As Shen Shiyan and the police arrived at the theater, they swiftly used an NdFeB magnet to disable the device that was tightening around Tan Jiao's neck, preventing the trap from activating. The masked figures in the audience turned out to be mere mannequins, and the true culprit was nowhere to be found in person. Wu Yu embraced his sister, Wu Miao, and Tan Jiao.

On a large screen, the culprit's image appeared, taunting them and acknowledging his defeat this time, but promising to send them to hell next. Wu Yu declared that no matter the universe, they now knew his true identity and would relentlessly pursue him. At that precise moment, time abruptly froze, and Tan Jiao and Wu Yu were once again thrust into a new timeline, waking up in tents on an island.

Chen Xingjian was already dead, and Zhou Wei was nowhere to be found. The group on the island believed Chen Xingjian's death was a calculated move by the culprit, implying that the trap was meant for Wu Yu, who usually led the way. Everyone was accounted for except Zhou Wei, leading Wu Miao to suspect him.

However, Tan Jiao insisted that Zhou Wei was not the killer, stating her certainty that the real culprit, Duan Yunying, was a man still lurking on the island. After reviewing their options, Tan Jiao speculated about various suspects but ultimately concluded that the true Duan Yunying might be hiding, similar to how Chen Xingjian had previously. Wu Yu agreed, deciding that finding Zhou Wei was their immediate priority.

Soon after, they learned from Chen Ruying that Zhou Wei had threatened her with a dagger and destroyed their supplies of food and water. Chen Ruying believed he was hiding in the cave, the only place left to search. Despite concerns about the risk, Wu Yu, asserting that they couldn't allow the culprit to pick them off one by one, led the group into the cave.

Inside, the group began disappearing one by one due to spacetime fluctuations, which Wu Yu explained as an inherent instability of the island that caused "space-time folding," teleporting individuals to random locations. He reassured Tan Jiao that as long as they held hands, they would be transported together. Eventually, only Tan Jiao and Wu Yu remained. They soon spotted Zhou Wei and pursued him.

Tan Jiao urged Zhou Wei to stop, assuring him they were there to help, knowing he was being controlled rather than acting on his own will. In a brief moment of clarity, Zhou Wei warned them of his danger and pleaded for them to leave. Before they could react, his eyes hardened, and he lunged at Wu Yu with a dagger. During their struggle, Wu Yu mysteriously vanished, leaving only Tan Jiao and a now malevolent Zhou Wei.

Wu Yu, having reappeared in another part of the cave, quickly found Chen Ruying and Wu Miao and led them to Tan Jiao's location. By the time they arrived, Zhou Wei was strangling Tan Jiao. Tan Jiao desperately appealed to Zhou Wei to regain control, reminding him of his wish to be free.

Zhou Wei briefly showed signs of lucidity, muttering that he "didn't mean it," but when Tan Jiao pressed him to reveal who was controlling him, he could only respond with "I don't know" before stabbing her in the chest with the dagger. As Tan Jiao collapsed, Zhu Yutong appeared, congratulating Zhou Wei with a "Well done," and then instructed the dazed Zhou Wei to complete his "final play."

When Wu Yu, Chen Ruying, and Wu Miao rushed in, they found Zhou Wei seemingly strangling Zhu Yutong. To Wu Miao's astonishment, Wu Yu quickly moved to restrain Zhu Yutong. Tan Jiao then rose unharmed, revealing that her injury was faked as part of their plan to expose the true culprit, Zhu Yutong, who was also Duan Yunying. Wu Yu confronted Zhu Yutong, revealing a necklace taken from Zhou Wei and identifying it as the device used to control others.

Zhu Yutong, surprised, questioned how they knew. Tan Jiao explained that they had already suspected the necklace, but a previous attempt to remove it resulted in spacetime folding. With Zhou Wei unable to identify the mastermind, they created this trap. Zhu Yutong, recalling his initial feelings of treating Wu Yu and Tan Jiao as family, disclosed that he had gained future memories after touching a crystal in the cave.

This foreknowledge showed him their repeated attempts to rescue the four girls he targeted, compelling him to eliminate them. Tan Jiao and Wu Yu confirmed that he, Ren Jie's friend, had killed the four girls for revenge, using Zhou Wei as a scapegoat. Zhu Yutong affirmed this, adding that he had ordered Zhou Wei to kill Chen Xingjian only after Chen Xingjian unexpectedly rushed ahead; Tan Jiao had always been his true target.

Wu Yu called Zhu Yutong a lunatic, while Tan Jiao challenged his twisted justifications for murdering, asking how Wu Miao could ever forgive him. Zhu Yutong, in turn, angrily blamed Tan Jiao for ruining his plans, asserting that she deserved to die. Zhu Yutong recounted his plan to shed his identity as Duan Yunying, destroy Ren Jie's photos, and start a new life as Zhu Yutong with Wu Miao.

However, Tan Jiao's unexpected cancellation of her book signing led Wu Miao to visit him early, where she discovered photos of his victims and the mask he used. Devastated, Wu Miao realized the man she loved was a serial killer and fled. Zhu Yutong was heartbroken, but Wu Miao later returned to their meeting place. Despite the truth, she professed her love and vowed to stay by his side, urging him to surrender.

Zhu Yutong embraced her, subtly asking if she had told anyone and if she would truly stay with him forever. After her tearful affirmation, Zhu Yutong, in a final act of madness, killed Wu Miao in his arms. He then took his own life, convinced that Tan Jiao was responsible for this tragedy. This tragic sequence of events was why Wu Yu never suspected Zhu Yutong, believing his love for Wu Miao was genuine.

Wu Yu deduced Zhu Yutong's method of control: using the crystal's high-frequency magnetic fields to transmit intracranial messages and alter brainwave frequencies. Before his death, Zhu Yutong had implanted a final command in Chen Xingjian: to kill Tan Jiao. This explains why Chen Xingjian, even after Zhu Yutong's death, relentlessly pursued Tan Jiao across different timelines. Zhu Yutong dismissed Chen Xingjian as "trash" for failing to kill Tan Jiao despite multiple opportunities, stating his death was deserved. Wu Yu, furious, demanded to know why Wu Miao disappeared in subsequent timelines. Zhu Yutong responded with a triumphant laugh, leaving Wu Miao's ultimate fate an unsettling mystery.
