Yuli, deeply distressed, vehemently refused the marriage arranged for her with High God Yunfeng. When her father, the Lord of Heavenly Medicine, arrived, he questioned why she was throwing a fit about a marriage she seemingly desired. Yuli clarified that she had no interest in the womanizer Yunfeng; the person she truly wished to marry was the God of War, Jiuchen.

Her father, astonished by her ambition, sternly reminded her that no one in the Nine Heavens could be considered worthy of the God of War, and moreover, the Heavenly Emperor had already decreed the marriage, making it unchangeable. Despite this, Yuli defiantly declared that she would rather remain unmarried forever or even be Jiuchen's widow than marry Yunfeng. News of the impending marriage quickly spread throughout the Heavenly Palace.

Doctor Qingyao, who was treating Hanzhang, was so stunned that her hand slipped, causing Hanzhang's entire arm to become immobile. Startled by his cry of pain, Qingyao profusely apologized and, visibly flustered, gave him a large assortment of spiritual medicines. Elsewhere, High God Yunfeng attempted to gain an audience with the Heavenly Emperor to revoke the decree but was repeatedly turned away by the guards.

The Heavenly Emperor, discussing the matter with an attendant, acknowledged Yunfeng's distress but explained that he had bestowed a marriage, not a punishment, noting that with Yunfeng's parents gone and his teacher in seclusion, it was time for him to settle down. Meanwhile, Jiuchen, residing in the mortal world, sensed Yunfeng's approach.

Jing Xiu seized the opportunity to confront him, pointing out that Lin Mo still harbored a demonic aura, making her a target for both the Heavenly and Demon Tribes. He questioned why Jiuchen, the God of War, was neglecting his duties, warning of severe consequences if his presence were discovered. Jiuchen countered that Jing Xiu, a State Preceptor in hiding, was also a source of trouble.

He advised Jing Xiu to leave if he truly cared for Lin Mo's safety, vowing to show no mercy if anyone discovered their location because of him. When Yunfeng arrived, he immediately knelt and pleaded for help, complaining bitterly about the arranged marriage to Yuli. He claimed that Yuli had used Jiuchen as an excuse to get close to him, insisting his heart belonged solely to Qingyao.

Jiuchen, exasperated, told him to either argue with the Heavenly Emperor or seek their Teacher's intervention. At that moment, Yunfeng spotted Jing Xiu and Lin Mo descending the stairs together, appearing close. He instinctively asked if Ling Xi had married in the mortal world. Jiuchen's vehement denial made Yunfeng realize why he refused to leave. Seeing Jiuchen's furious expression, Yunfeng quickly fled. Preoccupied, Lin Mo requested a month's salary advance from Doctor Sun.

With the money, she purchased meat and wine and prepared a farewell meal for Jiuchen and Jing Xiu, stunning them both. Addressing them by their mortal identities, she told "Lord Song" (Jiuchen) that as a scholar with family expectations, he should not be lingering. To "Brother Xiu" (Jing Xiu), she pointed out that his injuries were healed and he should return to his duties as an official.

Humbly stating she was an ordinary person unworthy of their attention, she thanked them for their care and, raising a cup of tea, wished them a safe journey before leaving. Back in the Heavenly Palace, Yunfeng gloated that Jiuchen had been kicked out by Lin Mo. Siming, however, defended her, confident in her devotion to Jiuchen. Yunfeng then unflatteringly described Jing Xiu as "short and robust, with the head of a buck deer and the eyes of a rat."

Annoyed, Jiuchen reprimanded them for their lack of progress in cultivation. Yunfeng admitted he couldn't focus because Qingyao was ignoring him over the marriage decree. Siming offered love advice, suggesting that Lin Mo, timid due to her past hardships, is kind to those weaker than herself. He advised Yunfeng that winning a woman's heart requires being "bold, attentive, and sweet-tongued." In the demon realm, Zhonghao, frustrated with Princess Baoqing's failure to persuade the beast tribes, ordered Heichi to execute her.

Qin Yuan's offer to do it himself was rejected. Heichi later told Qin Yuan the execution was set for that night, hinting that Zhonghao knew of his daily visits to her cell. Unable to defy his adoptive father but unwilling to let her die, Qin Yuan brought Baoqing a final meal. Panicked, she pleaded for her life, reminding him he was a disciple of the Old Man from the South Pole and a good person.

As he left, Qin Yuan deliberately dropped his key. Baoqing seized it and escaped. Heichi, seeing this, ordered his soldiers to capture her alive, calling her Zhonghao's most important pawn. Baoqing was soon overtaken and severely wounded, but Chibi arrived just in time to rescue her. Driven from the residence, Jing Xiu set up a letter-writing stall across from the pharmacy.

Lin Mo saw this and mused that the more decent "Lord Song" would not be so shameless, only to find Jiuchen waiting at her door. She firmly stated she would not return with him and shut the door. Jiuchen remained outside. As night fell, he conjured a downpour and stood in it without an umbrella. Unable to bear the sight, Lin Mo finally went out and pulled him inside. After he changed, Lin Mo gave him ginger soup.

Noticing his wet hair, she hesitantly agreed to dry it for him at his request. Cherishing the moment, Jiuchen took her hand and told her not to drive him away again. Flustered, Lin Mo fled to her room. The next morning, when she suggested he leave, Jiuchen feigned a cough. Seeing through his act, Lin Mo reiterated that she would not go back with him, regardless of whether he pitied her or was acting out of rivalry with Jing Xiu.

On her way to work, Lin Mo saw mooncakes for sale, a reminder of the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival that made her feel homesick. Jing Xiu bought a pack for her, but she refused. He then revealed he had no family to reunite with. Just then, a cultivator named Zhu Zizai spotted Jing Xiu and knelt, begging the "Immortal Master" to take him as a disciple. Jing Xiu denied knowing him and quietly used magic to freeze him in place.

As they reached the pharmacy, a massive beast burst from the river, wreaking havoc. Jing Xiu pushed Lin Mo inside for safety, while outside, the frozen Zhu Zizai and his teacher believed the monster's rampage was a trial sent by the "Immortal Master."
