At the lakeside, Mi Qiqi confronts Lv Ao, asking him to answer her questions truthfully. When she asks if he ever wanted to kill her, Lv Ao admits that he did in the past but asks her to trust the man he is now. He confesses that as a child hostage in Bei Cang, he was forced to ingest wolf poison. To protect the security of Yi Qi, this secret had to be kept at all costs.
When Qiqi accidentally discovered it, he caused her to fall into the lake. Fearing her memory would return, he initially planned to kill her but found he couldn't go through with it. Instead, he confined her to the West Yard, only to find himself secretly visiting her, realizing he had fallen in love. Hearing his confession, Qiqi decides to forgive him. They embrace, and Lv Ao promises to never hurt her again.
From a distance, Lv Che and Wu Ji witness their reconciliation. Qiqi brings Lv Ao back to her chambers and gives him Consort Yin's blank book, which she found in the West Yard. Lv Ao promises to compensate for all the suffering she endured. Qiqi playfully asks him to commit the rest of his life to treating her well, and he agrees before she gives him a surprise kiss.
Meanwhile, the Crown Prince of Bei Cang, Jie, is furious that his sister, Ling, is still missing. Heartbroken after seeing Qiqi and Lv Ao together, Wu Ji rebuffs Ling's attempts to comfort him. He removes the Witch Power that restricts her movement, but she chooses to stay by his side. Later, Qiqi, overjoyed, encounters Lv Che in the palace. He informs her that he is getting married, and she sincerely congratulates him.
Lv Che warns her that a king's love is often fleeting, but Qiqi dismisses his concerns. Elsewhere, Consort Ling learns that Lv Ao will attend Lv Che's wedding in three days with only Qiqi. She sees this as a perfect opportunity, as the wedding falls on the night of the full moon—a time when Lv Ao's wolf poison is likely to flare up. Ling confronts Wu Ji about his feelings.
Annoyed, he uses his powers to immobilize her and leaves, deciding to speak with Qiqi directly. When he returns to his room to change clothes, Ling accidentally sees him and blushes. She then slips and falls, pulling him down onto the bed with her. In the moment, Ling admits that she thinks she has fallen for him, but Wu Ji remains oblivious and dismisses her.
Lv Che visits Lv Ao for a drink, stating he won't be able to visit as often once he is a married man. Lv Ao presents him with a wedding gift: the "Duan Qi San" poison, the very same one Lv Che had tried to use on Qiqi. Lv Ao makes it clear that he knows about Lv Che's past plot to elope with Qiqi and warns him to cherish his future wife. Later that night, a drunken Lv Che wanders through the palace, reminiscing about Qiqi.
