One day, as the Emperor strolled through the palace, he discovered a Westerner causing a commotion outside the gates. The man was loudly proclaiming that his "red apricot" was within the palace. The Emperor, intrigued, ordered the guards to bring the Westerner in to understand his true intentions. Once in the palace, the Roman, later referred to as Xiao Sa, soon spotted Piao Liji and rushed to embrace her. The Emperor remarked on the openness of Romans.
Bu Meng, however, explained that such expressions and intimate actions were simply part of Roman tradition and did not necessarily imply deep affection. Later that evening, under a sky full of twinkling stars and a shooting star, Liu Jinyan met Piao Liji. During their conversation, mutual feelings secretly arose between them. Liu Jinyan, unable to resist, leaned in for a kiss, but Piao Liji found him frivolous and slapped him hard.
The following day, a distraught Piao Liji confided in Bu Meng, Qu Xiao, and Consort Yan, expressing her confusion over Liu Jinyan's behavior and wondering if he truly liked her. They advised her to test his feelings to find out. As Liu Jinyan happened to pass by, Piao Liji, acting on their advice, dramatically fainted with a loud cry.
Bu Meng, Qu Xiao, and Consort Yan quickly and cooperatively urged Liu Jinyan to carry her to the Imperial Hospital for treatment. Once alone, Piao Liji told Liu Jinyan her feelings. Liu Jinyan was both surprised and overjoyed to realize he held a place in her heart. However, he also recognized their differing social statuses: he was an imperial physician, while Piao Liji was a princess, and he felt his status did not match hers.
Meanwhile, Cai Taixian, having overheard their conversation, secretly rejoiced and slyly extorted hush money from Liu Jinyan to keep the secret. A few days later, Piao Liji brought Liu Jinyan some homemade appetizers. Though they were incredibly salty, Liu Jinyan, touched by her gesture, pretended to enjoy them immensely. Soon after, Bao Qu, He Qiliao, and Cai Taixian arrived, eager to share drinks with Liu Jinyan. During their drinking, Cai Taixian, despite accepting hush money, finally revealed the secret.
Bao Qu, He Qiliao, and Cai Taixian began teasing Liu Jinyan about his romance with Piao Liji, saying he was "living off a woman." To save face, Liu Jinyan vehemently denied any relationship with Piao Liji. Unbeknownst to him, Piao Liji had returned to his chamber and overheard his hurtful remarks. Piao Liji returned to Fanghua Palace in tears. Bu Meng learned the reason and proposed an elaborate act to test Liu Jinyan's sincerity.
Following Bu Meng's plan, Piao Liji deliberately pretended not to notice Liu Jinyan nearby and acted affectionately with Xiao Sa. Liu Jinyan saw this and completely broke down, rushing straight over. Piao Liji, however, deliberately pretended to ignore him and walked away. Xiao Sa then decided it was time for him to leave and, expressing his sincerity, asked Piao Liji if she wanted to travel the world with him. Piao Liji began to hesitate.
Liu Jinyan fell into a deep depression. Bao Qu tried to provoke him into action by revealing that Xiao Sa had gone to a temple, sought a marriage fortune, and tied a red string on Piao Liji's hand. This news finally spurred Liu Jinyan, and he rushed out.
Piao Liji, feeling that Liu Jinyan might not truly have her in his heart, decided to bid farewell to her friends in Fanghua Palace and prepare to travel the world with Xiao Sa to clear her mind. On the day of Piao Liji's departure, as she prepared to leave with Xiao Sa, Liu Jinyan watched.
Bao Qu urged a hesitant Liu Jinyan to act, telling him that if he didn't try harder, he would end up a sad single man like him. Liu Jinyan finally mustered his courage and intercepted the carriage. He poured out his heart, confessing his deep love for Piao Liji and making heartfelt promises for their future together, vowing to cherish her and dedicate his life to her.
Piao Liji was deeply moved by Liu Jinyan's heartfelt confession, and the two happily embraced. Fresh flower petals fluttered everywhere, like a pink flower petal rain. As the surrounding crowd dispersed, Bu Meng gently snuggled into the Emperor's arms, watching the scene. She finally dared to face her inner self and found warm and steadfast solace in the Emperor's embrace, wishing that all lovers in the world might find their happy ending.
