Qian Heng finally agreed to persuade Huang Ran and Chen Linli to reconcile before the court ruling. Since Chen Linli was still hospitalized, Qian Heng brought Huang Ran to the hospital. With Cheng Yao's persuasion, Huang Ran decided to drop the appeal and reconcile with Chen Linli as before. She also praised Cheng Yao as the most compassionate lawyer she had ever met.

Qian Heng told Cheng Yao that if he had met her earlier, he might have had more respect and expectations for marriage. The Chen Linli case had taught him an important lesson. All the family cases he had handled before ended in ugliness and conflict, but this time, Cheng Yao made him reflect. He decided to start viewing Cheng Yao as a rival and looked forward to competing with her in court soon.

Qian Heng planned to drive Cheng Yao home but found his car had been towed, so they had to walk. Passing by the plaza, they sat by the fountain to rest. Qian Heng apologized to Cheng Yao for making decisions on his own earlier. He also admitted that it was her appearance that made him see the beauty of marriage. He expressed his wish to marry her one day.

Cheng Yao accepted his apology, saying it was her own inferiority complex that led her to overinterpret Qian Heng’s kindness. As for the marriage proposal, she didn’t respond directly. Instead, she teased him by quoting his previous view that marriage only protects property, not love. Wu Jun told Qian Heng that the reconciliation between Chen Linli and Huang Ran had great significance for Junheng’s competition for the Jintianping Award.

Naturally, Qian Heng was the biggest contributor, so he planned to treat everyone to a seafood feast. Bao Rui and Yu Fei eagerly joined. Qian Heng texted Cheng Yao to invite her to dinner, but she said she was dining at a Sichuan restaurant with Gu Beiqing that night to discuss a case.
