Dr. C sternly questioned Jiang Zhi about his potential involvement in the death of Ye Feng's wife and child, a question he had long wanted to ask. He stressed that the chip in Ye Hai's head needed to be removed for Ye Hai to return to normal. Jiang Zhi's emotions immediately became agitated, almost to the point of convulsion. Ye Hai met with Ming and Duan Xiche.
Ming jokingly scolded Ye Hai for being too busy with An Fei, then Ye Hai playfully retorted that both Ming and Duan Xiche failed to report their relationships to the organization. Ming defended An Fei, stating her case only needed his acceptance, then playfully warned Ye Hai that she was no longer afraid of him and would "deal with" Ming herself. Duan Xiche intervened, urging them to stop.
Ming then agreed to forgive them for An Fei's sake and urged them to get to the point. Duan Xiche and Ming revealed to Ye Hai that a few years ago, Mu Sen Group invested in one of Liu Lan’s experiments. The experiment failed, and Liu Lan withdrew for three years before being reintroduced by Mu Sen to participate in the Poseidon experiment.
Ye Hai furrowed his brows, noting that Dong Zi Long’s injuries indicated damage from Liu Lan’s experiment, yet reports showed everything was normal, suggesting hidden secrets. Ye Hai theorized that after Jiang Zhi discovered hydrogen, he didn't contact his grandfather or Dr. C, indicating they had opposed his past experiments. Jiang Zhi was now likely using Mu Sen's power to complete his old experiment and take over the Poseidon project.
Ming and Duan Xiche discussed the intricacies of Jiang Zhi's plan, with Ming initially confused but then realizing that Jiang Zhi intended to overthrow Mu Sen and that he might have feelings for Liu Lan. Ming then questioned Ye Hai's decision to appoint An Fei to be in charge of the energy program, offering to relay a message, but Ye Hai insisted he would speak with An Fei himself, not wanting to ruin their chances to stay together.
An Fei brought Mo Liang the latest project update, noting its complexity and asking if his team could handle it quickly. Mo Liang said he would check it carefully. After An Fei left, Mo Liang received a call from his doctor, reminding him about a follow-up checkup. Despite his busy schedule, Mo Liang promised to cooperate with his treatment. He then encouraged his team, including Da Fei, to complete their tasks, with Da Fei volunteering to work overtime.
Seeing how hard everyone was working, An Fei thoughtfully prepared goji berry water for them. A colleague commented that they could submit the project on Monday and that he had reported to Dr. Mo, adding that he had waited a long time for this day. Mo Liang eventually went to the hospital for his checkup, where he unexpectedly encountered Jiang Zhi.
Jiang Zhi mockingly expressed concern for Mo Liang's health, advising him to take care lest he end up in a "disabled body." Mo Liang retorted, suggesting Jiang Zhi relinquish his obsession and stop interfering with the Poseidon experiment, especially since the experiment was progressing smoothly. Jiang Zhi maintained he was well and was only helping, but Mo Liang countered, questioning what help he could possibly offer, hinting at Jiang Zhi's inability to complete the experiment.
He urged Jiang Zhi to take care, so he wouldn't end up like him. Jiang Zhi then spoke about people betting their lives on ambitions, to which Mo Liang questioned the value of such sacrifice. Mo Liang then clarified that he had returned, and so had Liu Lan, revealing he knew Liu Lan was being used by Jiang Zhi.
He declared that he would not let Jiang Zhi’s plan succeed and would even "let go" of Liu Lan to free her from being taken advantage of. An Fei and Ming went shopping. Ming initially complained about being asked out, joking about her responsibilities to the nation and how she, a "poor girl," should refuse to buy anything.
An Fei showed Ming a product sample, which Ming found "too feminine" and advised An Fei to focus on Duan Xiche instead of her. An Fei noticed a "Memory Ship in the Bottle" necklace, which she found different, implying she was considering it for Ye Hai. A salesperson informed them it was their main holiday product, with only two made and only one left in the shop.
Ming, realizing An Fei liked it, told her not to ask the price, but An Fei asked anyway, causing Ming to jokingly lament about An Fei's spending. An Fei ultimately decided to buy the necklace as a Valentine's Day gift for Ye Hai. Liu Lan, seeing Mo Liang unwell and taking medicine, entered his office without knocking to express her concern, asking about his health which he had not shared.
Mo Liang, irritated, coldly pushed her away, questioning if she wanted Lin Hua Yin to replace him. Liu Lan insisted she was only worried and wanted to help him. Mo Liang sternly reminded her that he had told her multiple times he didn't need her help and accused her of not keeping her promises.
Liu Lan explained that after learning about his illness, she changed her mind and wanted to help him complete the experiment, even inviting Jiang Zhi to join because they were running out of time. Mo Liang became furious, realizing Liu Lan was working for Jiang Zhi and Mu Sen because of him. He firmly told her he never needed such sacrifice and would rather the experiment fail than see her endure such a situation.
Ye Hai gifted An Fei a beautiful necklace, helping her wear it. An Fei loved it. Later, back in their room, Ye Hai presented An Fei with a custom-made diving suit from Sweden, hoping they could win the first prize in an upcoming competition. An Fei was deeply touched and, in return, gave Ye Hai the "Memory Ship in the Bottle" necklace she had bought.
Ye Hai playfully called it a "mountain village" (knock-off) but was clearly overjoyed, cherishing it as her Valentine's Day gift. Andrew contacted Jiang Zhi, expressing impatience to eliminate Ye Hai. Jiang Zhi, in turn, challenged Andrew, stating he was not as patient, and being provoked would lead to trouble for Andrew. Jiang Zhi revealed his plan to Andrew: he wanted to know how Ye Hai would manage without advanced technology, implying he would target Mo Liang’s resources.
Jiang Zhi then called Liu Lan, ordering her to acquire Mo Liang's hydrogen storage technology and database. Liu Lan, however, expressed reluctance, stating her only desire was to help Mo Liang complete the experiment, not betray him. Jiang Zhi then harshly reprimanded and provoked her, stating that Mo Liang would likely compete against Ye Hai.
He further taunted her by bringing up An Fei, whom he called "amazing" for having two people help her, implying Mo Liang was one of them. Jiang Zhi cruelly pointed out that Mo Liang had chosen to help An Fei, suggesting Liu Lan was weaker than he thought and had lost her "bet" again.
He reminded her that Mo Liang had sacrificed much for her in the past, but now had nothing left—no experiments, no glory, and even the love she scorned was lost. Overwhelmed, Liu Lan begged him to stop, but Jiang Zhi relentlessly reminded her that they were both risk-takers and that she had lost this time. For Valentine's Day, An Fei declared her commitment to Ye Hai, emphasizing that being with him was what truly mattered.
Ye Hai jokingly warned her not to cry if she lost to Zhu Miao Miao in the upcoming diving competition. During the laboratory-organized diving competition, Andrew secretly entered the changing room to tamper with equipment before Ye Hai's dive. Liu Lan followed shortly after, stealthily swapping An Fei’s diving watch. Ye Hai was the first to dive. While underwater, Andrew ambushed Ye Hai from behind, grabbing his neck and causing him to choke and lose consciousness.
On the boat, An Fei and others noticed Ye Hai's vital signs on the monitor were not changing. As panic grew and no staff responded, An Fei, deeply worried, immediately jumped into the water without proper protective measures. She quickly located Ye Hai, who was unconscious, and began to bring him to the surface. Elsewhere, Liu Lan, hearing that something had happened in the diving area, believed her plan had succeeded and discarded the swapped diving watch.
Duan Xiche, following a lead from Dong Zi Long, tracked Andrew but lost him. Andrew, after shaking off Duan Xiche, called Jiang Zhi. He urged the continuation of the Poseidon project, expressing concern that their plans would be useless otherwise. Andrew also reported that An Fei had saved Ye Hai, and that Liu Lan had been present at the diving competition, deeming Liu Lan increasingly useless and careless. An Fei brought Ye Hai to shore and revived him.
However, for reasons unknown to Ye Hai, An Fei's temperament drastically changed. When Ye Hai regained consciousness, he asked An Fei what had happened underwater and if she was okay, but An Fei, in a volatile mood, simply told him to take care of himself and that he was too noisy. She then angrily left Ye Hai alone, leaving him utterly confused about her sudden change in temperament.
Shortly after, his ex-girlfriend, Hua Yin, arrived and advised Ye Hai to get his head injury checked at the hospital, as some injuries are not visible to the naked eye, but Ye Hai refused. He then noticed Hua Yin’s changed style, and she explained she dressed professionally to show respect for her job.
He asked her about An Fei’s strange behavior, but Hua Yin instead reminisced about happier times when Ye Hai used to tell her stories, subtly suggesting that he was now telling them to another girl. She then ended their conversation, telling him to walk the rest of his path himself and that she wouldn't give him gifts for the New Year.
