Nice to Meet You Episode 51 Recap
> Nice to Meet You Recap
Pan Yue stood in the old house, feeling a wave of emotion wash over her. It felt as though she had been living a carefree dream, a beautiful time given to her by Gao Jie and her grandfather. Now, upon waking, she found the world unfamiliar. Gao Jie was anxious, but Pan Yue remembered their past together. Gao Jie had always cared for her like a daughter, a role Pan Yue felt she had never truly fulfilled as a mother.
She apologized to Gao Jie for not being there for her as she grew up, for not sharing her joys and sorrows. Gao Jie hugged her, assuring Pan Yue that she was and always would be her beloved mother and closest loved one. As they shared a tender moment, Gao Hai approached, expressing his apologies for the selfishness that had caused both of them so much suffering over the years.
Yu Zhi gently pulled Gao Jie aside, giving Pan Yue and Gao Hai space to talk privately, as they hadn't properly met in twenty years. Gao Hai, still profusely apologizing, asked Pan Yue how she was feeling. Pan Yue calmly told him that while her mind was once hazy, she knew he had expressed his regrets many times. She acknowledged his help during her recovery after the car accident, stating that they were now even.
Gao Hai was taken aback, never having imagined such peaceful forgiveness, expecting anger or shouts. Pan Yue explained that she had already wasted twenty years and didn't want to spend her future days consumed by hatred. She also mentioned that Gao Hai was, after all, Gao Jie’s father, and she didn't want to place her daughter in a difficult position because of their relationship.
Gao Hai remorsefully confessed that in his pursuit of potential and talent abroad, he had lost himself, forgetting his responsibilities as a husband and father. He now realized that money could never compensate for the pain he caused them. Pan Yue acknowledged his words, noting she would have been elated to hear them years ago, but now she only wished to live in the present and not dwell on the past.
Gao Hai then offered to take her to training courses to reignite her passion for drawing and design, but Pan Yue firmly stated that her desire not to dwell on the past included cutting ties with people from her past. She told him that their debts were settled, and they could forget each other. She then declared that the true debt was owed by Wu Xiaoci, and it was time for her to return what she had stolen.
Pan Yue, now with Gao Jie and Yu Zhi, expressed her joy at seeing them finally together. Yu Zhi promised to take good care of Gao Jie, and Pan Yue, calling Yu Zhi trustworthy, entrusted her precious daughter to him. Pan Yue, reflecting on her own life, said that despite its failures, she was proud to have such an amazing daughter. She believed in Gao Jie’s talent and resilience, confident she would achieve great things.
She then asked about Gao Hui, to which Gao Jie replied that Gao Hui was a strong competitor with many awards. Pan Yue encouraged Gao Jie, reminding her that truly outstanding designers express feelings and life through their art, and she believed Gao Jie's pieces would definitely surpass Gao Hui's. Later, as Pan Yue was heading out to buy a gift for Gao Jie, she ran into Gao Hai, who offered her favorite butterfly crackers.
Pan Yue refused the gesture and his company, but he insisted on accompanying her, arguing that she was unfamiliar with the modern world of smartphones and mobile payments. After dinner, Pan Yue presented Gao Jie and Yu Zhi with a pink crystal, a wedding gift symbolizing love. Gao Jie blushed, pointing out they hadn't even registered their marriage yet. Yu Zhi playfully accepted the gift, joking about relying on the mother-in-law for a good wife.
Pan Yue revealed that the crystal's weight, 3. 1 grams, was symbolic of Gao Jie’s birth weight. She confessed that she likely couldn't be a designer anymore and hoped Gao Jie could fulfill her unfulfilled dreams. When Gao Jie tried to reassure her, Pan Yue admitted she had already tried to draw, but her mind was blank when she picked up a pencil.
Thinking of the past brought her pain, but she promised to forget it all, because now she had Gao Jie, who was her greatest pride. Gao Jie, in turn, vowed to restore her mother's lost honor. Gao Jie told Yu Zhi her desire to enter the St. Laurent competition to face Gao Hui and fulfill her mother’s dream, but she lacked a registration form.
Yu Zhi reminded her about the joint piece she created with Si Cheng, which could serve as an entry. Gao Jie confirmed she had already asked Si Cheng, but he needed a convincing reason. Yu Zhi understood Si Cheng's position as a businessman and the boss of Shui Ziyao, who couldn't simply hand over an opportunity to an employee of another company.
Gao Jie affirmed she wouldn't return to Shui Ziyao, and she didn't want to cause misunderstandings with Si Cheng due to his feelings for her. Yu Zhi then prompted her to consider what the competition meant to her personally, beyond her mother's dreams. Gao Jie revealed her deeper motivation: to seize another opportunity to test her limits, prove herself, and use her design ideas to change the world's perception of jewelry.
Yu Zhi found her aspirations respectable and encouraged her, satisfied that she was clear about her path. Meanwhile, Gao Hui faced a setback. All her interviews were canceled. Chairwoman Ju explained that the public confrontation involving Gao Hui, Wu Xiaoci, Gao Jie, and Pan Yue at the committee entrance had been filmed and gone viral. Pan Yue’s articulate arguments made it seem as though a conspiracy had been exposed.
Chairwoman Ju further revealed that the organizing committee had received Pan Yue’s appeal materials, and if the plagiarism allegations were verified, Wu Xiaoci’s award would likely be withdrawn, damaging Fancy Rui Hua’s reputation. Gao Hui dismissed it as a family matter and asserted her talent was proven by the sales of her flower series, insisting she was the only one capable of winning the competition for the company.
Chairwoman Ju then mentioned Gao Jie’s widely acclaimed joint exhibition piece with Si Cheng, indicating Gao Jie also qualified for the St. Laurent competition. When Chairwoman Ju questioned what would happen if Gao Hui lost, hinting at the possibility of inviting Gao Jie to represent Fancy, Gao Hui, in a desperate bid, promised to win. She declared that if she lost, she would voluntarily withdraw from the jewelry design world.
Chairwoman Ju, with a smile, handed Gao Hui the registration form, wishing her victory and stressing the fairness of the St. Laurent competition. Later, Gao Hui sketched a design. Yu Yi, after trying to calm her competitive fervor, assured her that he would support her unconditionally, as she was his life partner, unlike Gao Jie, who was merely a colleague. He said he would be proud if she won.
Gao Hui then subtly asked if he would forgive her if her actions affected his career. Yu Yi, sensing something amiss, asked if she would actually do such a thing. He then tried to lighten the mood by reminding her that their anniversary was in a few days and he had a "huge surprise" prepared, guaranteed to please her. Gao Hui chuckled at him for spoiling the surprise. Unbeknownst to Gao Hui, Yu Yi was already deeply suspicious.
He had called Yu Zhi earlier for an update on the investigation into the online price spike incident. Yu Zhi informed him that a technician had discovered the problem wasn't a website error, but rather a trojan virus implanted in Yu Yi's laptop that remotely altered the prices. The technician also noted signs of infection and asked if anyone else had accessed his computer.
This instantly made Yu Yi recall Gao Hui knowing his password and the suspicious timing of their sales being disrupted while her products sold exceptionally well. At dinner, Yu Yi subtly probed Gao Hui, complimenting her thoughtfulness and jokingly claiming his laptop background was her photo. Gao Hui, playing innocent, denied having seen his laptop, trying to deflect. Yu Yi pressed further, accusing her of tampering with his laptop and claiming he had found the "hacker."
Cornered, Gao Hui finally admitted to planting the trojan, apologizing and claiming she wouldn't have hurt him if she had any other choice. She rationalized her actions by blaming Chairwoman Ju and Gao Jie for pressuring her. Yu Yi was heartbroken, realizing he had been the one blinded by emotion. He declared that he could no longer continue their relationship. Gao Hui, realizing Yu Yi had set a trap, questioned if he had ever truly believed her.
Yu Yi maintained that he always had, but Gao Hui, unwilling to accept responsibility, then began to complain that Gao Jie made mistakes yet Yu Zhi still believed in her unconditionally. Exasperated, Yu Yi, recognizing that they were too similar and incapable of fully committing to each other, turned and walked away. Later, a distraught Gao Hui wandered alone through a supermarket.
As she passed a cake counter and saw a young couple, memories of her time with Yu Yi flooded her mind. Unbeknownst to her, Yu Yi, after she had left, instructed an employee to put away a beautiful rose cake. It was the surprise he had painstakingly prepared for her, practicing many times to perfect it. Yu Zhi approached Yu Yi, trying to talk about work, but Yu Yi was distracted, gazing at a photo of himself and Gao Hui. He then confessed the truth about the price tampering. Yu Zhi, unsurprised, simply advised him to let it go and move on.
