Ye Hai spoke with Mo Liang, still expressing concern that Mo Liang might use high-frequency sonar. Mo Liang reassured him, stating firmly that he would not and that their equipment had been updated. Ye Hai smiled faintly, remarking that he doubted Mo Liang and Liu Lan had the audacity to do so. Mo Liang then shared that his team was actively searching for a second survey site, vowing that even if they failed again, he would persist.
Ye Hai had no objections, his only request was for Mo Liang to uphold a scientific attitude and avoid being exploited by those with ulterior motives. Mo Liang resolutely affirmed his understanding, and the two reached an agreement. Meanwhile, Ye Tian received news that Jiang Zhi had discovered a second survey site suitable for storing sea hydrogen, a development he shared with Lin Huayin. She, however, remained skeptical of Ye Tian’s grand ambitions.
At the laboratory, Liu Lan tried to learn what Ye Hai had said to Mo Liang, who revealed that Ye Hai's actions were primarily for An Fei's sake. Liu Lan then informed Mo Liang that the second site was a private island, requiring them to negotiate with the owners. Mo Liang agreed but preferred to wait for An Fei's return before proceeding. Elsewhere, An Fei felt unwell and went to the hospital.
Weak, she attempted to call her mother for help, only to learn that her mother was traveling abroad for a performance. An Fei, too exhausted to stand, collapsed in the hospital corridor, murmuring Ye Hai's name. A nurse, unable to reach An Fei's direct relatives, noted An Fei's repeated calls for Ye Hai and contacted him. A doctor diagnosed An Fei with pneumonia, noting she needed 24-hour observation.
Upon waking, An Fei discovered she had been unconscious with a high fever for three days. In a daze, she had experienced fragmented dreams, imagining conversations with Dr. Qiao. Feeling utterly alone, An Fei lamented her situation. An Fei later received a call from Mo Liang. Attempting to conceal her hospitalization, she lied, claiming she had been out with friends. Mo Liang invited her to join the team at the second survey site. An Fei enthusiastically agreed.
Mo Liang clarified that since the site was a private island, they needed to speak with the owners, but An Fei dismissed his concerns. After ending the call, An Fei wheeled her IV pole out of her ward. She managed to avoid Lin Huayin but then encountered Ye Hai, who had just returned from Nan Hai. The two, despite missing each other, immediately started bickering.
Ye Hai teased her about her gaunt appearance and patient attire, comparing her expression to a "pig face" from "Flirting Scholar." An Fei was furious, and they exchanged barbed remarks before parting ways unhappily. Heartbroken, An Fei wandered into a shopping mall, staring at a pink dress and recalling Ye Hai once saying she suited the color. Her sorrow deepened when Ye Hai and Lin Huayin emerged from the mall together.
An Fei ran off, crying as heavy rain began to fall. She bought an ice cream, intending to harm herself further, but Ye Hai, who had followed her, snatched it away. " Are you crazy? Your pneumonia hasn't recovered yet, and you're eating ice cream?" he chastised, then carried the weak An Fei back to the hospital, where he carefully looked after her. Waking again, An Fei felt an uncontrollable urge to kiss Ye Hai.
However, just as they were about to, Mo Liang called. An Fei awkwardly answered, quickly hanging up. Ye Hai, frustrated, remarked, "Next time we kiss, can you put your phone on silent?" Liu Lan felt uneasy seeing Mo Liang and An Fei talking so cheerfully on the phone. Ye Hai, his romantic mood shattered, feigned anger and left An Fei alone.
That evening, Liu Lan accompanied Mo Liang to watch a movie, but he continuously mentioned An Fei, making her feel uninteresting, so she left. Alone, Mo Liang reflected on the stones An Fei had given him. He realized he had started collecting them and writing his feelings on them, like a diary, ever since she gave him the first one. He pondered their meanings and realized she held a significant place in his heart.
Ye Tian presented two plans for Ye Hai to review: one proposed Ye Hai oversee the Nan Hai exploration's shipping logistics to prevent Lin Huayin's father from monopolizing the results, and the other sought ownership of an island under Ye Hai's name. Ye Hai agreed to the first but flatly refused to give up the island, stating it was his grandfather's legacy. Just then, Lin Huayin arrived, and Ye Hai quickly escaped.
Lin Huayin, annoyed by Ye Hai's dismissiveness, confronted Ye Tian, accusing An Fei of having "given Ye Hai drugs or something." She then informed him that Liu Lan's machines were about to be deployed. Later, Ye Hai discussed the island with his assistant, puzzled as to why his grandfather would keep such a "poor island."
His assistant revealed that the island was in a sensitive area, and his grandfather had purchased it to prevent illegal exploitation, intending to make it a nature reserve. This revelation made Ye Hai realize there was a significant issue with the island.
