My Poseidon Episode 1 Recap
> My Poseidon Recap
An Fei, a marine geology student, was out at sea with her companion Jialun when her detector picked up unusual sounds from dolphins, indicating illegal hunting. She planned a bold rescue: she would dive to cut the fishing nets while Jialun would distract the poachers. Jialun tried to bluff Andrew and his crew by claiming to be from the International Marine Conservation Association, but their plan failed, and both An Fei and Jialun were captured.
Andrew demanded a million dollars, and when An Fei couldn't pay, she offered her valuable detector. Andrew took it but still intended to eliminate them. Just as the situation grew dire, Ye Hai appeared, swiftly overpowering Andrew's men and rescuing An Fei and Jialun. Ye Hai, who had been tracking the poachers to protect marine life, saved An Fei's life by chance. Ye Hai expressed curiosity about An Fei's name, noting its connection to Amphitrite, the Greek sea queen.
An Fei explained that she was born at sea, which inspired her name. Reflecting on the close call, An Fei admitted she initially mistook Andrew's crew for ordinary fishermen, not dangerous criminals. Ye Hai, impressed by her courage, found her quite remarkable. When a crew member almost dropped a life raft on An Fei, Ye Hai quickly embraced her, saving her from harm, then playfully demanded a kiss as a reward.
An Fei, blushing, pushed him away and ignored his advances. Upon reaching shore, Jialun observed that Ye Hai's boat bore the emblem of the Hanhai Group, a major funder of marine conservation, and speculated that Ye Hai must be both wealthy and benevolent. An Fei, however, dismissed it as a mere display by the rich. Unbeknownst to them, Andrew, the leader of the poachers, had managed to escape his restraints.
Later, Ye Hai and An Fei took the injured crew member to the hospital. Andrew, still determined to retrieve the detector, ambushed An Fei. Ye Hai arrived just in time, once again saving her, though Andrew managed to escape in a boat. Ye Hai then took An Fei to the Poseidon Temple, vividly recounting the Greek myth of the sea king Poseidon and the sea queen Amphitrite. An Fei felt sympathy for Amphitrite's tragic fate, while Ye Hai listened thoughtfully.
Afterwards, Ye Hai received a phone call and prepared to head to an Energy Conference in Athens. An Fei, intrigued, insisted on accompanying him. Unbeknownst to her, the main speaker was Mo Liang, a brilliant scientist An Fei has long admired. Earlier, Mo Liang's presentation on his ambitious "Poseidon Project" had been sabotaged by a mysterious hack, but by the time An Fei and Ye Hai arrived, he had already resolved the technical glitch and was confidently resuming his lecture.
An Fei gazed at Mo Liang, clearly smitten. After the conference, An Fei attempted to speak with Mo Liang, but he was too busy and departed quickly, even rejecting her dinner invitation due to prior engagements. Shortly after, Jialun called An Fei, informing her that their boat had engine trouble. With nowhere else to stay, An Fei reluctantly accepted Ye Hai's offer to spend the night on his yacht.
Unable to sleep, she tossed and turned, her thoughts lingering on Mo Liang, her childhood friend and long-time crush from families with close ties. She eventually went looking for a drink and encountered Ye Hai. He flippantly remarked about her missing Mo Liang.
Ye Hai, who had feelings for An Fei, tried to flirt with her, suggesting a bottle of wine labeled "Specially for Ye Hai" was "love wine" and that by drinking it, she had accepted to be his girlfriend. Before he could act on his playful intentions, An Fei, feeling unwell from the alcohol, rushed to the restroom. As An Fei recovered, Andrew, with several accomplices, attacked Ye Hai's yacht, ramming their vessel.
The collision sent Ye Hai and An Fei stumbling into a wine storage area. An Fei discovered Ye Hai's extensive wine collection before realizing the intruders were on board. Ye Hai, surprisingly nonchalant about the invasion, instructed his crew. While An Fei frantically searched for tools, Ye Hai calmly found a towel and headed to the captain's room to deal with an intruder.
Andrew took Jialun hostage, threatening to throw him to the sharks if the detector wasn't produced within three minutes. An Fei appeared with the detector, but Andrew seized her. Ye Hai intervened, offering himself as a hostage in exchange for An Fei. Andrew, showing no mercy, stabbed Ye Hai with a dagger, then ordered his men to throw An Fei overboard. Despite his injury, Ye Hai broke free and immediately plunged into the stormy sea after her.
