My Poseidon Episode 9 Recap
> My Poseidon Recap
Ye Hai slowly regained consciousness, blinking his eyes. He reprimanded An Fei for almost killing him with her actions. An Fei, both anxious and frightened, began to cry. Ye Hai, worried that Poseidon could reappear at any moment, warned An Fei that she was in danger and urged her to return home and seek help from Duan Xiche.
An Fei, however, wanted them to go back together, mentioning that Poseidon had been making her follow him and had spoken of a "memory stone." Before their conversation could progress, Poseidon reasserted control over Ye Hai's body. Poseidon dismissed An Fei's concerns about any scientific devices, stating his only desire was for her to remain with him. He declared their "talking time is over" and commanded her to "go to bed." Distraught, An Fei silently vowed to rescue Ye Hai.
Meanwhile, Lin Huayin rushed to Liu Lan's lab, demanding that An Fei be called back. She expressed her frustration that An Fei was with Ye Hai, implying it was detrimental to Liu Lan and Mo Liang's relationship. Liu Lan calmly explained that An Fei had been sent by them to deal with equipment issues and described An Fei as Mo Liang's clever younger sister, stating that they generally avoided interfering in personal matters.
Lin Huayin scoffed, accusing An Fei of exploiting Mo Liang's dedication to scientific research to have Ye Hai impound the equipment, thereby disrupting the lab. Mo Liang, overhearing the accusations, stepped in to defend An Fei, clarifying that he was the one who had instructed An Fei to retrieve the device, not the other way around. Lin Huayin, undeterred, reasserted her authority over the Poseidon project, emphasizing that its progress and direction depended on her.
She warned against hasty actions, especially with upcoming water measurements, and expressed a desire for personnel changes to ensure self-management within the project. Liu Lan suggested Lin Huayin wait for President Ye's return to address the matter directly with him, reiterating that An Fei was merely handling equipment problems, but Lin Huayin remained unconvinced and left in anger.
Back at the hotel, An Fei desperately tried various methods to bring Ye Hai back, including splashing water on Poseidon and placing a talisman on his forehead, but none of her attempts had any effect. Poseidon merely dismissed her efforts as a waste of time. He then took An Fei out to sea, telling her he had urgent business.
He explained that Hephaestus, the Fire God, forged his trident and emerald for him, and claimed that Amphitrite "grew up in this sea." An Fei retorted that she only knew Zhu Rong, the Chinese Fire God, and explicitly stated she was born and raised in China, implying she was not Amphitrite. Frustrated, An Fei threatened to swim back if Poseidon didn't let her off the boat, telling him to go away.
Poseidon ignored her complaints and led her to a private conservation institute in Santorini. Inside, An Fei saw a statue of Poseidon and, inexplicably, began to cry, coinciding with a sudden downpour outside. In this moment, Ye Hai briefly regained control of his body, albeit in a weakened state. He managed to hand his phone to An Fei, urging her to call Duan Xiche for help to return home, and promised to find a way to control Poseidon.
An Fei tried to make the call, but Poseidon quickly reasserted his presence, threatening to have Duan Xiche destroy all their equipment if An Fei took another step. At the institute, a staff member informed them that the emerald (Green Mother Stone) would not be exhibited until the following week. An Fei, introducing Poseidon as a professor of ancient myths, requested special permission to view it as they were leaving that day.
The curator, intrigued by Poseidon's passionate retelling of his love story with Amphitrite, granted their request. Poseidon recounted how Amphitrite stole his emerald and trident, fled, but he found her and, instead of punishing her, gave her gifts and proposed. He then explained that the emerald was a "memory stone" containing all of Amphitrite's thoughts. The curator was captivated by the romantic tale, but An Fei remained skeptical.
When asked if she believed the stone held Amphitrite's memories, An Fei initially declined to touch it, deeming it too valuable. Poseidon, frustrated, threatened that she would never see Ye Hai again if she didn't comply. An Fei reluctantly touched the stone but recalled nothing significant of Amphitrite. Instead, she mentioned a joke she played on Ye Hai, making him believe she saw a language on a black leaf rock, much to Poseidon's annoyance.
The curator found their dynamic "very interesting." An Fei continued to scold Poseidon, telling him that even if he forced the emerald into her head, she wouldn't remember anything of Amphitrite. She criticized his history of philandering, mentioning his entanglements with Athena and Medusa, and argued that no one, especially Amphitrite, would want to return to him given his brutal, selfish, and old-fashioned nature. Poseidon, enraged by her words, shoved An Fei away.
As An Fei cried, wishing for Ye Hai to return, he miraculously reappeared in his body. Ye Hai embraced An Fei, asking her, "Be honest, do you like me?" The next morning, An Fei woke up screaming, finding herself in the same bed as Ye Hai. Ye Hai, unfazed, teased her about crying for warmth the previous night and claimed to have a video recording of her sleep-talking. Embarrassed, An Fei dismissed him to brush her teeth.
While An Fei later researched Poseidon's myths, musing about his extensive "love history," Ye Hai attempted to contact Lin Huayin about the high-frequency sonar. After calling several of her assistants, Lin Huayin finally answered, initially mocking Ye Hai. Ye Hai, serious, stated his strong opposition to the high-frequency sonar resolution and demanded she halt it.
Lin Huayin claimed she could not, as it was a senior management decision, and retorted that Ye Hai was the one who had caused the experiment to stall. She then made it personal, questioning why she should assist him when they had no personal connection. Unable to persuade her, Ye Hai conceded, and Lin Huayin hung up, accusing him of merely "playing abroad."
Following his conversation with Lin Huayin, Ye Hai called Duan Xiche, who explained that Lin Huayin's anger stemmed from seeing Poseidon and An Fei sharing a room. To de-escalate the situation, Ye Hai agreed to return the impounded equipment to Mo Liang. An Fei then used Ye Hai's phone to call Mo Liang, informing him that the device could now be transferred back.
Mo Liang, having resolved the lab issues, declined his colleagues' dinner invitation to spend time with Liu Lan. He arrived at Liu Lan's home, where she greeted him warmly in her casual attire. Mo Liang complimented her home and presented her with a gift. Liu Lan revealed she had cherished a previous gift from him, despite its broken state, recalling a monkey story he once told her. Mo Liang remembered An Fei teasing them about the gift.
As they prepared to eat, the power suddenly went out. Mo Liang offered to fix it, and as he searched for a toolbox in a cupboard, he inadvertently discovered a detailed map of an ocean area with multiple red-marked zones on Liu Lan's computer screen, sparking his suspicion. Liu Lan then appeared, as Mo Liang informed her that the power outage was due to a collapsed disconnector, and she reassured him that it was now okay.
Separately, Ye Hai took An Fei to his parents' tomb in Greece, explaining that they died in a marine accident thirteen years ago. He recounted his own miraculous recovery from the trauma and vowed to investigate the truth and avenge them. Standing before their graves, Ye Hai playfully introduced An Fei as his future daughter-in-law, a claim An Fei shyly denied. An Fei observed that Ye Hai's confidence was similar to Poseidon's. She admitted that while she didn't like Poseidon, she couldn't deny that they shared a strong "desire to conquer," expressing concern about Poseidon's unpredictable future actions.
