Yun Shu messaged Zhang Sinian to let him know she had to work overtime that evening, and Zhang Sinian also learned that a strong cold front was expected that night. Gao Zhiyi often ordered Lin Nuo around, yet always brought up Gu Xiao in front of him. Lin Nuo reminded Gao Zhiyi to be careful at night to avoid being taken advantage of by Gu Xiao.
Yun Shu saw Lawyer Meng reading a comic, and the two found more to talk about because of it. They chatted about a character named Lord Tang from the comic, and Yun Shu said she had a friend who was just as aloof as him. Lawyer Meng asked how Yun Shu had met this friend, and Yun Shu said it was a long story. Yun Shu explained that she and Lord Tang were just friends.
While they were chatting happily, Zhang Sinian called, and Yun Shu happened to see the call, which led her to find out that it was thanks to Zhang Sinian's help that she was able to get the assistant position. While Gao Zhiyi and Gu Xiao were on a date, Lin Nuo was still worried about her and secretly followed them. Gu Xiao kept urging Gao Zhiyi to drink one glass after another, and soon she was quite tipsy.
Gu Xiao helped her into a hotel room. Lin Nuo, watching from a distance, was convinced Gu Xiao was up to no good and was just about to knock on the door when his phone rang—it was Gu Xiao calling. When Gu Xiao opened the door, he found Lin Nuo standing outside. The atmosphere turned awkward instantly.
Lin Nuo had no idea how to explain himself, but Gu Xiao didn’t mind at all and asked Lin Nuo to stay in the hotel to take care of Gao Zhiyi. When Lin Nuo entered the hotel room, he found Gao Zhiyi completely sober. She told Lin Nuo that even if she ended up getting hurt or taken advantage of, it was her own choice and had nothing to do with him.
After work, due to the cold weather, Lawyer Meng took off his coat and draped it over Yun Shu’s shoulders. Just then, Zhang Sinian suddenly appeared, visibly jealous. The four of them ended up eating luosifen together. Yun Shu and Lawyer Meng had plenty to talk about regarding luosifen. While Yun Shu went to place their order, Lawyer Meng told her that she had only gotten the assistant job because Zhang Sinian helped her behind the scenes.
However, Yun Shu didn’t mind how the opportunity came about, and Lawyer Meng praised Zhang Sinian for having good judgment. Lawyer Meng shared his thoughts on their relationship, saying that he found Yun Shu especially charming, and commented that Zhang Sinian and Yun Shu were nothing more than roommates. On the way home, Yun Shu thanked Zhang Sinian for his help and said she would work hard to learn from Lawyer Meng and live up to Zhang Sinian’s expectations.
Unfortunately, due to the sudden weather change, Zhang Sinian caught a cold. Yun Shu specially made ginger tea for him to drink. Lu Yu turned down a drinking invitation and messaged Yun Lan, saying that he wanted to start their romantic relationship. As usual, Yun Lan replied with a single word: "Scram." Just then, Lu Yu’s assistant brought over a script for a long-form legal drama.
Lu Yu hadn’t been interested at first, but once he heard it was legal-themed, he got excited. When Zhang Sinian woke up, he saw that Yun Shu had already prepared ginger tea for him and taken the subway to work alone. This thoughtful gesture warmed his heart. Lawyer Meng scolded Lian for not managing her emotions well and for passing them on to Gao Mei.
Lian understood what Lawyer Meng was implying and decided she needed to handle the situation more calmly. Based on Gao Mei’s current demands, Lian proposed an out-of-court settlement, but Gao Mei got too emotional and accidentally burned Yun Shu’s foot. Lawyer Meng had no choice but to take Yun Shu to the hospital. At the hospital, Yun Shu comforted Gao Mei, saying she should find another way to deal with her current situation instead of letting emotions take over.
Zhang Sinian, worried after hearing that Yun Shu was hurt, rushed to the hospital. There, he and Lawyer Meng started bickering again in front of Yun Shu, creating quite a comical scene. Lu Yu was recommended to work as an assistant at Yun Lan’s law firm. Yun Lan couldn’t refuse and had no choice but to let Lu Yu follow her.
She prepared a large stack of case files, hoping to scare him off, but Lu Yu had no intention of missing any chance to be around her. Zhang Sinian was a bit jealous because of Yun Shu’s closeness with Lawyer Meng and even asked Yun Shu the name of the comic she was reading. Lu Yu wanted to drive Yun Lan home again, but was once again rejected by her.
When Yun Shu got home, Zhang Sinian carefully helped her dress her wound and suggested she avoid showering for now since the injury hadn’t healed. But Yun Shu insisted on taking a shower—after all, she couldn’t stand not bathing for five days. While showering, Yun Shu accidentally slipped and couldn’t get up. Zhang Sinian had no choice but to close his eyes, enter the bathroom, and carry her out.
