In the Spirit-Binding Abyss, Yuandu explained to his daughter, Ling Yue, that the place was a prison with a demonic aura so potent it would eventually drive anyone insane. He was relieved she had arrived before he completely lost his mind and no longer recognized her. Ling Yue revealed that Zhonghao had seized control of the Shanling Tribe and intended to use her blood to open the gates to the Demon Realm, which is why she jumped into the abyss.
Yuandu scolded her for her selflessness, but Ling Yue retorted that his own cruelty and selfishness made him no different from a demon, even when he was lucid. That night, a masked Huayan infiltrated the Yuan Clan's ancestral temple and stole the Heart-Assembling Nail from the altar. As she departed, Yuan Tong discovered the theft and gave chase.
After a guard at the South Gate of Heaven confirmed an immortal maid had just left, Yuan Tong led Heavenly Soldiers in pursuit, reporting the infiltration to the Heavenly Emperor. Meanwhile, Siming reminded Jiuchen that only one day remained until Lin Mo's nineteenth birthday, the day her mortal trial would conclude.
Although Siming had foreseen her death, Jiuchen sensed Ling Xi's primordial spirit was stable within the Farmer God's Cauldron, concluding Jing Xiu must have found a way to keep her alive. Jiuchen knew that if Lin Mo survived her birthday, the trial would fail, and Ling Xi could never return. If Lin Mo lived out her natural life, the demonic energy within her would eventually return to the Demon Lord, unleashing chaos upon the realms.
Siming warned that Jiuchen's own Fire Essence was fading and he would perish if he did not retrieve his Nuwa Stone Heart. Ignoring the warning, Jiuchen rushed to the mortal realm. On her birthday, Jing Xiu cooked a bowl of longevity noodles for Lin Mo. After a taste, she teased that they were too salty, and when he tried them, he agreed.
Lin Mo then revealed that she knew the truth: she was supposed to have died, but he had saved her by giving her his life bead. This bead transferred her injuries and pain to him, which was why he had lost his sense of taste. Jing Xiu reassured her that as a member of the Heavenly Race, he would find a solution.
He confessed that for most of his life, his only purpose was to avenge his family, who had been murdered by a cruel man. Meeting her had given him new hope, and he only wanted her to live happily. He warned her that to the God of War, she was merely a "nightmare" of temporarily losing Ling Xi, but to him, she was everything. He made her promise to never give up on herself.
Following Jing Xiu's plan, Huayan left the Heart-Assembling Nail in a hidden spot at an inn. Chibi retrieved it and delivered it to Heichi. With the nail secured, Jing Xiu cast a protective barrier over Lin Mo's room and departed for the Shanling Tribe to eliminate Yuandu.
He explained to Chibi that Zhonghao's lack of security was not bravery but indifference; Zhonghao believed that once the Demon Tribe's army invaded, no one could stop him, unaware that his trusted subordinate, Heichi, was secretly working for Jing Xiu. As the blood moon rose, Zhonghao used the Heart-Assembling Nail to open the seal on the Spirit-Binding Abyss. He found Ling Yue waiting for him inside.
Gloating, he attacked her, but her severe injuries left her no match for him, and she was quickly defeated. Just as Zhonghao prepared to fully open the demon gates, Yuandu appeared. The two fought to a standstill, both suffering heavy injuries. At that moment, Jing Xiu arrived. Enraged at the sight of Jing Xiu, Zhonghao charged, seeking vengeance for his fallen tribesmen.
However, weakened from his fight with Yuandu and caught off guard by Heichi's sudden betrayal from behind, Zhonghao was killed instantly. Jing Xiu then turned his attention to his true target: Yuandu. Ling Yue tried to intervene but was restrained by Chibi. Yuandu was now no match for Jing Xiu, who, fueled by decades of hatred, mercilessly cut him down. Witnessing her father's death, Ling Yue was overcome with grief and rage, and Chibi knocked her unconscious.
Heichi suggested killing her to prevent future retribution, but Jing Xiu couldn't bring himself to do it, declaring their debts settled. Sounds from above signaled Jiuchen's arrival. Jing Xiu and Heichi quickly departed, leaving Chibi to handle the situation. Chibi told Jiuchen that Zhonghao, who had kidnapped Ling Yue and attempted to unleash the Demon Tribe, had been executed by Jing Xiu to protect the Shanling Tribe.
Jiuchen sent a message back with Chibi for Jing Xiu: "Everyone has their own inner demon. Good and evil are often separated by a single thought. Do not walk the wrong path." Elsewhere, Xiao Bai tracked Lin Mo's scent to her room but was blocked by Jing Xiu's barrier. Lin Mo heard its cries and opened the door. Just then, Yuan Tong, who had followed the scent of a divine beast, arrived.
Consumed by jealousy, she tossed Xiao Bai aside and furiously demanded to know what spell Lin Mo had cast on Jiuchen to make him risk so much for her. Seeing its master threatened, Xiao Bai transformed into its true, massive form, knocking Yuan Tong away and escaping with Lin Mo on its back. Jiuchen brought the unconscious Ling Yue back to Tianxi Palace before setting out to find Lin Mo.
At the same time, the Heavenly Thunder God arrived with his troops, dispatching some to Tianxi Palace while leading the rest toward Youdu Mountain. As Xiao Bai flew over the mountain, Yuan Tong struck them from the sky. They crashed directly in front of the black lotus at the heart of the mountain. Yuan Tong caught up and viciously attacked Xiao Bai. Lin Mo knelt and tearfully begged her to stop.
As Yuan Tong prepared to kill Lin Mo, the Demon Lord intervened, blasting Yuan Tong aside just as the Heavenly Thunder God's forces arrived. Yuan Tong immediately lied, claiming Ling Xi (Lin Mo) was trying to free the Demon Lord and that she had been unable to harm her. She then struck the defenseless Lin Mo twice. The Demon Lord sensed the critical moment and urged Lin Mo to come to his side.
Realizing the Demon Lord was about to break free, the Heavenly Thunder God ordered his men to intervene. Jiuchen then arrived, striking Yuan Tong away as she moved to attack Lin Mo again. The Heavenly Thunder God confronted him, demanding to know why Ling Xi was still alive and accusing him of jeopardizing the realms for one person. Heartbroken, Lin Mo believed Jiuchen had also come to kill her so Ling Xi could return.
Suppressing his own pain, Jiuchen revealed the truth: "You are Lingxi." As the Demon Lord called out again, "They all want you dead! Come to me!" , Jiuchen urgently asked Lin Mo what Jing Xiu had given her to keep her alive, demanding she hand it over. The words crushed Lin Mo, confirming Jing Xiu's warning: to Jiuchen, she was just a nightmare, and he truly wanted her to die.
