Jing Xiu had been anxiously waiting for Lin Mo's return, worried and on the verge of going to search for her. When Lin Mo arrived, she explained that Aunt Guan had tricked her into a matchmaking meeting with Teacher Shen. Noticing the scent of herbs on Lin Mo, Jing Xiu learned that Teacher Shen had given them to her.
Lin Mo explained that Teacher Shen had offered the herbs to ward off insects and suggested she sew them into a sachet for him, but she admitted her poor needlework skills and dislike for sewing. Jing Xiu then inquired about Teacher Shen's background, but Lin Mo knew little about him besides that he was a teacher. Jing Xiu cautioned her to carefully consider the matter, as it concerned her lifelong happiness, before Lin Mo went to prepare their meal.
The next morning, Aunt Guan pressed Lin Mo for her opinion of Teacher Shen, urging her to decide quickly since they both lacked parents to make the decision for them. Just then, Jing Xiu arrived, using his cane and claiming he was there to pick Lin Mo up due to the rain, assuring her that he was fine despite his blindness. Before leaving, Jing Xiu sincerely thanked Aunt Guan for taking care of Lin Mo at the shop.
Aunt Guan was left with a very favorable impression of Jing Xiu, noting his good looks despite his eye condition and his gentle and considerate nature. Back at their residence, Lin Mo found a beautifully decorated box containing a poetry collection titled "Questions about the Flower World Answered," signed by Shen Peishu, which she knew was from Teacher Shen. That evening, as Lin Mo read the book by candlelight, her candle suddenly went out.
She went to the kitchen to find flint to relight it, and Jing Xiu followed, advising her not to read so late as it was bad for her eyes and suggesting she read tomorrow instead. Meanwhile, Yuan Tong, feeling bitter after Jiuchen's rejection, went to the Temple of Heavenly Thunder and informed the God of Heavenly Thunder that Jiuchen had returned to Polar Abyss and used the Nuwa Stone Heart to exchange the Farmer God's Cauldron.
God of Heavenly Thunder, already at odds with Jiuchen, saw this as an opportunity to punish him. Despite a subordinate's reminder that the Demon Tower was sealed, preventing them from verifying the authenticity of the Farmer God's Cauldron, God of Heavenly Thunder decided to personally investigate at Polar Abyss. Unwilling to wait passively, Jing Xiu sought out Teacher Shen Peishu at his private academy.
Introducing himself as Lin Mo's older brother, Jing Xiu questioned Shen Peishu's decision to teach instead of pursuing a career, implying he lacked ambition. Shen Peishu, already aware from Aunt Guan that Jing Xiu was not Lin Mo's real brother, understood Jing Xiu's true intentions. He commented on Jing Xiu's unusual manner of speech and directly asked him why he wouldn't personally confess his feelings to Lin Mo if he liked her.
Caught off guard, Jing Xiu left without a clear answer. Returning home, he found Lin Mo and Xiaobai waiting for him to eat, which warmed his heart. The next day, when the peach wine was ready, Lin Mo poured a bowl for Jing Xiu, explaining that she couldn't drink herself, getting drunk with just a single drop. Feeling good, Jing Xiu decided to share his story with Lin Mo.
He revealed that he was from the Shanling Tribe, a distant land where flowers bloomed year-round, lakes were crystal clear, and ancient trees reached the clouds, creating a comfortable and peaceful life. When Lin Mo inquired about his occupation in his hometown, he vaguely replied that he was an official. Lin Mo then asked about the customs of the Shanling Tribe.
Jing Xiu described their unique courtship traditions: on the seventh day of the second month, men would confess their love and propose marriage to women by gifting a bamboo leaf; conversely, on the second day of the seventh month, women would propose to men by offering a mulberry leaf, symbolizing their trust and love. Both men and women, he explained, had the right to pursue their affection.
Lin Mo listened with longing, and Jing Xiu subtly suggested that he lived near a bamboo forest and asked if she would be willing to go there with him in the second month of the coming year. Recognizing this as a veiled confession, Lin Mo remained silent, unsure how to respond. Jing Xiu, seeing her hesitation, nervously drank his wine and suddenly experienced intense eye pain. Moments later, he discovered his vision had miraculously returned.
The instant Jing Xiu saw Lin Mo, he was shocked, recognizing her as Lingxi. He recalled that Lingxi had been personally killed by the God of War on the Purple Cloud Platform, yet here she was, a mortal without any magic. He remembered she had been able to pull out the White Bone Nails from his body, confirming her Phoenix Tribe lineage. She was Lingxi, without a doubt.
He wondered how she had appeared there and why she had no memory of her past. At Polar Abyss, God of Heavenly Thunder arrived, demanding to see the God of War. The guard informed him that his Senior Deity was not there and could not be disturbed, but God of Heavenly Thunder insisted he had received news of the God of War's return.
Dismissing the guard, God of Heavenly Thunder accused Jiuchen of privately hiding the Farmer God's Cauldron, a sacred item that suppressed the Demon Tower, and questioned if Jiuchen still respected the Heavenly Race laws or considered himself the God of War. Jiuchen explained he had a reason for taking the Farmer God's Cauldron and would accept his punishment in the Heavenly Palace after the current matter was resolved.
God of Heavenly Thunder refused to wait and demanded Jiuchen return with him immediately. As they fought, a surge of energy caused Lin Mo, who was sleeping, to writhe in pain in her dream, and her demonic imprint reappeared on her ear. Hearing her distress, Jing Xiu rushed to her side and, upon seeing the mark, confirmed that she was indeed Lingxi.
Jiuchen insisted that he had already informed the Heavenly Emperor about borrowing the Farmer God's Cauldron and would return it immediately once the current matter was concluded. God of Heavenly Thunder remained unconvinced, attempting to seize the cauldron. Jiuchen shielded it, forcing God of Heavenly Thunder out of the inner chamber. Jiuchen then knelt, pleading with God of Heavenly Thunder to be magnanimous and tolerate him this once, promising to repay this great debt of gratitude in the future.
God of Heavenly Thunder was astonished by Jiuchen's unprecedented act of kneeling. He acknowledged Jiuchen's remarkable intelligence and fighting prowess, yet expressed his disdain for Jiuchen's irresoluteness, citing how it led to Yuanzheng's massacre of a hundred thousand Heavenly Soldiers and how Jiuchen had even sheltered Yuanzheng upon returning from the Immortal Sea. He reminded Jiuchen that the Heavenly Race governed the Six Realms through strict laws, even if sometimes unreasonable, and that all deities should uphold them.
He then advised Jiuchen to forever remember the words, "Do not do things excessively" and "one who has great love usually does not act as being one," before leaving. Jing Xiu pondered how Lingxi had escaped her fate on the Purple Cloud Platform and appeared as a mortal.
He used his power to find the Lin family and observed Lin Shaohai, Lin Mo's father, singing the "Thousand Character Classic," recalling how Lin Mo had always loved her father's songs, even though she couldn't hear them. Jing Xiu then saw glimpses of Lin Mo's childhood: being isolated and finding solace only with her father.
He still couldn't comprehend how she had escaped the God of War's fatal blow, why she was in the mortal world, or if the Heavenly Palace and Demon Lord were aware of her continued existence and the lingering demonic imprint, fearing the disaster that would ensue if her presence was discovered. The following morning, Lin Mo awoke to find Jing Xiu seated by her bed. He explained she had been having a nightmare, which had worried him.
Lin Mo, feeling aches all over, then noticed that Jing Xiu could see her. Joyfully, she tested his recovered sight by asking him to identify objects like a tree, a table, and the ocean, and then exclaimed that Doctor Sun's medicine must have cured him, suggesting they thank both the gods and the doctor. Jing Xiu, however, questioned why Doctor Sun's medicines took so long to work, jokingly suggesting it might have been the seafood dishes Lin Mo cooked.
Lin Mo, nonetheless, insisted on expressing their gratitude to everyone. Jing Xiu offered to take her to work. Later, when Jing Xiu went to pick Lin Mo up at Doctor Sun's pharmacy, Doctor Sun, upon learning of Jing Xiu's recovered sight, was immensely proud of his "outstanding" medical skills, checking Jing Xiu's pulse and advising him not to overuse his newly recovered eyes.
Jing Xiu thanked him, then subtly advised him to rely less on talk of gods and more on a doctor's skill. Before Lin Mo finished work, Jing Xiu presented Aunt Guan with a valuable gift, thanking her for taking care of Lin Mo and requesting that Aunt Guan stop arranging matchmaking meetings for Lin Mo in the future. Aunt Guan, understanding his implied meaning, became somewhat embarrassed.
As they walked away, Jing Xiu told Lin Mo he had asked Aunt Guan to stop her matchmaking efforts because the matter concerned him and that Lin Mo would need someone to take care of her in the future.
