Le Bo, Lingxi's father, was determined to take her back to Peach Forest, fearing Fuyun Hall would fall from grace and she would be bullied. Lingxi, however, found his reasoning baseless and called him disloyal, insisting that Senior Deity Jiuchen considered her fated to meet him.
Le Bo scoffed at her words, arguing that if her claim held any truth, he was practically sworn brothers with God of Heavenly Thunder, and further suggested Lingxi was only fated to do household chores, not assist a deity. Despite his threats to bind her, Lingxi dragged her feet, reluctantly agreeing to get her belongings. Meanwhile, Shisan was tasked with disposing of the ashes from burnt war reports and worried about polluting Wanling Park's water beasts.
High Immortal Yuantong offered to help, claiming the ashes, composed of Endless Wood, would be useful for the cave of Lord of Heavenly Medicine, where a new immortal medicine was being refined for Jiuchen. Shisan, grateful, handed the fire basin over. Unbeknownst to them, Lingxi observed the exchange. Immortals around Fuyun Hall gossiped about Jiuchen's defiance in publicly burning War General Zhuxie's war report.
They acknowledged Jiuchen's unwavering character but worried about God of Heavenly Thunder's growing influence and his clear ambition for the God of War position, which Jiuchen's actions made harder to dispute. Later, High Immortal Yuantong, haunted by the sight of the deceased Lieyi Tribesmen, resolved to prevent her own Yuan Clan from suffering a similar fate. She encased the ashes in a wooden box and secreted it within the Yuan Clan ancestral temple.
Despite her actions, she felt a pang of guilt towards Jiuchen, though she quickly rationalized that as a top-level God of War and a disciple of Heavenly Supreme Lord, he could endure any challenge. The Heavenly Emperor, under immense pressure, issued a decree: God of War Jiuchen was temporarily relieved of his position and confined to Fuyun Hall to recuperate and reflect, having broken Heavenly rules by destroying the war report.
When Lord Baishanxian delivered the decree, he inquired if Jiuchen wished to argue his case, but Jiuchen simply declined. His junior brother, High God Yunfeng, later pressed him, questioning who Jiuchen was protecting and what truly transpired at Dark Capital Mountain, mentioning possibilities of war delays, collusion with the Demon Tribe, or involvement of Yuanzheng or Zhuxie.
Jiuchen calmly explained that his punishment was lenient only because it was he who bore the consequences; any other individual would have faced the extermination of their entire clan. Yunfeng, realizing the implication, deduced that someone had been demonized, and Jiuchen was covering for them. Jiuchen confirmed the matter was closed and urged no further discussion. He then entrusted Yunfeng with a mission to investigate Dark Capital Mountain, suspecting the Lieyi Tribesmen's actions were more complex than mere escape.
He also expressed concern about Le Bo forcibly taking Lingxi away, sensing fear in her father's actions. Following Jiuchen's confinement, many maids eagerly abandoned Fuyun Hall. Only Huayan and Shisan remained. Huayan lamented that even Lingxi had seemingly departed, but just then, a disheveled Lingxi appeared, asking if her father had left. She explained she had hidden in Wanling Park for two days to escape Le Bo's insistence on taking her back to Peach Forest.
Shisan, overjoyed by Lingxi's loyalty, embraced her tightly, nearly suffocating her. In their playful struggle, an Immortal Knot fell from Shisan's embrace. Lingxi picked it up, recognizing it as one Shisan had made, but Shisan, flustered, snatched it back, denying it was hers and diverting their attention to the messy courtyard, emphasizing the increased workload for the three remaining maids. Lingxi attempted to send her pet, Xiaobai, to comfort Jiuchen, but the creature stubbornly refused.
Just as she grew frustrated, Jiuchen appeared behind her. Lingxi, recalling her accidental destruction of his furniture, attempted to apologize, but Jiuchen wryly stated he hadn't yet decided not to pursue the matter, causing her to quickly retract her apology. She then babbled about hiding from her father and being accused of smelling, asking Jiuchen to judge. He then asked why she hadn't returned to Peach Forest with her father.
Lingxi firmly declared she couldn't abandon Fuyun Hall in its time of need, proclaiming her loyalty. When asked what she could contribute, she offered to clean, wipe floors, and provide companionship to alleviate his boredom. Jiuchen discreetly probed into her past, asking about Le Bo's strictness. Lingxi revealed that her father once held a position in the Heavenly Palace, with Lord of Heavenly Medicine as his assistant, but inexplicably resigned to live in Peach Forest, constantly watching over her.
She admitted to frequently running away, sometimes for a day or two, sometimes being caught before even leaving the gates. Despite her average magical abilities, she boasted expertise in poisons, illusions, and especially in dismantling various formations, barriers, and confusing obstacles. Jiuchen then inquired if she had ever visited Dark Capital Mountain. Lingxi denied it, recounting an attempt where her father intercepted her midway, furiously beating her and frightening her from ever trying again.
She noted that no one could enter the mountain due to its overwhelming demonic aura, but Jiuchen suggested she might be an exception. Lingxi, believing herself uniquely gifted, blamed her father for her slow cultivation progress, claiming she was still an earthly immortal after fifty thousand years. She asked Jiuchen when he achieved earthly immortal status. He simply stated he was born an earthly immortal and reached the rank of High God at twenty-two thousand years old.
Lingxi, mentally calculating the rapid progression through the immortal ranks, accused him of exaggeration, but Jiuchen offered no further response. For years, Star Lord Siming had been avoiding Shisan, causing her deep confusion. Cornered, Siming finally explained that fifty thousand years ago, Shisan was a male merman, known as Shishan, serving as a general under the Senior Deity.
They had forged a deep friendship, even becoming sworn brothers after traveling the Northern Seas and Shishan teaching him the Sea Control Technique. However, a few years later, Shishan transformed into a female merman and confessed her love, proposing marriage. Siming, overwhelmed, struggled to accept this. Shisan reminded him of their sworn brotherhood under the Northern Seas moon, a pact where they promised to be "bosom friends forever."
She claimed High God Yunfeng had told her "bosom friend" meant "lifetime partner," which was why she had transformed. Siming vehemently denied Yunfeng's reliability, but Shisan pressed on, arguing that merfolk are genderless in their youth and questioning why he looked down on her transformation when a mortal figure like Zhu Yingtai, who had adopted a male guise, was still beloved by Liang Shanbo. She insisted she was a "real woman."
After a heated exchange and Siming's failed attempt to escape her pursuing "Clanging Golden Gong," Shisan forced him to accept an Immortal Knot she had intricately woven, demanding he visit her at Fuyun Hall every seven days. Siming, seeing no escape from her persistence, reluctantly agreed, resigning himself to the inevitable. Below the Spirit-Binding Abyss, Jing Xiu was haunted by the encounter with Yuandu, whose voice still echoed in his mind. He dispatched Chibi to investigate.
Chibi returned with the grim confirmation: it was indeed Yuandu, who had not died as they believed, but had been suppressed by Ling Yue beneath the abyss. Jing Xiu was enraged, vowing to kill Yuandu once more. Chibi explained that the Spirit-Binding Abyss was a perilous boundary between the realms of gods and demons, sealed ten thousand years prior by Heavenly Supreme Lord himself after a demonic invasion.
Yuandu lay in the chaotic void between these realms, protected by a formation that Jing Xiu, with his current power, could not breach. However, Chibi reminded him that Zhonghao's father, Lieyi, was a formation genius who had assisted Heavenly Supreme Lord in sealing the abyss.
Jing Xiu, speculating that Zhonghao, as Lieyi's son, might possess the knowledge to break the formation, ordered Chibi to find his whereabouts, noting that their intelligence indicated Zhonghao had escaped to Dark Capital Mountain when his tribe sacrificed themselves to the Demon Lord. Back in the Heavenly Palace, the promised seven-day period for Siming's visit arrived. Shisan waited expectantly at the Fuyun Hall entrance and sent Lingxi to retrieve Jiuchen's medicine.
Lingxi arrived at the cave of Lord of Heavenly Medicine, observing him escorting Old Madam Yuan. After Old Madam Yuan departed, Lingxi approached, only for the immortal child guarding the entrance to refuse her, falsely claiming Lord of Heavenly Medicine was on a long journey. Fortunately, Qingyao, Lingxi's senior sister, arrived.
Lingxi sought her help, but Qingyao explained the grim reality: Lord of Heavenly Medicine was Old Madam Yuan's brother, and Jiuchen's public destruction of War General Zhuxie's war report was tantamount to declaring war on half the Heavenly Race, making any association with him politically dangerous. Despite Qingyao's concerns, Lingxi declared her unwavering belief in Jiuchen.
Moved by Lingxi's sincerity, Qingyao reluctantly gave her the last of her own limited supply of medicine, urging Lingxi to leave the "muddy lake" of Fuyun Hall and prioritize her own safety, just as Qingyao herself often defied the Heavenly Scroll to secretly heal mortals. Lingxi, though disappointed by the small amount of medicine, eloquently argued that her actions, like Qingyao's, were about standing up for her personal beliefs and justice.
Qingyao was deeply affected by Lingxi's words and later found an ancient text detailing a remedy for "cold disease" but noted one crucial ingredient was missing. Resolved to find the missing ingredient and a complete medical formula for Jiuchen's cold disease, Lingxi entrusted the meager supply of medicine to Huayan, instructing her to keep her departure a secret from both Jiuchen and Shisan.
Lingxi then quietly left the Heavenly Palace for Peach Forest, asking Huayan to tell Jiuchen she had merely snuck off to play. Huayan, however, informed her that Jiuchen had been in seclusion for days and wouldn't even notice her absence. Meanwhile, Shisan, having waited in vain for Siming at Fuyun Hall, proceeded to Siming Hall.
Finding him absent, she became captivated by the Paradise Mirror on the wall, which displayed scenes from the mortal world, perceiving it as merely a tool for peeping. Siming returned, quickly closing the mirror and attempting to dismiss her, citing official duties. Shisan, unfazed, insisted on frequent visits, threatening to visit Siming Hall if he continued to avoid Fuyun Hall, ultimately coercing him into agreeing to her terms.
Unbeknownst to them, Jiuchen, in his seclusion, extended a wisp of his divine sense to Dark Capital Mountain. He sensed a disturbing weakening in the Demon Lord's seal. He recalled how, fifty thousand years ago, after slaughtering all the demonized Heavenly Soldiers, he had barely managed to seal the Demon Lord using the power of the Ancestor's Sword. The Demon Lord, as he was sealed, had chillingly prophesied that Jiuchen, burdened by immense slaughter and tainted by demonic aura, would inevitably succumb to demonization himself.
