She quickly modified her design to simplify a complex part, inspired by her grandfather's "porcelain mending" technique, which leveraged defects to create innovative beauty and helped shorten the molding time. Despite the challenge, her team succeeded in creating a new wax mold and completing the metal casting phase. During a break in the competition, Yu Zhi approached Gao Jie to apologize, though he admitted he didn't know what he was apologizing for.
Gao Jie was exasperated, accusing him of portraying himself as a chivalrous gentleman while making her seem petty. She questioned his sincerity, especially since he hadn't adequately explained his relationship with Gao Hui. Before she could press him further, Yu Zhi received an urgent message from his father, Yu Guanghua, and abruptly left, promising to meet her after the competition. Later, Gao Jie attempted to raise concerns about her broken wax mold with the judges, requesting to check surveillance footage.
Judge Lin Shuyi, however, dismissed her concerns, accusing her of blaming the committee and expressing disappointment. Shortly after, Lin Shuyi fell, sustaining a torn ankle ligament. Gao Jie visited Wu Xiaoci at the hospital to inquire about Lin Shuyi, but Wu Xiaoci sent her back to prepare for the competition, falsely promising to relay her regards. Wu Xiaoci then spoke ill of Gao Jie to another person, calling her "overzealous" and "disappointing."
As the final mounting phase approached, Gao Jie faced another obstacle. Director Zhou initially refused to provide her with a crucial Pigeon Blood ruby, citing her previous "serious incident" and questioning her competence. Si Cheng intervened, cleverly leveraging Director Ju's authority to warn Director Zhou about the repercussions if Fancy failed to support their contestant, thereby forcing Director Zhou to agree to supply the ruby.
However, on the day of the final, Director Zhou made excuses, claiming his assistant made a mistake and the ruby was delayed by a traffic jam. He offered to stall for time, though he had no intention of genuinely helping. Gao Jie confided in Si Cheng, feeling like a joke after all her hard work, only to be disqualified by her own company's sabotage. Si Cheng immediately began contacting jeweler friends to secure a replacement ruby.
Yu Zhi approached Gao Jie again, offering to help find a ruby. However, Gao Jie, still wary of his intentions and believing Si Cheng was already handling it, dismissed him. Despite her refusal, Yu Zhi, determined to help, proceeded to find a ruby. Yu Yi tried to dissuade him, cautioning against creating more complications, but Yu Zhi refused to give up. After securing a ruby, Yu Zhi arranged for it to be delivered, preferring to remain discreet.
Meanwhile, Si Cheng, who was rushing to get a replacement, became stuck in traffic. With the competition nearing its deadline, Gao Jie placed her hopes on Si Cheng. Unexpectedly, the ruby arranged by Yu Zhi arrived, and Gao Jie mistakenly assumed it was from Si Cheng. However, the ruby's size was slightly off, prompting Gao Jie to quickly adapt her design again, this time deciding to use enamel craftsmanship.
This last-minute change led her team to go on strike due to the added difficulty. Soon, news spread online accusing Gao Jie of maliciously injuring Lin Shuyi, causing her to fall down the stairs. Director Zhou called Gao Jie into his office and reprimanded her for tarnishing Fancy's brand image, mocking her lack of craftsmanship. Despite Si Cheng's attempts to defend her, Director Zhou maliciously accused Gao Jie and Si Cheng of having an improper relationship before firing her.
Gao Jie chose to leave, determined to prove her innocence. Wu Xiaoci's daughter, Gao Hui, suspected her mother was behind the online rumors, baffled by her extensive efforts against Gao Jie. Unaware of Wu Xiaoci's true motives, Gao Jie naively sought her help in refuting the accusations, which Wu Xiaoci readily agreed to, much to Gao Jie's relief. Meanwhile, Yu Zhi and Yu Yi successfully secured a contract with Wu Xiaoci for Rui Hua.
Following this, Yu Zhi was appointed Deputy General Manager of the Inlay Department at Rui Hua with his grandmother's consent. Yu Zhi, eager to provoke Mu Ziyun, invited her to his and Wu Xiaoci's upcoming press conference, an invitation Mu Ziyun accepted. Yu Yi later showed Yu Zhi a video of Wu Xiaoci's interview where she subtly implied Gao Jie was indeed responsible for Lin Shuyi's injury, instead of clarifying the situation.
Yu Zhi, frustrated by Gao Jie's perceived "malice," promised Yu Yi he would no longer concern himself with her. When Gao Jie saw the interview, she trembled with anger, realizing she had been completely deceived by Wu Xiaoci. The next day, at the press conference for Rui Hua and Cilian's collaboration, Mu Ziyun observed Wu Xiaoci's confident demeanor with disdain, believing Wu Xiaoci was merely a pawn in a larger game.
Gao Jie arrived at the venue, seeking answers from Wu Xiaoci. Mu Ziyun, furious at Gao Jie's innocence, pulled her aside and revealed a shocking truth: Wu Xiaoci's current husband was Gao Jie's biological father, and Gao Hui was her half-sister. Yu Yi then announced Yu Zhi's new role, making Gao Jie realize he was part of Rui Hua and Mu Ziyun's stepson. Given the intense animosity between Yu Zhi and Mu Ziyun, Gao Jie questioned if a relationship between her and Yu Zhi could ever work.
She later asked Mu Ziyun about Yu Zhi, who described him as someone who would go to any lengths to achieve his goals, even traveling to Southeast Asia for a ruby to please Gao Hui. Gao Jie clenched her fists, her feelings for Yu Zhi now clouded with doubt. Mu Ziyun, originally wanting Gao Jie to join Rui Hua, now felt the company's internal conflicts were too complex for her to navigate.
Later that night, Gao Jie secretly watched old interviews of Wu Xiaoci and Gao Hai, finally seeing her father for the first time. He was the man she had met at her door recently. Her grandfather came in with milk, prompting Gao Jie to quickly close her laptop. She cautiously asked about her father but then denied knowing anything.
Her grandfather, understanding more than he let on, comforted her, assuring her that she had received abundant love and care despite not having a father present, and that she shouldn't trouble herself over someone unrelated to their family.
