qianyi's elaborate plot, an "unexpected delight" for Ning Qianyi, and now he feared for his own life. Ning Qianyi tried to justify his actions to Rong Le, claiming he needed Wu You and Fu Chou to believe she was dead, which was why he had arranged for a person dressed like her to go into Qianlin Garden.
He insisted he had put in such effort because he considered her a friend. At that moment, Luo Yan stepped forward, accusing Ning Qianyi of lying. She revealed he didn't kill Rong Le because she had lied to him, claiming Rong Le was a descendant of the Qin family and the sole keeper of "The Book of Mountains and Rivers'" secret. Ning Qianyi was shocked by Luo Yan's deception, and even more so when Zhao Yun appeared beside her.
Zhao Yun pushed Ning Qianyi away, moving towards Rong Le. Tearfully, she confessed that Wu You and Rong Le were the people she cared for the most, begging Ning Qianyi to spare them if he still cared for her and their child. Ning Qianyi was incredulous that Zhao Yun would sacrifice her own life and risk their child for two "outsiders."
Zhao Yun, however, tearfully asserted that they were not outsiders but her closest family, stating she would have died without them. Wu You and Rong Le attempted to dissuade Zhao Yun from involving herself, urging her to leave for her safety. Zhao Yun refused, naively pleading with Ning Qianyi to abandon everything and live a quiet life with her.
