Gao Jie, feeling she could not stay indefinitely, told Yu Zhi she planned to rent her own place with her savings. Yu Zhi strongly objected, again citing safety concerns and his fear of losing her again.
He proposed she treat him as her landlord and, as payment for rent, asked her to draw a "tree of life" on his phone case, playfully wishing for the whole tree, not just a single leaf. Gao Jie agreed to his terms. Meanwhile, Mu Ziyun called Gao Jie, expressing concern about her well-being and Wu Xiaoci's actions. Gao Jie assured her she was fine and staying with a friend, wanting to handle things independently.
Mu Ziyun offered assistance, but Gao Jie politely declined. Gao Jie then privately contemplated how to tell Mu Ziyun about her living arrangements with Yu Zhi. Later, Yu Zhi had a custom-ordered work table delivered for Gao Jie, which touched her deeply. Elsewhere, Wu Xiaoci looked at a magazine article about her "blissful life" as a design queen, sarcastically calling it "an absolute joke."
