My Poseidon Episode 18 Recap
> My Poseidon Recap
Mo Liang was surprised to find Liao Lan had also arrived at the Nan Hai laboratory. Liao Lan, with a false smile, claimed she had specifically come to assist Mo Liang with the research, stating the exploration was highly important to him. She planned to zone and calculate exploration points based on the marine situation, anticipating rapid progress.
A colleague noted that Dr. Liao and Dr. Mo were partners, but An Fei clarified she was only responsible for logistics and couldn't help with their scientific work. An Fei then mentioned that she and Mo Liang had watched a movie together the previous night, prompting Liao Lan to remind An Fei to focus all her energy on the impending exploration. Later, An Fei was working alone when she received a call from Ming.
An Fei lamented that she couldn't make calls easily there and complained about Liao Lan's presence at Nan Hai. Ming chuckled, remarking that Liao Lan truly seemed to be everywhere. He teased An Fei about Mo Liang, but An Fei said Mo Liang was busy discussing equipment with Liao Lan. Ming then gossiped about Liao Lan's past heartbreak, prompting An Fei to ask him to stop, expressing concern that their conversation might be overheard.
Ming noted An Fei sounded in good spirits. An Fei revealed she had watched a romantic movie with Mo Liang at midnight, describing their relationship as unclear, and wished Mo Liang were more assertive. Ming advised her to focus on her news reporting. He then shared big news: Jiang Zhi, a renowned former geologist, a great and mysterious figure who only engaged in scientific research, was returning to the country. Ming was eager to make a project about him.
Meanwhile, Ye Hai was at home watching a movie. Suddenly, the power went out. He initially thought it was a general outage. After closing his window, he discovered An De Lu inside his home. They immediately engaged in a violent struggle. Auntie Zhang, awakened by the commotion, came downstairs to investigate. An De Lu, finding himself at a disadvantage, lunged at Auntie Zhang.
To protect her, Ye Hai intervened and was hit on the head with an iron rod, falling unconscious. An De Lu then seized Ye Hai's bottle-ship necklace and fled. Auntie Zhang, regaining consciousness, frantically called for an ambulance. The following morning, An Fei, feeling restless at Nan Hai, started to work. While distracted, she stumbled, hit the back of her head, and fainted. In her semiconscious state, she imagined Ye Hai standing before her.
His stern gaze made her realize it was like Poseidon. She felt a sudden urge to apologize to him for not calling before she left, but he remained unresponsive and vanished. When An Fei fully awoke, she recalled her dream and worried that something might have happened to Ye Hai. She decided to call Auntie Zhang, using the rent as an excuse, but realized her phone had no signal.
At the hospital, Ye Hai lay injured but his life was not in danger. Lin Huayin, after learning about Ye Hai's injury from Auntie Zhang, immediately rushed to the hospital. Ye Hai, or rather Poseidon using Ye Hai's body, began shouting An Fei's name and telling Lin Huayin to leave. He declared "An Fei, I need you. An Fei, come back."
Confused and upset, Lin Huayin asked if he was "crazy" and wondered why he seemed to have forgotten her, even suggesting he go to the transmission room, possibly to contact An Fei. An Fei tried to call Ye Hai but couldn't get through, and Lin Huayin, still by Ye Hai's bedside, silenced his phone and disconnected the call, much to An Fei's disappointment. When Ye Hai truly awoke, he was startled to find Lin Huayin sitting by his bed.
She smiled and insisted on caring for his daily needs, even mentioning she had thrown away some red underpants that Auntie Zhang had given him. Ye Hai playfully told her to retrieve them, claiming they were for exorcism. He then resorted to Poseidon's tactic, pretending to undress to scare her away, which worked as Lin Huayin, calling him a "bastard," hastily exited the room.
Ye Hai quickly motioned for Duan Xiche to enter, and they covertly discussed the situation, pretending Ye Hai was using the restroom. Ye Hai instructed Duan Xiche to recover the stolen bottle-ship. He revealed that An De Lu had tried to kill him and wondered why An De Lu and his own brother were so interested in the bottle.
While affirming his trust in his brother not to conspire with his parents' killer, Ye Hai suspected they might share a common goal: an "energy source," possibly located in Nan Hai. He urged Duan Xiche to contact Dr. C about the bottle and investigate An De Lu's mysterious energy source. Duan Xiche reported that Mo Liang's exploration in Nan Hai was not yielding ideal results, with no energy source yet found.
He also confirmed that Liao Lan had gone to Nan Hai, and that the Poseidon lab was now managed by Lu Ting. Meanwhile, Liao Lan was in Nan Hai's transmission room, speaking on a satellite phone with her teacher. She updated her teacher on her arrival and boastfully announced the discovery of a new energy source, framing it as "deriving gain from misfortune" despite the storm.
Her teacher congratulated her but was only concerned with obtaining "sea hydrogen," disregarding the process and time required. Liao Lan assured her teacher she would seize the opportunity. Mo Liang then entered, questioning why Liao Lan was so urgently notifying someone, implying she might be secretly reporting news. Liao Lan denied it, claiming she was simply maintaining contact with headquarters and suggesting it was also an opportunity to request more food.
Mo Liang expressed skepticism about the storm's intensity and the rapid discovery of the energy source, stating that prior data did not support it. He emphasized the need to identify whether the discovery was oil, natural gas, or hydrogen, as only hydrogen was their goal. While they were talking, An Fei arrived, looking for a signal to make a call. Mo Liang, observing her, asked if she was lost. An Fei replied she was searching for a signal.
When Mo Liang commented that only the transmission room had a signal, and offered her the opportunity to contact family or a boyfriend, An Fei, feeling awkward, quickly left. Back at the Nan Hai base, food supplies were scarce, and everyone was tired of eating only steamed buns. An Fei, eager to improve everyone's nutrition, suggested to Brother Xiao Yong that they venture to a nearby residential area for supplies.
Brother Xiao Yong initially warned her against causing more trouble, but An Fei convinced him, reminding him that the scientists needed proper nourishment. She proposed borrowing his bicycle, despite his doubts about her riding ability. They set off, and after asking for directions, they found a house selling pork and vegetables. On their return journey, however, a sudden torrential downpour began, and the bicycle chain broke, forcing them to carry their heavy haul back to the base through the rain.
At lunch, everyone was delighted to find ribs and fresh vegetables. Brother Xiao Yong proudly explained that An Fei had gone to great lengths, cycling half the island in the rain, to get home-raised pork for them. Mo Liang, however, was angry, scolding An Fei for risking her health for food. An Fei explained that the weather had been fine when they left, and she simply wanted to improve their diet since everyone was working so hard.
Mo Liang told her to quickly eat, then take a hot bath and rest. He then revealed that the solar power system was broken due to the storm, meaning no hot water was available, though he assured them it would be fixed soon. Just as he finished speaking, An Fei suddenly fainted, causing alarm among her colleagues. Mo Liang quickly attended to her, checking her condition and telling her not to move. An Fei had a high fever.
As she lay unconscious, she again found herself dreaming of the ocean. This time, Ye Hai's voice called to her, saying "An Fei, come back. I need you." She wondered why she kept having such strange dreams. Simultaneously, Ye Hai, still in the hospital, received a report about the storm and its impact on Nan Hai; information lines were down, and only satellite phones could connect to the outside world.
He was told everyone was safe, but the large waves prevented boats from entering or leaving, and no new findings had emerged from the energy source. Still concerned, Ye Hai requested the phone, demonstrating his continued care for An Fei and the team despite his own injuries.
