Early in the morning, Jiang Tianling went to wake Zhe Zhi, who was still upset about the previous night's events. To cheer her up, Jiang Tianling presented her with a special gift. He led her, with her eyes closed, to a painting depicting the two of them. Zhe Zhi was delighted by the artwork, and they shared a close embrace. Just at that moment, Jiang Father unexpectedly opened the door, witnessing their intimate moment.
At the Jiang Mansion, Jiang Tianling knelt before his father. Qi Delong rushed in, clarifying that her relationship with Jiang Tianling had merely been an act to cancel an engagement, and returned the bracelet given to her by Jiang Father. Fang Yuncheng then knelt beside Qi Delong, confessing that he was the one who had impersonated Junior Young Master Jiang in front of Mr. Qi, leading to a series of misunderstandings.
Jiang Father then took Jiang Tianling aside for a private conversation. He acknowledged that the circumstances surrounding the broken engagement were understandable and not entirely Jiang Tianling's fault. However, he expressed confusion as to why Jiang Tianling would frequent a place like Lantern Boudoir, which he considered a "place of carnal pleasure." Jiang Father remained unconvinced, questioning why his son would be alone in a private room with a dancer, an act he associated more with Jiang Baiyu. He declared that he had committed to Zhe Zhi for this life. Furious, Jiang Father firmly stated that he would never allow Zhe Zhi to step foot into the Jiang Mansion. When Jiang Tianling vowed to marry no one but Zhe Zhi, his father, enraged, ordered him to be confined.
Jiang Baiyu and Shui Wuxia then spoke with Old Madam Jiang, explaining Jiang Tianling's situation. Old Madam Jiang wanted to confront Zhe Zhi, but Jiang Baiyu and Shui Wuxia persuaded her to approach the matter cautiously and plan for the long term. Jiang Baiyu later visited Zhe Zhi, who was practicing her dance, visibly upset. He acknowledged her distress and gently explained that Jiang Father's reaction was natural given Zhe Zhi was nine years older than Jiang Tianling.
Jiang Baiyu then playfully suggested Zhe Zhi break up with Jiang Tianling to avoid further conflict with his father. Zhe Zhi, however, asked if Jiang Tianling had been punished. Jiang Baiyu exaggeratedly confirmed he was confined and kneeling for self-reflection. Later, Jiang Baiyu, Fang Yuncheng, and Qi Delong went to visit Jiang Tianling, who was still confined. Jiang Baiyu suggested playing Mahjong to cheer him up.
Jiang Tianling initially refused, finding it inappropriate, but Jiang Baiyu, Fang Yuncheng, and Qi Delong started playing nearby. Jiang Tianling eventually joined them, saying they were one short and he would help out. Jiang Tianling consistently won, leading to Jiang Baiyu and the others getting ink marks painted on their faces. Meanwhile, Jiang Baiyu received a letter containing news about Ma Ru Long, indicating his location.
He and Shui Wuxia proceeded to the address mentioned in the letter, agreeing to split up and search. However, Jiang Baiyu soon worried about Shui Wuxia and turned back to check on her. Along the way, Shui Wuxia observed two children squabbling over a book. Recognizing the label on the book, she realized it was her brother's. This discovery led her to believe that her brother was still alive and was likely being held by Ma Ru Long.
