My Poseidon Episode 23 Recap
> My Poseidon Recap
An Fei awoke in Mo Liang's car, where she had fallen asleep. Mo Liang had been affectionately watching her before she stirred, and couldn't help but reach out and gently stroke her hair. He asked her if there were any issues between her and Ye Hai.
When An Fei seemed hesitant to answer, Mo Liang quickly interrupted, saying he did not want to make her uncomfortable, especially as he planned to assign her to the Scientific Research Department, which could lead to complications with Ye Hai. An Fei, however, reassured him that she would not let personal matters interfere with her work, as this field was her specialty, and she needed the income from her internship and assistant position.
Meanwhile, Duan Xiche prepared to send Ye Hai to the dock. He informed Ye Hai that two sonar machines from the lab had already entered the area near the island for surveying. Ye Hai instructed him to immediately initiate legal proceedings if the machines approached the island, making it clear he would not relent, even if An Fei were to intercede on their behalf.
At the Poseidon laboratory, the team rejoiced as they detected traces of hydrogen gas, confirming their first step was successful. Back at the lab, Liu Lan received a parcel from Jiang Zhi. Inside was a medical report detailing Mo Liang's malignant brain tumor. Liu Lan was distraught and called Jiang Zhi, who pressured her to use Mo Liang's dwindling time to seize control of the laboratory.
Overcome with emotion, Liu Lan cried, believing that any glory would be meaningless without Mo Liang. An Fei chatted with her colleagues, casually mentioning that Ye Hai owned the private island in question. Her colleagues were astonished, and some advised her to distance herself from Ye Hai. Zhu Miao Miao, however, approached An Fei with a sarcastic tone.
An Fei, in response, countered Zhu Miao Miao's barbs, explaining that hydrogen was discovered on the island thirteen years ago but never exploited, justifying Ye Hai's protective stance. She then declared to everyone that Ye Hai was not merely her boss but her boyfriend, leaving everyone stunned. Later, Kang Hao asked An Fei if she was truly in a relationship with Ye Hai, and her affirmative answer left him visibly disappointed.
Mo Liang, focused on the research, informed Kang Hao that the data from the third and fourth machines had been successfully returned. However, he noted that the third machine's transmission system was experiencing issues, preventing detailed data reception, and the fourth machine indicated hydrogen traces on the private island, but they could not approach it.
Despite the challenges of deep-sea repair, Mo Liang decided they needed to retrieve and redeploy the machine, leading him to conclude they must return to Nan Hai. Amidst the research discussions, Liu Lan was visibly distracted. Overwhelmed by Mo Liang's diagnosis, she sought solitude to cry. Mo Liang found her and, unaware of her true distress, asked what was wrong. Liu Lan tearfully embraced him, pleading with him to abandon the experiments and leave with her.
She hinted at his previous illness as a reason but could not bring herself to reveal the truth. Mo Liang, confused by her sudden intensity, told her not to worry about him, insisting he was fine and dismissing her concerns about his recent headaches. Liu Lan then implored him to trust her, promising to always be by his side. Ye Hai prepared to travel to the small island, driven by his desire to understand what his grandfather had left there.
Before he departed, Duan Xiche tried to dissuade him, suggesting his journey wouldn't change anything and questioning why so many people were interested in the island. Duan Xiche then called Ye Hai foolish for needing help with family matters, even though Ye Hai only expressed curiosity about his family's legacy. Ye Hai dismissed Duan Xiche's "poems" and rude remarks. After working late at the lab, An Fei dozed off and was tormented by nightmares.
In one dream, she found herself floating in the ocean, hearing a voice telling her to forget "him" (implying Mo Liang, given the context of her dream's dialogue which specifically linked the exhaustion to Mo Liang). In another part of her dream, she envisioned machines breaking down and miraculously repairing them with a chopstick. Waking from the unsettling dream, she learned that the third machine was now working properly and transmitting data.
She went to find Mo Liang, who confirmed they had decided to resolve issues locally instead of immediately returning to Nan Hai. An Fei brought up his frequent headaches, but Mo Liang brushed it off as a common side effect of intense work. She also questioned him about the potential harm of the Poseidon experiment to the ocean.
Mo Liang patiently explained that innovation was crucial for research, and they shouldn't be hesitant, viewing the potential benefits of new energy hydrogen as a way to improve the current situation, which brought him a sense of balance. He reminded An Fei, as a former member of a marine animal protection association, that she should view these issues from a researcher's perspective, emphasizing that without creating new things and trying, they would stagnate.
Later, An Fei decided to call Ye Hai to mend their strained relationship, despite her earlier resolve not to beg him regarding the island. Though she remained silent after he answered, Ye Hai immediately recognized her voice. He preemptively told her not to mention borrowing the island, stating that he absolutely would not agree, and that Poseidon would not accept it either.
An Fei, already upset by his harshness, retorted that he had fooled her and treated her like trash, accusing him of not considering her his girlfriend. Ye Hai demanded to know her location, threatening to come find her. He then curtly told her he was busy checking the island and had no time for her, calling her a "bastard" before hanging up. Soon after, Ye Tian arrived at An Fei's house.
Noticing Ye Hai wasn't there, he asked An Fei to accompany him. Ye Tian immediately brought up the island, and An Fei tried to explain that Ye Hai might not fully understand its significance or be interested in the new energy. Ye Tian, observing An Fei's close knowledge of Ye Hai, pressed further, asking if Ye Hai's behavior after returning from Greece—where he was attacked by pirates—indicated a mental issue.
An Fei firmly stated that all of Ye Hai's decisions were made consciously. Ye Tian then presented An Fei with an agreement, urging her to persuade Ye Hai to sign the island loan to ease his difficult situation, hinting that if the Board of Directors became aware of the conflict, it would not bode well for anyone involved. Caught between the two brothers, An Fei was deeply conflicted, unsure whether she should advise Ye Hai to lend the island.
Desperate for advice, she called Qiu A Ming, who, instead of offering help, launched into a rambling anecdote about his own family issues, prompting An Fei to hang up in frustration.
