At her uncle and aunt's invitation, Xu Yiren had dinner with them, where they asked her to help Yu Qing find a job after being fired by Li Zhe. Xu Yiren firmly refused, stating she had already made her position clear. Her aunt grew frantic, admitting her previous behavior was selfish and wrong, and even offered to let Xu Yiren hit her to vent her anger.
Yu Qing then tearfully confessed that she had always been jealous of Xu Yiren—of her beauty, intelligence, and popularity. Fearing Xu Yiren would steal the love she felt she deserved, she subconsciously tried to take things from her. Yu Qing expressed deep regret for her actions and pleaded for a chance to rebuild their sisterly bond, regardless of the job.
Moved by her uncle's distress and seeing him as her only remaining family, Xu Yiren relented and promised to consider it. Later, Xu Yiren confided in Fang Zhiyou, feeling weak for her soft-heartedness. Fang Zhiyou reassured her, explaining that blood ties are not easily severed and acknowledging that her uncle, despite being hen-pecked, truly regarded her as family.
Xu Yiren recalled a childhood memory of her uncle secretly slipping a large, red apple into her schoolbag after her aunt had given the best fruit to Yu Qing. She noted that her uncle had never begged her for anything before. With newfound confidence that no one could hurt her anymore, she playfully asked Fang Zhiyou for a "girlfriend's favor" to help Yu Qing, offering a kiss from her dog Danfu in return.
Fang Zhiyou, after a moment of playful hesitation, agreed to speak with He Yuwen but noted that recruitment was ultimately an administrative decision. Fang Zhiyou brought Yu Qing's resume to He Yuwen, explaining she was Xu Yiren's cousin and asking her to be prioritized. He Yuwen was initially hesitant about having relatives in the same department. Xu Yiren, who overheard, rushed in to apologize, taking responsibility for the request.
He Yuwen playfully accused Xu Yiren of using "pillow talk" to influence Fang Zhiyou, then grew serious, warning her to be cautious as some people never change. Ultimately, He Yuwen agreed to hire Yu Qing as a junior assistant but made it clear she would be fired if her performance was unsatisfactory. On her first day, Yu Qing was met with a cold reception and immediately swamped with menial tasks by her new colleagues.
Later, Xu Yiren brought a specially prepared coffee to He Yuwen, expressing her happiness that the "Sister Wen" who had treated her like a sister was back. Xu Yiren admitted she initially thought He Yuwen was upset about the hiring but now realized she was simply worried for her. She playfully added that this understanding didn't mean she would give up on Fang Zhiyou.
He Yuwen smiled, but after Xu Yiren left, she dropped the sugar cube Xu Yiren had added into the trash. Meanwhile, Li Zhe visited Professor Qu, the Fang family's doctor, and directly asked if Fang Zhanyang had Alzheimer's. Citing patient privacy, Professor Qu refused to disclose any information. With the Moon Bay Resort Project officially starting, Fang Zhiyou decided to reward the design department.
Yu Qing eagerly suggested a venue, but when Fang Zhiyou asked for Xu Yiren's opinion, he immediately settled on the location once she approved. Gu Bo remarked to Xu Yiren that Fang Zhiyou's skills at winning a girl's heart were getting stronger, as he had publicly shown he only valued her opinion. Xu Yiren retorted that Gu Bo was equally skilled at pleasing Xia Di.
She then urged him to be honest with Xia Di about his family background, especially since Xia Di's mother already knew. Fearing Xia Di would leave him, Gu Bo decided to propose, believing that by securing their engagement, he could bind her to him before she could get angry. Later, Li Zhe met Xu Yiren and played a recording of his conversation with Professor Qu's assistant, who claimed Fang Zhanyang was suffering from hypertension due to work stress, not Alzheimer's.
Li Zhe furiously denounced Fang Zhanyang as a hypocrite who would lie to achieve his goals and showed no remorse. He wanted Xu Yiren to see the Fang family's true nature, reiterating his inability to forgive. When Xu Yiren expressed doubt, Li Zhe challenged her to find the truth herself, implying she would do it for Fang Zhiyou. At the same time, Fang Zhiyou returned to his family home to confront his father.
He questioned him about his irreversible illness, but Fang Zhanyang deflected. Fang Zhiyou pressed him on his past deception. Fang Zhanyang defended his actions, claiming Li Zhe's father, Li Jinghong, was not innocent and that he had saved him from a worse fate in court. Enraged, Fang Zhiyou demanded to know why his father had lied after promising to be Li Jinghong's defense lawyer, only to switch sides.
He expressed his deep hurt and inability to trust a father who could lie so flawlessly. Fang Zhanyang apologized, but Fang Zhiyou insisted the apology was owed to Li Jinghong, which his father refused to do. Fang Zhiyou vowed not to give up and urged his father to reconsider if he truly cared, promising to wait for an answer. As a storm brewed, his sister, Shiyu, pleaded with him to stay the night, and he agreed.
The next morning, Xu Yiren was waiting when Fang Zhiyou returned, looking exhausted with a cold. He embraced her, admitting he had spent the night reminiscing about his childhood and realized he could, in fact, go home again. Xu Yiren urged him to rest. Recalling that Shiyu had twice stopped their father from taking his pills, believing they were just for sleep, she advised Fang Zhiyou to see Professor Qu again to discuss a proper treatment plan. She then offered to visit Fang Zhanyang herself, hoping to improve the family's relationship. Touched, Fang Zhiyou thanked her, and she firmly sent him to bed to rest.
