Rong Le confronts Fu Chou, demanding to see Wuyou. Fu Chou retorts that Wuyou's survival depends on Rong Le staying alive, implying her continued existence serves a specific purpose for Wuyou. Rong Le then dismisses him. Before leaving, Fu Chou acknowledges Rong Le's hatred and the harm he caused, admitting he failed to protect her and didn't recognize her when a traitor swapped her.

He doesn't ask for forgiveness but vows to find the person who hurt them and make them pay dearly. After Fu Chou's departure, Xiang Ying emerges and delivers Wuyou's ink jade fan to Rong Le, explaining that Prince Li entrusted it to him.

Rong Le inquires about the current situation, and Xiang Ying reveals that Prince Chen and his soldiers have retreated south, the crown prince has been deposed, and General Fu now controls the court with the Golden Scroll and Phoenix Seal. He adds that Prince Li was severely wounded and captured by the general, who had flawlessly planned everything, resulting in Prince Li's troops falling into his hands.

Suspecting Wuyou's whereabouts, Rong Le asks Xiang Ying about heavily guarded areas in the royal palace. Xiang Ying reports increased security around the Cold Palace, leading Rong Le to deduce Wuyou is likely imprisoned in Senyan Palace, the abandoned Cold Palace where Empress Fu Yuan was once held and burned herself to death. Rong Le then instructs Xiao Sha to discreetly monitor Fu Chou's movements and inform her if he enters the palace.

She also tells Xiang Ying to find her a good sword, as she intends to start sword training to regain her strength and prevent others from manipulating or disrespecting her. That night, Fu Chou visits the imprisoned Wuyou in Senyan Palace, finding him severely injured and hung from the wall by hooks piercing his shoulder blades.

Wuyou, realizing the parallel to Consort Yun's death, deduces that Fu Yuan poisoned the Shilixiang wine sent by his teacher, and Fu Chou is now using a similar method, having used Man Yao against him. Fu Chou doesn't explain, but states he has kept Wuyou alive with a drug to prevent his death, vowing to make him suffer all the pain and suffering he and his mother endured over the years, aiming to see Wuyou bow down to him.

When Wuyou asks his identity, Fu Chou challenges him to guess, leading Wuyou to realize he is Fu Yuan's son, asking how he could still be alive and accusing him of patricide. Fu Chou explodes in rage, declaring his father had no right to be his father.

He laments the world's unfairness, recounting how he was hunted by his "so-called father" as a child, lost his identity and home, and lived in the wild, while Wuyou enjoyed a worry-free life in the magnificent palace. He also notes how Rong Le, despite being used and hurt by Wuyou, remains deeply in love with him.

Wuyou retorts that Fu Chou is as shameless as Fu Yuan, who brought her own demise upon herself by causing the Qin family's execution through her grudge. He warns Fu Chou that his life of vengeance will ultimately lead to a lonely end, even if he becomes ruler. Fu Chou dismisses this, asserting he will soon claim the supreme throne and make Rong Le his empress, leaving Wuyou chained for life.

Wuyou counters that Fu Chou misunderstands Rong Le, stating she values no titles and would rather die than be his empress. He argues that if Rong Le, despite loving Wuyou, could be resolute when feeling used, she would be even more so towards Fu Chou, whom she never loved. Fu Chou, twistedly, believes Rong Le's love for Wuyou will compel her to stay by his side.

Meanwhile, Rong Le and Xiao Sha, having infiltrated the palace with experts from the Hidden Ones, observe Wuyou's tortured state from a distance. Xiao Sha cautions Rong Le to remain hidden and act with extreme caution, as Fu Chou's vigilance could lead him to move Wuyou if their presence is discovered, making him even harder to track. Rong Le, though heartbroken, acknowledges the need for restraint.

Fu Chou then asks Wuyou if he regrets losing everything, including his life, for the woman he loves. Wuyou retorts that saving his beloved is his duty, unlike Fu Chou, whose actions driven by ignoring his feelings will lead to true regret. He questions if Fu Chou tortures him merely to vent unexpressed anger.

As Fu Chou is about to react, a guard reports a fire nearby, prompting Fu Chou to leave, noting the swift action of the Hidden Ones, whom he believes are loyal to Wuyou. Unbeknownst to them, the Emperor, seated in a wheelchair, secretly observes the entire confrontation from a hidden alcove. After Fu Chou's departure, Rong Le descends from the roof to Wuyou. Wuyou, shocked, comments on her white hair, while she reassures him his injuries are minor.

Hearing the sounds of approaching guards and firefighting efforts, Wuyou urges Rong Le to leave quickly before more guards arrive. Rong Le, expressing her emotions in a deep kiss, promises to coordinate with the Hidden Ones to rescue him. She departs just as Fu Chou returns to the chamber. Xiang Ying presents Rong Le with a fine sword, which she appreciates, affirming her earlier resolve to train.

Later, Rong Le asks Xiao Sha about Ke'er, learning she is safely at Prince Li's manor, researching a cure. Concerned about Ke'er's safety given the manor is surrounded by Fu Chou's men, Rong Le decides to go there herself. En route, Rong Le's carriage passes commoners openly gossiping about the recent conflict, attributing the mutiny to Fu Chou and Wuyou fighting over her.

They discuss her causing chaos and Fu Chou's decision to make her empress, which they believe tarnishes his image. Rong Le stops Xiao Sha from intervening. Suddenly, a distressed woman, clutching a bundle, rushes past, crying out for help for her child, claiming he is innocent. She quickly ducks into Rong Le's carriage. Another woman, pursuing her, explains the first woman's tragic past: her husband left, she lost her child, and her face is scarred.

Rong Le instructs Xiao Sha to give the pursuing woman some money, and the women eventually leave, with Rong Le still seeming to find the mad woman somewhat familiar. Upon arriving at Prince Li's manor, the guards attempt to bar their entry, citing Fu Chou's order that the traitorous Prince Li's manor is sealed.

Rong Le, from her carriage, asserts her authority as from the General's mansion and warns them to stand aside to avoid bloodshed, prompting the guards to relent. Inside, Ke'er is found researching medicinal herbs. She is shocked to see Rong Le's white hair, fearing the poison has relapsed, but Rong Le reassures her that it is not the case, explaining that much has happened.

Rong Le expresses her relief that Ke'er is well but urges her to leave, as the manor is heavily guarded. Ke'er, however, insists on staying to research the remedy her master left to cure Rong Le's poison, noting the quiet environment is conducive to her studies. While Ke'er prepares a medicine for Rong Le's recent absent-mindedness and sleeplessness, Rong Le discreetly passes her Wuyou's ink jade fan, and Xiao Sha quietly instructs Ke'er to find Master Wuxiang.

Rong Le then sternly warns the guards stationed there not to disrespect Ke'er or cause her any harm. Chang Jian reports to Fu Chou about Rong Le's visit to Prince Li's manor, confirming there was no suspicious contact between her and Ke'er, despite Fu Chou's suspicions about Rong Le's true intentions.

Chang Jian also updates Fu Chou on the missing Imperial Seal and informs him that Rong Le's hand wound has worsened due to her nightly sword training, which she refuses to stop despite her physician's advice. He also briefly mentions finding and interrogating the mad woman, whose ramblings about her son made no sense, but Fu Chou dismisses the matter. Later, Fu Chou observes Rong Le intensely training her swordplay, witnessing the ferocity of her moves.

He approaches her and bandages her split wound. Rong Le, showing no gratitude, immediately demands to know when she can see Wuyou, warning Fu Chou not to torture him if he wants her to remain in his manor. Fu Chou proposes a deal: if Rong Le stays by his side, and Wuyou leaves the nation, he promises to release Wuyou and nullify all their past grievances. Rong Le questions his sincerity, pointing out his previous house arrest.

Fu Chou counters that she is not under house arrest and, as a show of good faith, promises her full freedom of movement, though he insists she take guards for her safety. Rong Le then asks why he cannot show Wuyou leniency now that he has the throne.

Fu Chou explains that he and Wuyou can never truly coexist, arguing that Wuyou, with his capabilities, would inevitably rise again and threaten the nation, ensuring endless conflict if he remained in Northern Lin. Xiang Ying discovers that Hen Xiang's hidden room is empty, with tell-tale bloodstains on the broken chains. Meanwhile, a heavily wounded Hen Xiang is intercepted by members of The Creed, who accuse her of betraying their master by escaping during their retreat.

Hen Xiang defiantly refuses to apologize or return to being a pawn, opting for death instead. As the assassins, acknowledging her former special status under their Young Master, press her to surrender, Xiang Ying intervenes and rescues her. He offers to tend to her wounds and take her to a clinic, but Hen Xiang declines, insisting she can manage.

Xiang Ying warns her against holding any hope for General Fu, explaining that Fu Chou will hate her intensely for Rong Le's white hair, which resulted from the setup. He further suggests that Fu Chou could never truly love her because she reminds him of his painful past. Xiang Ying offers to help her go anywhere, expressing his genuine care.

Hen Xiang acknowledges his sincerity but refuses to involve him, stating that her revenge is complete and Fu Chou has achieved his goals, leaving her with no other desires. She clarifies that she isn't seeking death, but is simply exhausted from a life of constant fighting. She wishes to fulfill her deceased sister's and parents' wish for a normal, peaceful life, her hands stained with too much blood to ever return to that innocence.

Fu Chou visits Sun Yali and discovers her attempting suicide. Sun Yali, who once held deep affection for Fu Chou, now regards him with caution. She tells him that if he could be so cruel to his own wife, he would surely be cruel to her. She prefers death over being imprisoned or used as a hostage against her father. Fu Chou asks if she hates him and desires revenge.

Sun Yali replies that vengeance would be futile, as the honorable general she admired in her heart would never return. Fu Chou mocks her idealized image, revealing his past: abandoned by his father, hunted by assassins, and raised in hell, enduring countless battles and bearing numerous scars—none of which she ever saw, only the glory. He claims she never loved him, only a fantasy.

Sun Yali counters that he never revealed his true past, and she only loved the brave, humble person he chose to show her, asking if it was her fault to love that facade. She also states that she now understands why Princess Rong Le never loved him, condemning his heartless trampling of her feelings and asserting that he will never gain Rong Le's true affection.

Fu Chou dismisses her words, stating he does not need her love, as his love is reserved solely for Rong Le, adding that Rong Le will never truly love him either. He advises Sun Yali to value her life, if not for herself, then for her father, who would be devastated by her death.

Sun Yali, accepting that she might not have loved the true Fu Chou, admits her past actions were driven by a desire to get closer to him. She offers him a final piece of advice: his feelings for Rong Le might be a similar illusion, not true love, but rather a desire to best Prince Li, warning him that continuing down this path will lead to the same suffering she has experienced. Fu Chou rejects her comparison, telling her not to draw such conclusions.
