Nice to Meet You Episode 12 Recap
> Nice to Meet You Recap
The doctor informed Gao Jie that her Grandpa’s condition was worsening. She rushed in, but medical staff restricted visits, explaining that he was still in danger. Meanwhile, Pan Yue, unaware of the gravity of the situation, asked for her Daddy, thinking he was playing hide-and-seek. Gao Jie, tearfully, tried to explain that Grandpa was very ill. Mu Ziyun was also present at the hospital.
The doctor eventually delivered the devastating news that despite their best efforts, Grandpa didn't have much time left and advised them to prepare for the worst. Gao Jie broke down in tears, while Pan Yue innocently talked to her grandfather, asking him to wake up and see her doll, and begging him not to leave her and her mother alone.
Grandpa, in his final moments, entrusted Gao Jie and Pan Yue to Yu Zhi, expressing regret that he could no longer protect them, before passing away. Gao Jie cried out in anguish. Pan Yue, still believing he was just a sleepyhead, gently urged him to wake up. Later, a visibly drunk Gao Hai poured out a drink on the floor, remarking that he didn't feel reassured. He confronted Wu Xiaoci, accusing her of his former father-in-law's death.
He declared that Wu Xiaoci had caused him to have a heart attack by forcing him and his family out of the house. Wu Xiaoci retorted that she had legitimately claimed the house and wouldn't have gone to such lengths if Gao Hai hadn't visited them so frequently. Enraged, Gao Hai called her a malicious woman, warning her about karma and reminding her that the deceased had once been her teacher.
Wu Xiaoci, unrepentant, warned Gao Hai not to reveal anything to Gao Hui, who was returning home soon. Soon after, Gao Hui returned and confronted her mother, Wu Xiaoci, demanding to know what the recent "mess" was about. She had noticed Wu Xiaoci's unusual attention toward Gao Jie at a competition and found it strange. Gao Hui pressed for details about her father, Wu Xiaoci, and Gao Jie, having already learned that her father had been married once before.
Wu Xiaoci finally admitted that Gao Jie was Gao Hai's daughter, her half-sister. Gao Hui then questioned what Gao Jie had done to cause a fight between her parents. Wu Xiaoci explained that she had purchased the house as an investment, unaware that Gao Jie's family lived there. Gao Hui skeptically asked if she truly didn't know beforehand, to which Wu Xiaoci confessed her discomfort with Gao Hai's frequent visits to Gao Jie's family.
Gao Hui assured her mother of her unwavering support and promised to handle her father, urging Wu Xiaoci to calm down and stop fighting with him. At the old house, Pan Yue, clutching her doll, still thought her Grandpa was playing hide-and-seek. Gao Jie tried to explain that Grandpa had passed away and they wouldn't see him anymore, but Pan Yue couldn't comprehend.
Yu Zhi arrived and gently told Pan Yue that Grandpa had gone to visit Grandma, which seemed to comfort her slightly, and she soon happily went out for some food. Gao Jie, overwhelmed with grief, collapsed into Yu Zhi’s arms, her phone screen, displaying a photo of their family of three, shattering in the process. Yu Zhi confessed that he understood her pain, having also watched his own mother pass away.
Gao Jie resolved that she must now shoulder the responsibility for her family and intended to quickly find an apartment. However, Yu Zhi insisted on handling the rental arrangements himself, reaffirming his promise to Grandpa to take care of Gao Jie and Pan Yue, assuring Gao Jie it was not a burden. Later, Si Cheng visited the old house, having heard about Grandpa's passing and wanting to offer help.
Gao Jie introduced Si Cheng, her former superior from Fancy, to Yu Zhi, while Yu Zhi introduced himself as Gao Jie's friend. When Si Cheng discreetly tried to leave some money for Gao Jie, she firmly refused, explaining that her grandpa never liked owing anyone anything. Yu Zhi supported her decision, reminding Si Cheng to respect Gao Jie’s strong character and to offer friendship and trust instead of financial aid.
Si Cheng, acknowledging their words, agreed but offered his continued support should she ever face difficulties. Upon returning home, Yu Zhi found Yu Yi waiting. Yu Yi chastised Yu Zhi for being so preoccupied with Gao Jie that he had neglected his work, missing a crucial email about a supplier's price increase for three days. Yu Yi emphasized that this delay had significant consequences for Rui Hua's costs and competitive advantage.
Yu Yi reminded Yu Zhi of his original intentions at Rui Hua, particularly how he had tried to win Wu Xiaoci over as his bargaining chip against Mu Ziyun, cautioning him not to forget his main focus. Yu Yi expressed concern that Yu Zhi was devoting too much time to Gao Jie, who could not help him with his goals, and reiterated that Gao Jie's presence would destabilize Yu Zhi and Gao Hui's working relationship.
Yu Zhi immediately promised to handle the supplier issue. He then proposed a condition: if he resolved the crisis, Yu Yi should allow Gao Jie to join their Inlay Group. Yu Yi flatly refused, stating that Gao Jie's involvement would affect Yu Zhi's objectivity and their cooperation with Gao Hui, making her an unacceptable unstable factor. Meanwhile, Yu Zhi and Mu Ziyun encountered each other on their way to meet the supplier.
Mu Ziyun feigned indifference, suggesting the situation was already settled, and challenged Yu Zhi, asserting that if he couldn't handle the supplier, he would tarnish Rui Hua's reputation. Yu Zhi, however, remained confident he could resolve it. Gao Jie, still reeling from her grief, began tidying Grandpa's small repair shop, the tools triggering more painful memories. Gao Hai approached, attempting to comfort her and apologize for the past, expressing a desire to make amends for Pan Yue and Gao Jie.
Gao Jie, however, was furious. She challenged him, asking under what identity he intended to make amends, reminding him that he had abandoned them when she was little, preparing her to see him as a stranger. She vehemently declared that Wu Xiaoci, who had caused her Grandpa's heart attack, was his true family, not her.
Gao Jie revealed that she had grown up believing her father was an honorable man who had passed away, only for him to reappear and shatter their lives. She rejected his "making up" as mere money, which could never bring her Grandpa back, and ordered him to leave and never bother her or her mother again. Gao Hai offered the house to them, but Gao Jie remained distraught and slumped in a chair after he left.
Yu Zhi successfully negotiated with the supplier, exposing their opportunism and reminding them that the Yu family, not the Mu family, would ultimately own Rui Hua, causing the supplier to back down and agree to lower prices and long-term cooperation. Mu Ziyun later approached Gao Jie, hoping she would consider joining Rui Hua's plain gold design team.
She argued that no other company would hire Gao Jie given her current circumstances, and expressed her need for a trustworthy person on her side. Mu Ziyun highlighted Gao Jie's innate design talent, comparing it to Pan Yue's, and vowed not to let it be buried. She then presented Pan Yue's old design drafts, revealing that Pan Yue’s work was far more inspired than Wu Xiaoci’s, whose acclaimed winning piece was a direct copy of Pan Yue's design.
Mu Ziyun explained that Wu Xiaoci had not only stolen Gao Hai from Pan Yue but also plagiarized her design, building her reputation on Pan Yue’s talent. She recounted a past incident where she found Pan Yue confronting Wu Xiaoci about the plagiarism, only for Gao Hai to side with Wu Xiaoci. Pan Yue’s subsequent chase after them ended in a car accident, leaving her in her current condition.
Gao Jie was overcome with anger, realizing that Wu Xiaoci was responsible for these tragedies, and vowed to seek justice for her Grandpa and mother. Mu Ziyun cautioned her against immediate revenge, stating that Grandpa never desired it, but Gao Jie, now knowing the truth, refused to let Wu Xiaoci continue to profit from her mother’s stolen glory. While Yu Zhi was with Gao Hui at a bar, Gao Jie called him.
Yu Zhi stepped aside to answer, but Gao Hui playfully snatched his phone, insisting he focus on her. Gao Jie, hearing this, felt helpless. To escape Gao Hui, Yu Zhi feigned drunkenness, prompting Gao Hui to take him home. He then pretended to throw up in the bathroom, scaring Gao Hui away. Yu Zhi immediately called Gao Jie back, but she coldly bid him "good night" and hung up.
The following day, Wu Xiaoci arrived at Gao Jie's old house with a triumphant air to pay respects to Grandpa. Gao Jie informed her that she would vacate the house as soon as possible, but Wu Xiaoci imperiously warned her to stay away from Gao Hai before sending movers to clear out the belongings. Gao Jie stood silently, clutching her Grandpa's urn and portrait, watching her home being dismantled.
Later, Yu Yi arranged a dinner to welcome Yu Zhi and Gao Hui, but Yu Zhi excused himself early, claiming he had drunk too much the previous night. He rushed to Gao Jie's old neighborhood, finding a pile of belongings outside the now-empty house. Unable to find Gao Jie, he called Chen Pinzhen, who also didn't know her whereabouts.
Yu Zhi searched the nursing home and contacted Si Cheng, but still found no trace of her until he located her on the rooftop of her old home, their special spot. There, he found a despondent Gao Jie, telling him she had lost her home and only had him left. Yu Zhi took her back to his own house. Gao Jie, uneasy about imposing, suggested she find a hotel, but Yu Zhi insisted she stay in his room, teasing her playfully.
