Jiang Zhi, consumed by frustration, lamented his inability to overcome the challenge presented by a small ship-in-a-bottle necklace, a stark contrast to his past invincibility in new energy research. Dr. C, however, scoffed at Jiang Zhi’s grand ambitions, pointing out that without proper exploiting and reserving techniques, his dream of seawater hydrogen fuel would remain shattered and worthless. At Auntie Zhang’s home, Ye Hai and An Fei were engrossed in a television show.
Auntie Zhang brought them food, gently chiding them for their junk food habits. An Fei playfully questioned Ye Hai about "Poseidon's" good personality, handsome looks, and faithfulness. Ye Hai retorted, suggesting someone (implicitly An Fei) first reflect on their own character. Their cozy evening was interrupted by Mo Liang’s arrival. He offered An Fei a ride to the hospital to visit her father.
Once there, Mo Liang made an excuse for An Fei to go ahead to her father’s room, while he secretly met with his doctor. The doctor delivered grim news, stating Mo Liang’s condition was worse than he thought and required therapy to prevent future life-altering symptoms. Disregarding the advice, Mo Liang went directly to An Fei's father’s room.
Shortly after Mo Liang’s consultation, Jiang Zhi called the same doctor and learned of Mo Liang’s deteriorating health, which he seemed to factor into his calculations. In An Fei's father's hospital room, An Fei’s mother encouraged her to pursue a relationship with Mo Liang, emphasizing the urgency. An Fei, however, shyly admitted she already had a boyfriend and promised to introduce him soon. Mo Liang then entered.
An Fei’s father, surprised by the news of her boyfriend, thanked Mo Liang for his supposed role in his rescue, believing Mo Liang had calculated the coordinates. He recounted his baffling experience of being caught in a storm, his boat stuck on a reef, and his subsequent rescue, unaware that Ye Hai was the true hero. Mo Liang, before leaving, assured An Fei that he would do his best on "that project."
As Mo Liang bid farewell, he instinctively reached to pat An Fei’s head, but she subtly dodged his hand, establishing a clear boundary. An Fei moved back home to her parents' house. That night, Ye Hai called her with trivial questions, simply to disturb her sleep. Early the next morning, Ye Hai unexpectedly appeared at An Fei’s house. An Fei's father, despite his surprise, immediately welcomed Ye Hai as An Fei’s boyfriend.
Ye Hai and An Fei then settled down to watch a horror movie, during which An Fei took a chocolate cookie, put it in Ye Hai's mouth, and then playfully bit off the other half herself, creating a sweet and intimate moment. An Fei's father, highly approving of Ye Hai, then bonded with him over their shared passion for the ocean, discussing his experiences in the South China Sea.
While retrieving a map for her father, An Fei discovered divorce papers signed by her parents. Heartbroken but concealing her emotions, she quickly made an excuse about urgent work and left with Ye Hai. Sensing her distress, Ye Hai took her to the beach to clear her head. There, An Fei confessed her sorrow about her parents’ impending divorce and lamented her own life, feeling like a pathetic failure at over twenty with no career.
Ye Hai comforted her by kissing her deeply. Meanwhile, Ming was seen at a KTV, complaining to Duan Xiche about his difficult and boring job, making Duan Xiche visibly nervous. Later, on Valentine's Day, Ming surprised Duan Xiche at work. Duan Xiche, initially flustered by the holiday decorations, thought it was a romantic gesture and regretted not preparing a gift. However, Ming clarified his visit, revealing his past as an intern journalist.
He shared details of an article he wrote about the Mu Sen Group providing equipment for an American Atlantic experiment, which was grandly announced as ushering in a new era of marine energy but then abruptly halted. Ming suspected Jiang Zhi and Mu Sen were connected and had a hidden agenda. Duan Xiche pondered this, connecting the information to Liu Lan's experiment from three years ago.
He found it suspicious that a pharmaceutical company like Mu Sen would invest so heavily in energy, theorizing that the experiment wasn't a failure but was deliberately stopped after Mu Sen had reaped considerable benefits, now leveraging everything for "Poseidon." Ming confirmed his information was from three years prior, found while tidying his old journalist gear. Duan Xiche then pointed out that both Liu Lan and Jiang Zhi were sent by Mu Sen to Poseidon.
Back at Auntie Zhang's, she was bustling with Valentine's Day party preparations. She questioned Ye Hai about his romantic plans for An Fei, expressing her disapproval of his lack of romantic gestures. Prompted by her, Ye Hai asked her to bake a special cake for An Fei, decorated with two hearts pierced by Cupid's arrow.
During their conversation, Auntie Zhang also revealed that Ye Hai’s parents had died in Greece, leaving him an orphan, and warmly assured him that her house was his home, with her, An Fei, and Mei Mei considering him part of their family. Ye Hai later sought out Dong Zilong to inquire about the true cause of Liu Lan’s experiment's failure. Dong Zilong explained that Liu Lan’s specific setback was merely a part of a larger scheme.
He stated that public reports were crafted to mislead and implicated Mu Sen, who was struggling to acquire Mo Liang's "reservation technique" and was expected to appear at an upcoming energy conference. Dong Zilong also highlighted Liu Lan’s recent withdrawal from public life and her unusually close relationship with Jiang Zhi, suggesting it was more than a professional introduction from Mu Sen.
He suspected Jiang Zhi's true intent was to either collaborate with or replace Mo Liang, and he would readily exploit Liu Lan. In his captivity, Dr. C confronted Jiang Zhi, questioning why an old man like himself, forgotten by the world, was being held prisoner. He revealed that the microchip in Ye Hai's head was becoming increasingly unstable, causing Ye Hai to believe he is Poseidon and posing a serious risk to his life. Dr. C then directly challenged Jiang Zhi, asking if he was responsible for the deaths of Ye Hai’s parents years ago.
