Jiang Baiyu touched what he believed to be a mechanism, but nothing happened. Shui Wuxia then noticed a poem inscribed on a stone tablet. After reading the verse, they speculated that it might be connected to the various dishes laid out on a table. They carefully arranged the food items according to the clues in the poem. Once everything was in place, Jiang Baiyu pressed the same button he had touched earlier, and a hidden door swung open.

Beyond the door, they found another room with more poems, which spoke of profound longing, unrequited love, and bitter accusations of betrayal. Jiang Baiyu interpreted these verses, suggesting that their predicament was akin to love itself, often leaving one caught in a dilemma. He then playfully asked Shui Wuxia about her ideal man. She described a man who would fear neither arduous paths nor societal judgment, one who was cunning yet kind-hearted.

Most importantly, if he loved her, he would be willing to journey alongside her while still allowing her the freedom to soar like an eagle. Jiang Baiyu, teasing, asked if she meant someone experienced, older, and with "eagle-like features." Shui Wuxia, dismissing his teasing, called him a "little rascal." Seeing her reaction and lack of denial, Jiang Baiyu jokingly shouted that "Master Shui is in love" towards both available exits.

He then noticed that one side produced a loud, quick echo, indicating a dead end, while the other side’s echo lingered, marking the way forward. They chose the latter path. Eventually, Jiang Baiyu and Shui Wuxia reunited with Jiang Tianling and another participant, forming a group of four. Shui Wuxia noted that the initial poems were merely a distraction, and their instructor, Hou, was testing their ability to think unconventionally.

Jiang Tianling expressed his surprise and delight at seeing his older brother, Jiang Baiyu, and Shui Wuxia. As they navigated the final stage, they encountered poisonous fumes and a barrage of arrows. In the chaos, Jiang Baiyu quickly grabbed Shui Wuxia’s hand, and all four managed to escape the traps. With their successful exit, Jiang Baiyu was announced as the winner of the assessment.

After the assessment, Qi Delong visited Jiang Tianling, offering comfort for his loss, but he genuinely expressed happiness for Jiang Baiyu's victory, acknowledging his brother's surprising and rapid improvement, which made their rivalry more exciting. Qi Delong then suggested that Jiang Tianling should also go to Jiangzhou to relax, despite it being Jiang Baiyu's reward. Though initially hesitant due to propriety, Jiang Tianling eventually agreed.

Meanwhile, Shui Wuxia asked Ba Xi to hang red lanterns and deliver a message to Shen Qingli: she would be waiting for him on Jiangzhou Bridge on the Double Seventh Festival. Ba Xi playfully teased her, to which Shui Wuxia insisted they were merely friends planning to stroll around. Jiang Baiyu had already secured permission for his trip, telling Fang Yuncheng that he wouldn't need to accompany him to Jiangzhou.

On the Double Seventh Festival, Shui Wuxia, dressed beautifully, and Jiang Baiyu traveled to Jiangzhou, a place bustling with people and vibrant red lanterns. Jiang Baiyu openly complimented her appearance. As they enjoyed the festive atmosphere, eating cherry blossom flavored cotton candy, they unexpectedly met Jiang Tianling, Qi Delong, and Fang Yuncheng. Jiang Tianling, feigning concern that Shui Wuxia might get lost, waited for her after she went to buy more cotton candy.

He then attempted to give her a precious hairpin named "Phoenix's Grace," but Jiang Baiyu interrupted, taking the hairpin from him. Qi Delong recognized the item, and Jiang Baiyu commented on its high cost. Seeing an opportunity, Jiang Tianling gracefully presented "Phoenix's Grace" to Qi Delong instead, acknowledging her dedication in helping him with his studies. Jiang Baiyu then light-heartedly offered to buy something similar for Shui Wuxia, but she declined.

Later, while they were gathered, Shui Wuxia inwardly yearned for Shen Qingli's arrival, needing to find a way to leave. Jiang Baiyu, also needing to escape to deal with an impending supply wagon, proposed a game of dice. The rules were simple: the person whose number was rolled had to drink and then could ask any question, which the chosen person had to answer truthfully. Everyone agreed.

Fang Yuncheng was the first to drink and asked Qi Delong if she had a crush, which she confirmed without naming the person. Next, Jiang Tianling rolled, drank, and asked Shui Wuxia what kind of man she liked. Before she could answer, Jiang Baiyu quickly interjected, repeating her earlier description of an ideal man who was unafraid of hardship, cunning yet kind, and would let her be an eagle.

He then jokingly summarized that she liked older, experienced men with "eagle-like features." As the game continued, Jiang Baiyu noted that Shui Wuxia had a remarkably high alcohol tolerance, and she similarly observed that he seemed unfazed by the drinks. Finally, both of them seized the chance to escape, separately excusing themselves to go to the outhouse.

After leaving the festivities, Shui Wuxia stopped at a stall and purchased two glazed bracelets, a symbol of undivided love, hoping that a couple wearing them would be together forever. Shortly after, Jiang Baiyu passed the same stall, looking thoughtfully at the items. Unbeknownst to Shui Wuxia, Shen Qingli was engaged in a critical mission at the Jiangzhou Post House.

He had located and was attempting to rescue the owner of the "Red Gold Phoenix Tail Needle" from a supply wagon. He gave the person something to ingest before trying to escape. However, a group of black-clad assailants arrived, intercepted them, and after a fierce struggle, overpowered Shen Qingli and knocked the owner unconscious, taking him away. Shen Qingli was unable to pursue them. Meanwhile, Shui Wuxia waited patiently on Jiangzhou Bridge, expecting Shen Qingli.

As time passed and he did not appear, fireworks lit up the night sky. Though separated, both Shen Qingli and Shui Wuxia gazed upon the same display. Shui Wuxia anxiously scanned the crowd, searching for any sign of him, but her efforts were in vain. Surrounded by couples, she felt a profound sense of loneliness and disappointment as she clutched the bracelets in her hand.
