Eva was in a deeply frustrated mood, unleashing her anger on Xiao Nan. She recalled Ruan Dongsheng nearly kissing her on the tree, only to suddenly retreat and leave her there alone. Eva suspected Ruan Dongsheng and Xiao Nan had an ambiguous relationship, which made her view Xiao Nan unfavorably. Consequently, she rejected every model Xiao Nan suggested for her ad shoot. Ruan Dongsheng, too, was conflicted by his own actions.
He returned to his father’s old restaurant, where memories of his past with Zhen Yuanyuan resurfaced. He invited Gu Shu to taste his "Four Tastes of Life" dishes. After tasting them, Gu Shu remarked that the food now carried much more emotion than before, suggesting Ruan Dongsheng was in love. Ruan Dongsheng confided in Gu Shu about Eva, admitting that she had influenced both his cooking and himself.
However, he felt that liking Eva would be a betrayal to Zhen Yuanyuan, a betrayal he could not commit. Gu Shu expressed his helplessness at Ruan Dongsheng's rigid thinking, urging him not to dwell on the past but to cherish the person he loved in the present. At the company’s advertisement shoot, Eva's anger had not subsided. Ruan Dongsheng arrived late and, seeing Eva in a seemingly intimate pose with a male model, quickly interrupted the filming.
He wanted to explain and apologize for leaving her on the tree that day, but Eva feigned indifference. As Ruan Dongsheng turned to leave, Eva, provoked by his apparent insincerity, attempted to stand up and stop him, accidentally tearing her dress on a chair. Ruan Dongsheng immediately turned back, removed his suit jacket, and wrapped it around her. Eva felt a brief moment of sweetness, but Ruan Dongsheng ruined it by describing her as "frivolous," instantly igniting her fury.
Ruan Dongsheng and Eva remained unyielding in their conflict. Ruan Dongsheng, furious, threatened to terminate Eva's contract, but Eva showed no fear. Their dispute escalated, leading to a complete impasse where they ignored each other. Overwhelmed by frustration, Ruan Dongsheng took his anger out on his subordinates. Yiren, discerning the underlying tension, gathered Ni Hao and went to Eva's home. There, Yiren revealed to a surprised Eva that Ruan Dongsheng had fallen in love with her.
Infuriated by Ruan Dongsheng's perceived hypocrisy, Eva decided to exact her revenge: make him fall deeply in love with her, then unceremoniously dump him. Despite her eagerness to learn, the "love strategies" she gleaned from books proved utterly useless against Ruan Dongsheng. Observing Eva's chaotic attempts, Xiao Nan decided to reveal the true art of pursuing a man: a direct approach. Eva immediately put this advice into practice.
She pretended to be drunk and followed Ruan Dongsheng home, hoping to see if he would succumb to her charms. Ruan Dongsheng, however, confronted her, stating that he had been testing her all along, wanting her to face him with her true emotions rather than "fake tricks." He then directly asked if she was Zhen Yuanyuan.
In her agitated state, Eva accidentally stepped on a piece of glass that Ruan Dongsheng had carefully preserved – a fragment from the incident where Zhen Yuanyuan had cut her foot. Eva showed no recognition of the item. Disappointed, Ruan Dongsheng concluded that she was not Zhen Yuanyuan. He heartbrokenly rejected her, telling her she was not the person he liked. Eva then left in despair. Qiao Man informed Yiren that their contract was ready for signing.
Yiren later discovered that the contract's smooth execution was thanks to Xiao Nan's intervention. Recalling waking up in pajamas after her drunken night, Yiren became concerned that Xiao Nan might have taken advantage of her. She confronted Xiao Nan with questions, but he merely teased her.
When Yiren grew angry and attempted to leave, Xiao Nan produced a video recording of her drunken behavior from that night, threatening to post it online unless she handled the contract matters within three months. From that day on, Yiren became noticeably distracted. Later, when her aunt called to inquire about house cleaning, she casually mentioned that she was the one who had changed Yiren's clothes that night. This revelation cleared Yiren's misunderstanding, significantly improving her impression of Xiao Nan.
Xiao Nan suddenly charged forward, punching Ruan Dongsheng and warning him to stop hurting Eva. Yiren rushed to intervene, urging Xiao Nan not to resort to violence, but he sharply rebuked her. Ruan Dongsheng was deeply conflicted. He picked up the keychain Eva had given him and threw it into the trash can. However, after a moment, he could not bring himself to leave it there and retrieved it from the bin, a clear sign of his lingering feelings.
