The next morning, after waking up from a bad dream about Li Zhe, a still-ill Fang Zhiyou found that Xu Yiren had stayed and taken care of him all night. He was touched when she forced him to eat porridge and take his medicine. As Xu Yiren prepared to leave, she received a text message from Li Zhe, who apologized for his actions, clarifying that his intentions were not to gather information about Fang Zhiyou but genuinely to pursue her.
He hoped they could go out on another date. When Fang Zhiyou asked about the message, Xu Yiren quickly hid her phone, claiming it was from her aunt to avoid suspicion. Later, as it grew late, Xu Yiren prepared to leave, but Fang Zhiyou insisted she stay the night, deeming it unsafe for her to travel alone. That night, Xu Yiren joined Fang Zhiyou as he worked overtime. He suggested they play a game to stay awake.
They chose Sudoku, but Xu Yiren, not proficient in math, consistently lost, resulting in Fang Zhiyou drawing all over her face. She then proposed a game of luck, asking him to guess which hand held a pen cap, and finally won a round. Fang Zhiyou chose "truth" as his penalty. Xu Yiren questioned if he hated her because she often lied, noting his dislike for falsehoods. Fang Zhiyou affirmed his aversion to lies but stated he did not hate her.
He explained that while he still believed lies were unforgivable, he was beginning to consider that there might be underlying reasons, perhaps even good intentions or unavoidable circumstances behind them. Though his fundamental dislike for lies remained, he was willing to try and understand them. Xu Yiren brought up past instances where he knew she had lied or knew about Sha Sha's mistake with the USB, yet he did not fire her.
Fang Zhiyou then turned the question on her, asking if she hated him, especially since her life took a turn for the worse after meeting him. Xu Yiren admitted that initially, she found him conceited, rude, and irritating. However, after spending time with him, she realized his awkward personality was actually quite endearing, and most importantly, he was a kind person who simply struggled with expressing himself. She then concluded that she didn't hate him either.
When Xu Yiren won another round, Fang Zhiyou abruptly declared he was tired and wanted to sleep, causing Xu Yiren to express her frustration at him quitting after she had only won once. The following morning, He Yuwen inquired about Xu Yiren’s whereabouts. Fang Zhiyou informed her that Xu Yiren had requested leave from him. He Yuwen expressed her displeasure, asserting her right as head of the Administration Department to be informed when her employees took leave.
Fang Zhiyou apologized and promised to be more careful in the future. He then asked He Yuwen for assistance with an urgent matter. He Yuwen accompanied Fang Zhiyou to a client meeting where Fang Zhiyou bluntly stated that the client's company might not meet their expectations. He Yuwen quickly interceded, explaining that their company’s style might not align with the project, but there could be future opportunities for collaboration.
She later chided Fang Zhiyou, expressing concern about him offending too many modeling companies and urging him to consider future options. Fang Zhiyou explained that he brought her precisely because he feared losing control of his temper. He acknowledged that Square & Circle would have likely failed without her.
After the meeting, Fang Zhiyou tasked He Yuwen with contacting the top modeling companies, a challenging endeavor given their limited number, their already full schedules, and the relatively small scale of the Moon Bay project. Despite her reservations, He Yuwen accepted the formidable task. Meanwhile, Li Zhe went to a driving school to exchange his overseas driver's license, where he unexpectedly encountered Xu Yiren, who was learning to drive.
He promised her that he would no longer inquire about Fang Zhiyou's affairs. He shared that he had few friends, especially after moving back to China, and that despite their limited interactions, he genuinely enjoyed their conversations. He confessed that his initial pursuit of her was partly because she was Fang Zhiyou's assistant, but now, he sincerely wished to be friends with her for who she was. He suggested they re-introduce themselves.
He Yuwen, pursuing Fang Zhiyou's request, sought help from Chen Qiming to connect with a top modeling company. Chen Qiming, who had a personal connection with Mr. Qi of Dasheng Modeling, agreed to help, though he warned that Dasheng was a renowned company and might not take on their relatively small project. Li Zhe was set to become the head of Dasheng. He congratulated Mr. Qi on his transfer to the Shanghai headquarters.
Aware that Dasheng had previously refused Square & Circle's projects, Li Zhe leveraged his friendship with Fang Zhiyou to persuade Mr. Qi to accept the project, subtly offering him a favor in return. Although Mr. Qi initially expressed reservations due to the project's size and Dasheng's full schedule, he eventually agreed to arrange another meeting with Square & Circle's representatives.
As Fang Zhiyou drove Xu Yiren to the Moon Bay resort for an inspection, eager to create something new and meaningful, his car suddenly got a flat tire. Unable to make the scheduled meeting with Mr. Qi, Fang Zhiyou had to send He Yuwen alone. He Yuwen, accompanied by Chen Qiming, attended the dinner. Mr. Qi, displeased by Fang Zhiyou's absence, questioned his sincerity in the collaboration.
Despite He Yuwen's explanation about Fang Zhiyou's car trouble and his promise to personally apologize, Mr. Qi insisted she drink three penalty cups on Fang Zhiyou's behalf. Chen Qiming attempted to intervene and drink in her place, but Mr. Qi demanded he drink double if he wished to "play the hero." With the roadside assistance company off-duty until the next morning, Fang Zhiyou and Xu Yiren were stranded and forced to spend the night in the car.
They shared the limited bread he had. Fang Zhiyou expressed his frustration with the company's unreliability, lamenting that they had waited four hours for a service that never came. Xu Yiren tried to lighten the mood by appreciating the beautiful scenery and fresh air, suggesting they view it as an impromptu camping trip.
As they gazed at the stars through the car's sunroof, Xu Yiren recalled the last time she saw such a beautiful starry sky: when she was twelve years old. She had gotten lost during a spring outing in the mountains and was terrified until a kind older boy found her and carried her to a nearby police station. It was on his back, looking up, that she saw the sky full of stars.
She admitted she had always wanted to find him but had no clues. Fang Zhiyou commented that perhaps they were not destined to meet again, but Xu Yiren held onto the hope that she would one day. At the dinner, He Yuwen, despite Chen Qiming's attempts to help her, had to drink several cups of alcohol for the sake of Square & Circle's business, which Mr. Qi accepted. Afterward, He Yuwen returned home, immediately collapsing by the toilet and vomiting.
She tried to call Fang Zhiyou to share the good news, but her body gave out, and she lost consciousness. Chen Qiming, who had followed her home to ensure her safety, gently carried her to her bed. The next morning, Fang Zhiyou and Xu Yiren woke up in the car. Fang Zhiyou playfully teased Xu Yiren about drooling in her sleep, then called it a joke when she accused him of lying.
Shortly after, Dasheng sent the contract to Square & Circle. Fang Zhiyou was deeply grateful to He Yuwen for securing the agreement. He Yuwen appeared composed, feigning well-being, but was clearly unwell, discreetly asking Sha Sha to find some stomach medicine. When Sha Sha struggled to locate the medicine in the emergency kit, Xu Yiren overheard and quickly offered her own antacids, proving to be a timely savior for He Yuwen.
Fang Zhiyou, acknowledging Dasheng's strength, expressed renewed confidence in the Moon Bay Resort project with their assistance and apologized to He Yuwen for having sent her alone to the dinner. He Yuwen brushed it off, stating it was better that way as it prevented him from offending people with his bluntness.
