After the battle with the Taowu beast, Yunfeng lay injured. Qingyao arrived to treat him, but Yunfeng dramatically claimed his qihai acupoint was destroyed and his immortal veins severed, insisting he was dying. He spoke of his gratitude for meeting her and, feigning his last breath, asked if she had ever liked him, even for a moment. Lord Baishanxian arrived, questioning how a mere Taowu beast could inflict such grave injuries and suggesting an old illness might have flared up.
Realizing Yunfeng’s deception, Qingyao angrily struck him. Yunfeng admitted her blow actually made him feel better, further revealing his pretense. As she left in frustration, he pursued her, leaving Lord Baishanxian amused by their antics. In the mortal world, Lin Mo continued to impress Doctor Sun with her growing medical skills, displaying a keen understanding of diagnostics and prescriptions. Doctor Sun praised her cautious approach, noting that human life is invaluable.
Aunt Guan teasingly questioned Lin Mo about some male fabric in her basket, to which Lin Mo responded shyly. Meanwhile, Jiuchen reflected on his weakened state. The recent battle with the Taowu beast had depleted his primordial energy, and having lost his Nuwa Stone Heart, he was now sustained only by the Fire Essence. He knew he had to be extremely careful and avoid using immortal magic until Lingxi successfully completed her mortal trials.
Later, Lin Mo returned home and began sewing in her room, blushing at the memory of measuring Jiuchen for clothes. Jiuchen noticed her sleeping late and inquired about her activities, but she gave a vague answer before rushing off to work. After she left, Jiuchen discovered the half-finished clothing and needlework in her room.
Realizing she was making him clothes filled him with quiet happiness, but his pleasant moment was interrupted when the Ghost Vine, left behind by Jing Xiu, abruptly extended its tendrils, prompting Jiuchen to quickly leave. Back in the Heavenly Palace, Lord Baishanxian exaggerated Yunfeng's heroism and Qingyao's involvement in defeating the Taowu beast to the Heavenly Emperor. The Heavenly Emperor mused that he might have wrongly paired two lovers and ordered Lord Baishanxian to summon Qingyao.
Yunfeng followed Qingyao to her alchemy room to apologize, but she unleashed a powerful roar, sending him flying. Kaiyang and Yuli witnessed his undignified flight and teased him mercilessly. When Lord Baishanxian arrived with the summons, Qingyao warned Yunfeng that if he were still there upon her return, she would break his legs. Qingyao presented herself before the Heavenly Emperor, who commended their efforts and offered a reward.
Qingyao humbly declined, so the Heavenly Emperor subtly shifted the conversation, asking for her opinion on the proposed marriage between Yunfeng and Yuli, citing her close friendships with both. Meanwhile, Princess Baoqing lay gravely injured, her life bead severely damaged. Jing Xiu used his own life bead to stabilize her, but knew this was only a temporary fix. To truly save her, he needed a spirit-replenishing pill from his chamber at Tianxi Palace.
Chibi suggested sending Heichi to retrieve it, but Jing Xiu dismissed the idea due to the numerous dangers within the palace, now occupied by Zhonghao. With Baoqing's time running out, Jing Xiu decided to go himself, despite Chibi's protests. He instructed Chibi to remain and guard the princess. In town, a local thug named Xu Hai, injured from a fight, visited Doctor Sun's pharmacy. He flirted with Lin Mo until Doctor Sun rebuked him. Later, Lin Mo bought a mooncake.
Bao Suozhu briefly saw her but lost sight of her in the crowd. Xu Hai's men, having learned Lin Mo was a lone foreigner, ambushed her in a secluded area, knocked her unconscious, and abducted her, intending to sell her in Nanyang City. Bao Suozhu returned to the Peach Forest with Lin Mo's dropped mooncake and medicine. He recounted seeing her to Zhu Zizai, who immediately suspected foul play and alerted Jiuchen. Overcome with worry, Jiuchen vanished instantly.
Xu Hai and his gang brought Lin Mo to the seaside to wait for a boat. When she awoke bound and terrified, Xu Hai mockingly told her she was going to a "better place." As she struggled, Jiuchen arrived and subdued Xu Hai. In the ensuing scuffle, a thug pushed Lin Mo, causing her head to strike a cart wheel. Enraged, Jiuchen used his immortal magic to freeze the thugs. Lin Mo witnessed this display of power before losing consciousness.
Jiuchen recalled the warnings against interfering in mortal affairs, but in that moment, he disregarded all consequences. Jiuchen carried Lin Mo back to the Peach Forest. When she awoke, she demanded to know who he truly was. Jiuchen didn't answer directly, asking only if he had ever harmed her. As she fell silent, he explained that they had known each other for a long time.
He told her it was the Mid-Autumn Festival and that in his hometown, men gave women gifts and blessings. Apologizing for having no gift, he wished her a life of peace and happiness before gently kissing her lips, leaving Lin Mo in shock. After Qingyao's audience, the Heavenly Emperor formally canceled Yunfeng and Yuli's engagement. Overjoyed, Yunfeng pursued Qingyao to the Peach Forest, relentlessly trying to woo her. Qingyao struck him, sending him sprawling just as Jiuchen arrived.
Jiuchen then sought Qingyao's medical expertise for his own injuries. She gave him a pill and sternly cautioned him against using his magic, especially on mortals, to avoid further backlash, reminding him that Lingxi would not be at ease if he were harmed again. Jiuchen took her advice seriously but uncharacteristically teased her about her increased power, noting that even a high god like Yunfeng could not defeat her. Qingyao then asked about Lingxi.
Jiuchen suggested she visit the mortal world, but Qingyao explained it would be too painful to watch Lingxi suffer without being able to intervene. Before leaving, Jiuchen asked Yunfeng if he had completed his assigned task. Yunfeng confirmed that Hanzhang had sent a group of minor immortals to infiltrate the Shanling Tribe, but noted it would take time for them to gather intelligence due to their low status.
