My Sunshine Episode 32 (Ending) Recap
> My Sunshine Recap
Zhao Mosheng mused that if she could truly turn back time, she would choose to return to being nineteen years old, to the very beginning of her relationship with He Yichen. She cherished the sweet memories of their early days, believing that if she had not gone abroad, Yichen would not have developed a stomach ailment. Yichen, in turn, questioned if she was capable of taking care of herself.
Zhao Mosheng admitted she probably wasn't, but insisted that Yichen would have to take care of her, and in doing so, he would inherently take care of himself. He Yichen also indulged in the fantasy of what their lives would have been like if Zhao Mosheng had stayed. He imagined that in his senior year, he would have rented an apartment close to his law firm, and Zhao Mosheng would undoubtedly have moved in with him.
Zhao Mosheng playfully disagreed, claiming she wouldn't have lived with him. However, Yichen asserted that most of her senior year classes were in the afternoon, making it more convenient to live together. Zhao Mosheng was surprised by his knowledge, realizing he must have checked her class schedule. This thought brought a pang of sadness as she recalled her own reality during that time, struggling with English while working in a restaurant in America.
Yichen then remarked that he was quite impressed he lasted until her graduation under those hypothetical circumstances. Their imaginative conversation continued, moving past graduation. Zhao Mosheng wondered if she would have found a job. Yichen candidly told her she wouldn't, prompting her to ask what she would do then. He suggested she would spend her time decorating their home. Zhao Mosheng expressed surprise, asking if he could afford a house so quickly.
Yichen explained that he had won a significant case right after graduation, earning enough in lawyer's fees for a down payment, humorously adding that it was stressful to support her. Zhao Mosheng then brought up a practical matter, asking when they would have a baby, jokingly threatening to blame him if Xiao Xiao ever questioned their lack of children. Yichen warned her about the implications of such a "problem."
As their conversation wound down, Zhao Mosheng drifted to sleep in his arms. He Yichen gently stroked her head and quietly confessed that he didn't want to relive their past again, recalling the pain of their separation and her revelation of being married. Meanwhile, Lu Yuanfeng hurried to the magazine office to request leave, explaining he needed to accompany his wife, Xiao Xiao, for her prenatal check-up.
It was revealed that Xiao Xiao and Lu Yuanfeng were already married, had a son named Little Pudding, and were expecting their second child. He Yichen and Zhao Mosheng visited Xiao Xiao, where they affectionately played with Little Pudding. Xiao Xiao discreetly asked Zhao Mosheng why, after two years of marriage, they hadn't started a family. She wondered if it was due to Yichen's family circumstances, especially since he seemed fond of children.
Later, as they left Xiao Xiao's home, Zhao Mosheng directly asked Yichen if he disliked children or if his reluctance to have them stemmed from issues related to his parents. He Yichen dismissed both notions, explaining that he felt they had only just begun their journey together, and a child would simply be an inconvenience at that stage. However, seeing Zhao Mosheng's strong desire, he agreed they could let nature take its course.
Soon after, Zhao Mosheng was seen studying a book on infant nutrition, playfully suggesting it was too early. Yichen retorted that they might need it sooner than she thought. A week later, Zhao Mosheng awoke one morning to find He Yichen standing strangely in the living room, muttering to himself. He revealed that she was "one week late" for her period and rushed out of the house.
Zhao Mosheng assumed he was getting breakfast and asked for some xiaolongbao and millet congee. To her surprise, he returned not only with breakfast but also a pregnancy test. Upon seeing the two red lines indicating a positive result, Zhao Mosheng exclaimed her amazement at their efficiency. He Yichen immediately called his law firm to request time off, explaining to his colleague, Old Yuan, that Zhao Mosheng was pregnant.
He also contacted the hospital and called Xiao Xiao, asking her to pack up all the parenting books she had used during her previous pregnancy. Zhao Mosheng expressed her profound joy, feeling that while marrying He Yichen had already made her life complete, this news made it even more so. During Zhao Mosheng's pregnancy, He Yichen's mother and Yimei attentively cared for her. They were all delighted to hear from the doctor that the baby was healthy and developing well.
After ten months, Zhao Mosheng successfully gave birth. Xiao Xiao and Yimei eagerly asked about the baby's name. He Yichen announced that, given the beautiful sunshine that day, he would name their son He Zhao, with "Zhao" meaning "sun shining." While some initially found the name a bit casual, Yimei quickly realized that "Zhao" subtly incorporated Zhao Mosheng's surname. Zhao Mosheng, however, understood the deeper meaning: He Yichen truly saw their son as his "little sun."
Three years later, Zhao Mosheng and He Yichen brought their son, He Zhao, back to their alma mater. They told him that this was where his parents had studied and that he too should aspire to attend this university one day. Little He Zhao, however, had a unique query. He innocently asked his mother if he had been "taken from a photo," unlike other children who were "born."
He wondered why everyone always said, "Let's take a 'He Zhao'" (a homophone for "group photo" in Chinese). He Yichen amusingly replied that indeed, he was "taken from a photo," implying his existence stemmed from his mother's initial photograph of his father.
