My Calorie Boy Episode 2 Recap
> My Calorie Boy Recap
During a basketball match, Kang Jiawei made a crucial shot, winning the game for his team, though he fell to the ground along with Xu Jingjing. Afterwards, a worried Xu Jingjing learned from classmates that Gao Zhan was suffering from diarrhea. She also realized the letter she had written for him was missing from her pocket. That evening, Xu Jingjing’s parents noticed her distraction during dinner.
When her mother mentioned having used her dietary fiber powder, Xu Jingjing had a sudden realization: she had mistakenly given Gao Zhan her mother's dietary fiber supplement, thinking it was matcha powder, which caused his stomach issues. The next day, Xu Jingjing instinctively hid from Gao Zhan on the way to school, worried he would be annoyed with her.
However, Gao Zhan approached her, reassuring her that the team's earlier loss didn't matter and that he knew she hadn't caused his discomfort on purpose. His kindness brightened her mood, making her feel it was a blessing in disguise. Later in class, their classmate Ni Dapeng snatched a pink, lavender-scented letter from Kang Jiawei’s desk and began reading it aloud to everyone. The letter, written by Xu Jingjing, caused a commotion until their teacher, Ms. Chen, arrived.
When questioned, Xu Jingjing was unwilling to admit the letter was for Gao Zhan. To protect him from being reprimanded, she falsely claimed she had written it for Kang Jiawei and admitted to "liking" him. Meanwhile, Dean Zhang Chang'an instructed Ms. Chen to make an example of Xu Jingjing to curb any potential "bad practices" like puppy love.
Ms. Chen argued that it was a private matter and that youthful crushes should be handled with leniency, but the Dean rebuked her for her inexperience. Feeling "socially dead," a frustrated Xu Jingjing went to the taekwondo club to vent. Elsewhere, Kang Jiawei went to Ms. Chen's office. Having analyzed the letter's contents—mentioning someone who rides a bike and sits by the window—he deduced it was meant for Gao Zhan, not him.
To cover for Xu Jingjing, he fabricated a story, claiming they knew each other from middle school where he used to be "slim and handsome," and that she still had a crush on him. He promised Ms. Chen he would help her get over it. Later, a distracted Xu Jingjing ran a red light and was made to direct traffic as a penalty. Kang Jiawei found her and teased her about the situation, adding to her frustration over his interference.
She became determined to find who took her letter and put it in Kang Jiawei's desk. During morning self-study, Ms. Chen, under pressure from the Dean, asked Xu Jingjing to read a self-criticism report to the class. Kang Jiawei immediately objected, complaining that her writing was poor and a waste of time. Gao Zhan then stood up, agreeing that it was inappropriate to read it publicly as it concerned her privacy. With other students echoing their support, Ms. Chen relented.
Dean Zhang later confronted Ms. Chen, scolding her for caving to the students. Feeling conflicted, Ms. Chen went to the taekwondo club to vent her frustrations about the Dean, unaware that Gao Zhan was also there. He overheard her and offered his support, encouraging her to trust her own judgment. Later, Xu Jingjing thanked Gao Zhan for his help and asked him to investigate who framed her.
He initially declined, saying his interest in criminology didn't apply to her "child's play." However, Kang Jiawei interjected, praising Gao Zhan's skills by recalling how he had once caught a thief before the police arrived and that he loves mystery novels. Inspired, Xu Jingjing and Kang Jiawei theorized about the culprit, suspecting the janitor, Mr. Ge, might have misplaced the letter.
After Mr. Ge confirmed he never saw it, Gao Zhan reappeared and advised them to examine the letter itself for clues, before leaving to walk the other Xu Jingjing home, much to the protagonist Xu Jingjing's bewilderment. Using Xu Jingjing’s remedial class with Dean Zhang as a diversion, she tried to delay the teacher while Gao Zhan and Kang Jiawei searched his office for the letter.
Just before Dean Zhang returned, Gao Zhan and Kang Jiawei found a crucial clue on the letter: a trace of gold powder on the corner, which they concluded was left by the culprit. Later, Gao Zhan explained to the other Xu Jingjing that he walked her home out of concern for her safety. When she asked why he chose the protagonist's drink during the game, he simply said he prefers matcha over oolong tea.
Meanwhile, Dean Zhang expressed disappointment in the protagonist Xu Jingjing's poor test results and ordered her to quit the taekwondo club or he would have it disbanded, stating that clubs were not for "struggling students." Desperate, Xu Jingjing remembered Gao Zhan was a taekwondo black belt and asked him to become the new club president. He refused, so she challenged him to a match: if she won, he would have to take the role.
However, her friend Lu Xiaobai warned that fighting a boy would make her seem like "The Rock," causing her to back out. Kang Jiawei then encouraged her to go through with it, explaining that the serious-minded Gao Zhan would respect her for not backing down. As he spoke, Kang Jiawei noticed the ankle bracelet Xu Jingjing was wearing was identical to one worn by the other Xu Jingjing, leaving him shaken.
Later, Kang Jiawei tried to subtly ask Xu Jingjing if she used the social media site Douban, specifically a group called "Why Am I Worthless?" , which caused her to react with angry denial. As classmates placed bets on the match, Gao Zhan promised the other Xu Jingjing he would walk her home afterward. The match began with Xu Jingjing determined to impress Gao Zhan, but in the middle of the fight, he suddenly vanished from the mat, leaving everyone in confusion.
