Late one night, Lingxi was drawn from her chambers by the sound of Jing Xiu playing the zither. She inquired about the melody, and Jing Xiu revealed it was "Thousand Character Classic," a song her father, Lin Shaohai, used to compose for her when she was little. Lingxi, surprised he had met her father, learned that Jing Xiu had visited the Lin family out of a desire to understand A'Mo's past.
Though touched by his sincerity, Lingxi firmly told Jing Xiu that A'Mo was a part of her past and she wished to be addressed as Lingxi. Jing Xiu lamented that it had only been a month, but Lingxi somberly replied that for her, those thirty days felt like a world apart. Despite the changes, she assured him that her respect for him remained, whether she was Lingxi or Lin Mo.
As Lingxi departed from Jing Xiu's residence, she heard the call of a Zhuri Bird and noticed Jiuchen's Immortal Knot tied to its claw. Later, Fairy Yuli examined Jiuchen, confirming that his Nuwa Stone Heart had not only recovered but was now more intimately connected with his vital channels, implying a significant increase in his power.
Yuli considered it a blessing in disguise and advised him to diligently take his medicine to permanently merge the Stone Heart with his flesh, which would greatly aid his future cultivation. Despite Yuli's concern, Jiuchen remained distant. Shisan, standing nearby, made her impatience clear with a pointed cough, prompting Yuli to leave. Siming, accompanying Yuli out, gently urged her to release her attachment to Jiuchen, suggesting that letting go would bring freedom.
However, Yuli defiantly stated that her affection was her own business, remarking that she had loved Jiuchen for fifty thousand years—long before Lingxi appeared—and saw no reason to abandon her feelings just because he had chosen someone else. Meanwhile, Hanzhang reported to Jiuchen that Yuan Yi, the current matriarch of the Yuan Clan and Yuanzheng's aunt, had arrived to plead on Yuan Tong's behalf.
Jiuchen, annoyed, declared that Yuan Tong had committed heinous crimes, killed comrades, and shown no remorse despite being repeatedly pardoned. He asserted that her banishment to the wilderness as a mortal, with her immortal bones removed, was already a benevolent act by the Heavenly Emperor. The Yuan Clan's attempt to leverage their ancestors' merits for her forgiveness was audacious, as individuals must bear the consequences of their own choices.
He instructed Hanzhang to refuse any further requests from the Yuan Clan. Afterward, Jiuchen informed Siming and his attendants that he would be entering seclusion at Polar Abyss, telling them they could find him there if anything urgent arose. Since Lingxi had exposed the witch doctor's misdeeds, Grandmother Shi had grown fond of her. One day, Lingxi overheard some young maids gossiping about her relationships with Jing Xiu and Jiuchen, with some even dismissing Jiuchen as "too old."
Lingxi, unbothered, simply warned them to mind their words. Unbeknownst to her, Jiuchen had stealthily entered the Shanling Tribe and overheard the conversation. When Wuwan spotted Jiuchen and alerted Lingxi, she playfully mocked him for eavesdropping. He then stated that he had come to inform her of his impending seclusion in Polar Abyss. Still resentful over him "killing" her twice, Lingxi accused him of abusing his power and trampling on her sincerity. As they argued, Lingxi's maid approached.
In a panic, Lingxi impulsively embraced Jiuchen and crouched down, releasing him only after the maid had passed. Jiuchen seized the opportunity, holding Lingxi tightly and refusing to let go. He leaned in and kissed her. He then pleaded with Lingxi not to push him away, confessing that despite living for tens of thousands of years in solitude, he had never felt lonely until he met her. Now, he found himself incapable of being alone.
Lingxi's eyes welled with tears as a smile blossomed on her face. She playfully warned him that a kiss wouldn't resolve her anger, to which he teasingly offered another. Lingxi then asked if he truly thought himself old, reassuring him that he looked young for his age. Later, Lingxi quietly spoke to her unconscious mother, revealing Jiuchen's unexpected confession and finding comfort in his words. Meanwhile, Yuan Tong, stripped of her immortal bones and banished, collapsed in a desolate wilderness.
In her unconscious state, she found herself in a phantom realm where she saw an apparition of her brother, Yuanzheng, before realizing it was an illusion. The entity then transformed into Wuzhiqi's likeness, explaining that while a Demon Lord can die, the essence of 'demon'—evil thoughts like greed, hatred, and malice—is eternal. It scoffed when Yuan Tong assumed it wanted her to become the new Demon Lord, deriding her for lacking immortal bones and the immense spiritual strength required.
When Yuan Tong asked why it had appeared to her, the demon offered her a "chance": help it find a suitable new Demon Lord, and in return, she could exact her revenge. Elsewhere, Qingyao arrived in the Shanling Territory with the antidote for Ling Yue. After administering it, Qingyao assured Lingxi that her mother would awaken in a few days. Overhearing this, Jing Xiu grew anxious.
Chibi and Heichi secretly pressed him to act swiftly before Ling Yue regained consciousness and exposed their past misdeeds. After much deliberation, Jing Xiu resolved to proceed with their sinister plan. Their conversation was overheard by Baoqing. She returned to her chambers, conflicted. When her maid suggested informing Grandmother Shi, Baoqing stopped her. She harbored both love and resentment for Ling Yue, fearing being cast aside upon her awakening but also cherishing her kindness.
Paralyzed by indecision over Jing Xiu's plot, Baoqing visited the still-unconscious Ling Yue. Grandmother Shi, sensing her distress, urged her to rest. Baoqing remained silent and left. Shortly after she departed, Ling Yue stirred and awakened. Overjoyed, Grandmother Shi immediately told her that her daughter, Lingxi, was alive and had returned. As Baoqing reached the entrance of Tianxi Palace, she encountered Jing Xiu and Chibi. Sensing his intentions, she froze, but Jing Xiu calmly advised her to return to her room and stay there, as a storm was coming.
